Johnstown to host free ‘Children's Book Festival'
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Learning Lamp and First Summit Bank announced they will be hosting a free 'Children's Book Festival' in Johnstown.
The festival is scheduled to run on both Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Avenue. The weekend hopes to provide children in grades PreK through sixth and their families with a free, interactive and engaging literary experience. Every child who comes to the festival will leave with a free book.
Artists who can be expected to make an appearance include New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Jarret Krosckza, who worked on several volumes of Star Wars Jedi Academy series, Karma Wilson, the New York Times bestselling children's author who wrote A Dog Named Doug, John Patrick Green, author of InvestiGATORS as well as Pat Lewis, a Pittsburgh-based cartoonist and illustrator.
The festival will also feature 16 regional authors and a scavenger hunt with clues to those authors' books, crafts, free furry book buddies and hands-on workshops for the next generation of aspiring authors. There will also be a chance to enter a regionwide bookmark design contest for the chance to win baskets of books and four day-passes to DelGrosso's Park and Laguna Splash.
