Inverness flight forced to turn back amid Storm Floris
An Inverness-bound flight was forced to turn around on Monday morning due to strong winds. EasyJet flight EZY621 from London Luton took off at 9.55am and was due to arrive at around 11.25am on Wednesday morning. However easyJet confirmed the flight could not land at Inverness Airport due to weather conditions, with the aircraft forced to turn back. It comes amid an amber alert during Storm Floris that has been issued for much of the country, lasting from 10am until 11pm. A second yellow alert, covering the whole of Scotland, will be in place until midnight, while a third yellow weather warning will come into force at midnight, covering Orkney and Shetland until 8am on Tuesday. An easyJet spokesperson said: 'Due to strong winds at Inverness today, EZY621 from London Luton to Inverness this morning was unable to operate. 'We are doing all we can to minimise the impact of the weather for our customers, providing options to rebooking or a refund, as well as hotel accommodation and meals for those who require them. 'The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority and while this was outside of our control, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the weather.'
