Watch: Iran launches fresh missile barrage towards Jerusalem after vowing ‘destructive' attacks

This is the moment projectiles from an Iranian missile attack flash in the night sky over Israel 's capital Jerusalem on Saturday (14 June). Iran launched a fresh missile barrage towards Jerusalem after it vowed "heavy and destructive" attacks, as the Israeli military continues to strike several targets across Iran. Iranian state TV said more than 100 missiles were launched in the second wave of their operation "True Promise 3". Israeli Police said it received reports of a fallen explosive device in a community in the Northern District. Initial reports indicated that there were several casualties and damage at the scene.

Anger and worry mix in Iran's capital after retaliatory strikes against Israel

TEHRAN, Iran — Anger mixed with worry as Iranians in the capital of Tehran woke up Saturday to images of their country's retaliatory attacks on Israel. Iranian state television, long controlled by hard-line supporters of the country's theocracy, repeatedly aired footage of missile strikes on Tel Aviv throughout the morning. The broadcaster also showed people cheering in front of a large screen set up in Tehran to follow the strikes as if they were watching a soccer match.

Pizza delivery monitor alerts to secret Israel attack

The timing of Israel's plan to attack Iran was top secret. But Washington pizza delivery trackers guessed something was up before the first bombs fell. About an hour before Iranian state TV first reported loud explosions in Tehran, pizza orders around the Pentagon went through the roof, according to a viral X account claiming to offer "hot intel" on "late-night activity spikes" at the U.S. military headquarters. "As of 6:59 pm ET nearly all pizza establishments nearby the Pentagon have experienced a HUGE surge in activity," the account, Pentagon Pizza Report, posted Thursday. Not confining its analysis to pizza, the account noted three hours later that a gay bar near the Pentagon had "abnormally low traffic for a Thursday night," and said this probably pointed to "a busy night at the Pentagon." While far from scientific, the Pentagon pizza theory "is not something the internet just made up," The Takeout, an online site covering restaurants and food trends, noted earlier this year. Pentagon-adjacent pizza joints also got much busier than usual during Israel's 2024 missile strike on Iran, it said, as there are "a multitude of fast food restaurants in the Pentagon complex, but no pizza places." Pizza deliveries to the Pentagon reportedly doubled right before the U.S. invasion of Panama in December 1989, and surged again before Operation Desert Storm in 1991. President Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal he was fully aware in advance of the bombing campaign, which Israel says is needed to end Iran's nuclear program. "We know what's going on." For the rest of Americans, pepperoni pie activity was not the only way to tell something was about to happen. Washington had already announced it was moving some diplomats and their families out of the Middle East on Wednesday. And close to an hour before Israel unleashed its firepower on Iran, the U.S. ambassador in Jerusalem, Mike Huckabee, sent out a rather revealing X post: "At our embassy in Jerusalem and closely monitoring the situation. We will remain here all night. 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!'"

Israel Launches 'Rising Lion' Operation Against Iran, Attacks Nuclear and Military Sites

Israel attacked Iran's capital early Friday, with explosions booming across Tehran as Israel said it targeted nuclear and military sites, naming the operation "Rising Lion". People in Tehran awoke to the sound of the blast. State television acknowledged the blast, The AP news reported. It wasn't immediately clear what had been hit, though smoke could be rising from Chitgar, a neighborhood in western Tehran. There are no known nuclear sites in that area — but it wasn't immediately clear if anything was happening in the rest of the country. An Israeli military official says that his country targeted Iranian nuclear sites, without identifying them. The official spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing operation, which is also targeting military sites. Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz said that his country carried out the attack, without saying what it targeted. 'In the wake of the state of Israel's preventive attack against Iran, missile and drone attacks against Israel and its civilian population are expected immediately," he said in a statement. The statement added that Katz 'signed a special order declaring an emergency situation in the home front.' 'It is essential to listen to instructions from the home front command and authorities to stay in protected areas,' it said Iran halted flights Friday at Imam Khomeini International Airport outside of Tehran, the country's main airport, Iranian state TV said. Iran has closed its airspace in the past when launching previous attacks against Israel during the Israel-Hamas war.

Iran has closed its airspace in the past when launching previous attacks against Israel during the Israel-Hamas war. For his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel took 'unilateral action against Iran' and that Israel advised the US that it believed the strikes were necessary for its self-defense. 'We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,' Rubio said in a statement released by the White House. Rubio said the Trump administration took steps to protects its forces and remained in contact with its partners in the region. He also issued a warning to Iran that it should not target US interests or personnel.
