SKMC earns international accreditation for excellence in paediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery
15 Aug 2025 14:20 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), part of SEHA healthcare, a PureHealth subsidiary, has been awarded the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation by Joint Commission International (JCI). The recognition underscores SKMC's continued commitment to safe, high-quality, and patient-centred latest accreditation specifically highlights the excellence of SKMC's Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Programme, certified under JCI's Clinical Care Certification Programme (CCPC).The Gold Seal of Approval is a globally recognised symbol of quality in healthcare and reflects an institution's adherence to rigorous international standards in clinical practice and patient underwent a comprehensive on-site assessment from 10-11 February 2025, conducted by a JCI surveyor, who evaluated compliance with key healthcare standards. These included the International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, surgical and anaesthesia services, medication management, infection prevention and control, staff qualifications and training, governance, and quality improvement initiatives. Andrew Rosen, Vice President of Joint Commission International, said: 'Joint Commission International accreditation equips hospitals with the tools and frameworks to continuously enhance patient outcomes, clinical education, and care delivery. We congratulate Sheikh Khalifa Medical City on this significant achievement and commend its leadership in quality improvement and dedication to excellence in patient safety.' The View Hospital today announced that it has earned Joint Commission International's Gold Seal of Approval - 8th Edition for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its internationally recognized standards. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. With this achievement, The View Hospital becomes the first private hospital in Qatar to meet the latest JCI standards – 8th Edition, a testament to its unwavering focus on clinical excellence, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to a variety of areas, including the International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, anesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management.
