Nathan Fillion Reveals Biggest Challenge of Starring as Green Lantern in ‘Superman' Involved the Bathroom (Exclusive)

Nathan Fillion Reveals Biggest Challenge of Starring as Green Lantern in 'Superman' Involved the Bathroom (Exclusive) originally appeared on Parade. Nathan Fillion is a veteran actor who's played many roles over the years. Although Fillion, 54, loved playing Green Lantern in the latest installment of Superman, there were some not-so-comfortable wardrobe challenges he faced for the first time in his career. 'For me, it was the wig,' Fillion shared with Parade from the film's Hollywood premiere. 'Certainly, you'll have a costume piece or something that'll put you in a certain mindset for the character. For me, it was the wig.' 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 'When you see a guy walking down the street with a bowl cut, he clearly doesn't care what you think about him. Because you're also wearing that motorcycle suit top to bottom. It was heavy and stiff. It was not easy to run around in and you certainly can't pee in it. [You] can't pee in it.' Once Fillion got dressed in his suit, he knew he had to be prepared for when nature called throughout filming. 'Hold it,' Fillion laughed as he explained how he'd deal with needing to use the restroom. For Fillion, starring in the James Gunn directed live action thriller, this was a nostalgic dream come true. 'I collected comic books,' Fillion said of his childhood passion. 'I remember a particular comic book I was reading where a fellow had a heart problem and he connected it to a machine where every time he had a heart problem it would cause earthquakes in metropolis and Superman stopped the earthquakes and said, 'I'm going to fix your heart with super surgery.' I realized Superman has so many super powers. All he does is put super in front of the word and that's his new super power.' Superman releases in theaters on July 11.
