'Attempt to damage ties': Iran denounces social media post on Kashmir

The clarification came in response to an account on X ('Daily Iran News') -- with 400,000 followers and falsely linked to Iran -- claiming Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and Taiwan to China New Delhi A post on X (formerly Twitter) by an account claiming to represent Iran has sparked controversy after it stated that Kashmir is part of Pakistan and Taiwan is part of China. The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi, on Saturday, firmly dismissed the post, calling the account 'fake' and aimed at harming relations between Iran and India. In an official statement, the embassy said, 'Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations. This account does not belong to Iran.' The statement was accompanied by maps of both India and China. Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations. On Friday, it shared a post that read: 'Taiwan is part of #China & Kashmir is part of #Pakistan. Do you agree?' According to media reports, multiple fake accounts operating in the name of Iran on social media are being run from Pakistan. India-Iran ties remain strong India and Iran have historically maintained strong ties, despite occasional remarks by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Kashmir, an issue India views as a domestic matter. In June, Iran opened its airspace to facilitate India's evacuation efforts during the Iran-Israel conflict. Shortly after, during US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, Tehran reached out to India, which was among the first nations it contacted. India, in turn, continues to invest in key infrastructure like the Chabahar Port and values Iran's strategic location near Afghanistan and Pakistan. Despite India strengthening its defence and technology ties with Israel under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has kept steady diplomatic engagement with Iran, even under US sanctions. After Khamenei's comments last year, India expressed its displeasure and has since continued efforts for direct communication with Iranian leadership. Iran's consistent support for China on Taiwan On Taiwan, Iran has consistently supported China's position. Tehran regularly criticises US actions that promote Taiwan's international presence, considering them threats to China's territorial claims. Iran's relationship with China is shaped by economic necessity. Isolated from Western markets due to sanctions, Iran has pursued a 'Look East' policy, making China its main trading partner, oil importer, and investor. China, in turn, views Iran as a key supplier of energy and an essential route in its 'New Silk Road' initiative that links Asia with Europe via the Middle East.

Iranian Embassy Flags Fake Social Media Accounts Undermining India-Iran Relations

The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi has issued a stern warning about a series of fake social media accounts impersonating official Iranian entities, allegedly aiming to disrupt the diplomatic relationship between Iran and India. In a post on X, the embassy highlighted that these fraudulent accounts are disseminating misinformation, including false claims about Iran reconsidering the Chabahar port agreement with India due to alleged US military activities. Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations. These accounts do not belong to Iran. 🇮🇷 🇮🇳 — Iran in India (@Iran_in_India) July 12, 2025 The embassy shared screenshots of several such deceptive profiles, some bearing blue verification ticks, which could mislead users into believing their authenticity. Among the false narratives propagated is the assertion that Iran is reevaluating its strategic partnership with India, particularly concerning the Chabahar port project. These claims have been identified as baseless and are seen as attempts to sow discord between the two nations. Investigations suggest that many of these fake accounts originate from Pakistan, indicating a coordinated effort to manipulate public perception and strain India-Iran relations. This development is particularly concerning given India's unique diplomatic stance during recent regional tensions, where it maintained open channels with both Israel and Iran. Notably, during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, India's balanced approach was evident. Further emphasising the strength of India-Iran ties, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was present in New Delhi during India's Operation Sindoor, an evacuation mission amid the Israel-Iran conflict. During his visit, he expressed Iran's willingness to mediate between India and Pakistan, showcasing Tehran's commitment to regional stability.

These accounts do not belong to Iran," the embassy wrote on X, while sharing screenshots of the names of these 'fake channels". The embassy shared images online exposing fake accounts and their false claims, including a post from a fake Ministry of Defence account claiming Iran was 'reconsidering" the Chabahar Port agreement with India. Iran embassy in India dismisses fake X handle's claim Kashmir is in Pakistan, ‘attempt' to damage ties

