You Can Now Watch ‘Wednesday' Season 2's Haunting Stop-Motion Short
There's a special spooky treat for stop-motion animation fans embedded within season two of Wednesday: a short that's another visual dazzler from the mind of Tim Burton. When Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) joins the Nevermore Academy ranks, he and his roomie Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) get to know about the lore of the school's haunted tree from their dorm RA. In an attempt to scare the young monsters, Ajax (Georgie Farmer) regales them with the tragedy of a brilliant but twisted mind, an outcast who replaced his heart with a mechanical replacement that made him feel invincible. Watch the stop-motion short below, narrated by Farmer as Ajax, which reveals the horrific hubris that fueled the legend of the Skull Tree. View this post on InstagramFans will recognize Burton's vision, which harkens back to his earlier projects such as the Vincent short, The Nightmare Before Christmas (directed by Henry Selick based on Burton's concept), Corpse Bride, and the feature-length Frankenweenie. The Skull Tree lovingly pays homage to Burton's formative creations. There are those signature black and white trademarks of Vincent and Frankenweenie, the stripes and decaying cracked textures as seen in Halloweentown, and of course the eerie tones that are pure, undiluted Burtonesque genius. And the short serves as more than just a schoolhall spooky story; it provides groundwork for a character who is no doubt going to play a pivotal role when Wednesday drops the second half of its second season. As we now know, Pugsley uses his electric ability to revive the mechanical heart of the corpse in the tree, which becomes his zombie friend Slurp, who is hangry for brains that provide more than sustenance; they're essential as food for dark thoughts with a foreboding sense of impending doom. How exactly will that play out? Well, we'll have to wait until September 3, when Wednesday returns on Netflix. You can watch the first half of season two on the streamer now. Want more io9 news? "I was the same height as Jenna in season one. I've grown quite a lot," the 16-year-old actor told PEOPLE with a laugh while attending the premiere for part one of Wednesday's second season at Central Hall Westminster in London. He added that he's now "hovering" over Ortega, 22, and he playfully referred to their height difference as "amazing." Ordonez brings Pugsley Addams to life in the hit Netflix series, which premiered in November 2022 and now returns for a second season on Aug. 6. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! In the show's first season, Wednesday Addams, played by Ortega, is the protective older sibling who tortures anyone who dares to go after her brother. Ordonez raved about getting to work closely with Ortega, telling PEOPLE, "Watching her through the monitor, like, you really start to pick up things." He added of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Scream actress, "She's wonderful. She's such a nice woman." Pugsley didn't follow Wednesday to school at Nevermore in the show's first season. This time around, he's registered as a new student. 'It was definitely a surprise to see how much more I was in it, like a big promotion," Ordonez told NME in July of his enhanced role for season two. Teasing what is in store for Pugsley, Ordonez added, "He's got powers ... he makes a lot of friends, and also [makes] connections with some not so good people. I will say that." Wednesday Season 2's Pugsley Actor Teases Powers in Netflix Show
star Isaac Ordonez teases what viewers can expect from Pugsley Addams in the upcoming Season 2 of Netflix's supernatural comedy series. Wednesday quickly became one of Netflix's most popular shows in 2022, and it has remained at the top of the streaming service's Global Top 10 ratings for several weeks. The first season reintroduced the Addams Family to audiences with new faces portraying the eccentric, gothic family. This includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday and Ordonez as Wednesday's younger brother, Pugsley. However, viewers remember Netflix's Pugsley as a frail character who only made brief appearances in the series. But that will soon change in the second season. In an interview with ScreenRant, the actor revealed that fans will be getting 'a lot more Pugsley this season.' The new season will showcase the character in a more complex light, with Wednesday gaining a bit of respect for his brother due to his newfound powers. But in a typical Wednesday behavior, she is set to use Pugsley's abilities to her advantage. 'I really get to mess around with different sides of his character. In season 1, you see his more emotional side, but in this season, I think we get more of his quirky, devious, mischievous side. But we also keep that emotional side. When he gets to Nevermore, he is very lonely. He's having a hard time making friends, so we do get to see that. I do play around with that,' said Ordonez. Ordonez added, 'I think that now that he has powers, Wednesday has gained a little more respect for him. But she also sees him now as a tool that she can use for her investigations. And if we're talking about how they are as siblings, I'd say they're still your average siblings; they're awkward. That remains the same, because Wednesday doesn't change [laughs].' Wednesday Season 2 will also feature the return of the rest of the Addams family, including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams. Other returning cast members include Emma Myers as Wednesday's roommate Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin (revealed to be the Hyde during Season 1), Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie, with Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) also returning in guest-starring roles. All eight episodes of Season 1 are available to stream on Netflix.

WEDNESDAY Season 2 Sneak Peek Teases a Bigger, Bolder, Creepier Return to Nevermore — GeekTyrant
Netflix just dropped a fun behind-the-scenes preview of Wednesday Season 2, and it's clear that the creepy, kooky chaos is about to crank up to eleven. The sneak peek offer interviews with the cast and crew along with plenty of fun new footage. Jenna Ortega is back as the morbidly magnetic Wednesday Addams, and she couldn't be more thrilled. 'She's one of the coolest characters of all time,' Ortega says. 'So to slip into the costume and tone again, it's just so much fun.' Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) will now be picking up a fencing foil, while little brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) actually enrolls at Nevermore. As if sharing a school with his sister wasn't terrifying enough, Wednesday lays down the law: 'Here are the ground rules… No eye contact without permission,' she tells him. 'And Thing reports to me.' Gough teases Pugsley's journey this season, saying: 'Poor Pugsley. He's kind of an outcast among outcasts this season. Isaac did a really beautiful job of capturing the pathos of Pugsley. Co-showrunner Miles Millar teases even more expansion in scope and character development: 'The scope has expanded in terms of the characters arcs and it's really fun to see them explore a lot more of Nevermore.' Hunter Doohan, who returns as Tyler Galpin, promises the tone and energy of the series remains intact, it's just amped up. 'Everything people loved about season 1. They've just turned the dial up on everything.' This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.'
