Wizz Air flight attendant Ioana Iachim (@ioanaiachim) has taken to TikTok to explain the real reason why your reply to their greeting matters a lot more than you might think. In her video caption, Ioana reveals that flight attendants aren't just greeting passengers out of 'politeness'. She says the real reason flight attendants often say hello to passengers is to 'check whether or not you are too drunk or sick to fly'. A drunk or unwell passenger might not be able to respond appropriately to the cabin crew's friendly greeting. The flight attendants are then able to keep an eye on the passenger or even stop them from boarding the plane. Many travellers were shocked by Ioana's revelation with one person saying they thought the crew greeted them because they 'fancied me'. Another person wrote: 'I never greet them back because I am an introvert'. Meanwhile another passenger said: 'They always ask me if I want to sit in the exit row so I must get an A+ during this test.' Travellers sitting in the exit row must be prepared to open the door in the event of an emergency. And one traveller said they tend to ask for help from the flight attendants when they board the plane. They wrote: 'I take that quick time to mention my severe flight anxiety, I've been flying Wizz Air as of lately and people are so lovely about it.'
