The honour underscores the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, through the Omani National Committee for the IHP, in promoting international cooperation and fostering strategic partnerships in the field of water resource management. Oman's proactive engagement with global water initiatives reflects its broader vision for the sustainable and integrated development of natural resources, especially water. The recognition serves as a testament to the country's leadership and commitment to environmental stewardship on both regional and international platforms. Receiving the commemorative shield on behalf of the sultanate was Sulaiman Khalfan al Mabsali, Deputy Permanent Representative of Oman to Unesco.