The account 'Daily Iran News' has around 4,00,000 followers and posts inflammatory content on X around geopolitical developments. In its post Friday it wrote, 'Taiwan is part of #China & Kashmir is part of #Pakistan. Do you agree?' In a formal response, the Iranian embassy in India stated, 'Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations. This account does not belong to Iran.' Accompanying the statement were maps of India and China. New Delhi: After a tweet from an account purporting to represent Iran said that Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and Taiwan to China, the Iranian embassy in New Delhi Saturday, swiftly rejected the claims, calling the account 'fake' and an attempt to damage India-Iran relations. Some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations. This account does not belong to Iran. 🇮🇷 🇮🇳 — Iran in India (@Iran_in_India) July 12, 2025 India has always shared cordial relations with Iran, despite the Supreme Leader Khamenei's occasional comments on Kashmir, which India considers an internal matter. In June, Iran even made a special gesture by opening its airspace to help India evacuate its nationals during the Iran-Israel conflict. Days later, following US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, India was among the first nations Tehran reached out to. Despite occasional criticism from Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei over Kashmir and the treatment of Muslims, Tehran has never acted against Indian interests, while India continues to invest in key projects like the Chabahar Port and views Iran as strategically vital, given its location near Afghanistan and Pakistan. Even as India's defence and tech ties with Israel have grown stronger under Prime Minister Modi, New Delhi has maintained steady relations with Tehran, despite U.S. sanctions. After Khamenei's remarks last year, India expressed strong displeasure and has since sought direct engagement with the Iranian leadership to manage differences. On China, Iran's broader foreign policy remains aligned on major geopolitical issues, including its support for Beijing's sovereignty claims over Taiwan. Tehran has consistently criticised US moves that bolster Taiwan's international status, viewing them as provocations undermining Chinese territorial integrity. The relationship between Iran and China, though often described as strategic, is deeply shaped by economic necessity. Facing long-standing sanctions and isolation from Western markets, Iran has turned increasingly toward China, adopting a 'Look East' economic strategy. China has emerged as Iran's top trading partner, oil buyer, and investor. Beijing sees Tehran not only as a major energy supplier but also as a crucial transit corridor in its evolving 'New Silk Road' strategy linking Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Pakistan's devious plan to pit India against Iran EXPOSED! Tehran foils Islamabad's conspiracy on social media, says...

(File) India-Iran relations: Barring Turkey and Azerbaijan, a majority of Muslim countries, including Iran, did not support Pakistan during the recent India-Pakistan conflict. This apparently irked Islamabad, and its now spreading fake propaganda on social media platforms in an effort to spoil India-Iran relations and pit the two friendly countries against each other. Why Pakistan is trying to spoil India-Iran relations? A distorted map of Kashmir and Taiwan was shared on X (former Twitter) by an account called Daily Iran News, which shows the two regions as part of Pakistan and China, respectively. 'Taiwan is part of #China & Kashmir is part of #Pakistan. Do you agree?,' reads the caption on the X post. Notably, the account carries an image of the Iranian national flag as its profile picture, and also has a blue checkmark, which means its a verified account. Additionally, there are scores of other accounts carrying pictures of the Iranian flag, its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, or other Iranian leaders and military officers as their profile pictures– that spread anti-India propaganda and spew venom against the country. All these are believed to be fake accounts being operated by Pakistan with an aim to drive a wedge between India and Iran. How Tehran exposed Pakistani conspiracy? Sharing the controversial post on its official X handle, the Iranian embassy in India stated that the account calling itself 'Daily Iran News', does not belong to Iran, noting that 'some fake channels, under the name of Iran, are attempting to damage Iran-India relations.' The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi also shared screenshots of similar fake accounts which often criticize the Indian government and make derogatory comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Hindu community, and show Kashmir as part of Pakistan. The embassy strongly stressed that these handles are not Iranian, and their sole aim to damage India-Iran relations. 'We want to make it clear that these accounts do not belong to Iran,' it said. What is Pakistan's agenda? Post Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has accelerated its smear campaign against India on social media in an effort to spoil New Delhi's ties with other nations. During the recent Israel-Iran war, Pakistan-based social media handles spread the propaganda that India had betrayed Tehran, and was supporting Israel. However, in a proverbial egg on the face moment, Tehran has debunked and exposed all these conspiracies, calling them fake and malicious.
