Iowa wrestling reportedly welcoming back previously dismissed grappler
In late June, reports surfaced that Iowa had dismissed talented NCAA qualifier Gabe Arnold. The two-time national prep champion and Iowa 3A state champion at 182 pounds was a big loss for the program.
Now, Arnold has reportedly been welcomed back to the program. According to Pat Mineo of The Wrestling Room, Arnold is back at Iowa and rejoining the lineup.
Arnold competed at 184 pounds last season for the Hawkeyes. The 5-foot-7 grappler compiled a 10-2 dual record and a 5-2 Big Ten duals mark. Overall, Arnold tallied a 19-7 record in 2024-25.
Arnold notched 38 dual points, boasted an 8-6 mark against ranked opponents, collected five major decisions and three tech falls. Four of Arnold's losses came in overtime.
In his Hawkeye career, Arnold owns a 27-8 record.
