West Bromwich Albion's all-time leading goalscorer Tony 'Bomber' Brown said he sees similarities between himself and in-form Baggies striker Isaac 21-year-old scored the only goal in the club's Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers, and struck twice in Saturday's 3-2 victory at performance drew praise from Brown, who scored 279 times in 17 years for West Brom. "He's a good technical player," Brown, 79, told BBC Radio WM. "He finds holes, spaces, and he plays just behind the front man."He plays the kind of game that I used to play - waiting for gaps to appear and scoring goals. And he's got that ability to bend the ball, to manipulate the ball." After moving to the Hawthorns in January from Belgian side Standard Liege, Price scored once in 15 appearances last season. But the Northern Ireland international's early season burst has made him the division's leading said: "It's been said a few times over the last few weeks that he's going to be a top player, and so far, at the start of the season, it looks that way."

Championship Wrap: Mikey Johnston manages two assists off the bench
Isaac Price scored twice, and Jed Wallace added a third as West Brom sank Wrexham 3-2 in front of their famous star owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Lewis O'Brien equalised three minutes before half-time, but there was no Hollywood ending for the hosts despite Sam Smith's stoppage-time strike. Republic of Ireland international Mikey Johnston came off the bench in the 73rd minute and managed an impressive two assists in his short time on the pitch. Johnston joined the West Midlands outfit last year for a €3.5 million fee following a loan spell from Celtic. Jeremy Monga became the second tier's youngest-ever goalscorer but could not prevent Leicester losing 2-1 at Preston. The substitute, aged 16 years and 37 days, beat the record previously held by Jude Bellingham when cancelled out Alfie Devine's early opener. However, Milutin Osmajic struck five minutes from full-time to secure the points for Preston. Stoke made it two Championship wins from two matches and piled on the misery for crisis-club Sheffield Wednesday. Owls fans were still protesting against owner Dejphon Chansiri when Million Manhoef put the visitors ahead inside the opening minute. Early in the second half Manchester City loanee Divin Mubama scored his second goal of the season before Manhoef struck again to wrap up a 3-0 win. A late Jay Stansfield penalty and a Lyndon Dykes goal eight minutes into stoppage time gave Birmingham a dramatic 2-1 win at Blackburn, who led through Todd Cantwell. Goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ephron Mason-Clark and Victor Torp saw Coventry come from 3-2 down to win 5-3 at Derby. A lucky Bobby Thomas goal put City ahead but Derby hit back through Callum Elder's free-kick. Haji Wright and Carlton Morris both scored from the spot and Ebou Adams fired Derby ahead before Coventry staged their dramatic comeback. First-half goals from Harry Darling and Josh Sargent gave Norwich a 2-1 win at Portsmouth, who scored a consolation through Adrian Segecic while Colby Bishop missed a penalty. Hayden Hackney, Alfie Jones and Delano Burgzorg were on target as Middlesbrough won 3-0 at Millwall and Brazilian winger Ronald's goal ensured Swansea sank Sheffield United 1-0. Luca Kjerrumgaard grabbed a brace as Watford beat QPR 2-1, with Kieran Morgan hitting a consolation, while Charlton drew 0-0 at Bristol City.

Ireland international comes off the bench to inspire West Brom win
Updated at 17.17 IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Mikey Johnston came off the bench to inspire West Brom's 3-2 win over Wrexham in the Championship today. The 26-year-old looked to be on his way out of the Baggies during the summer, but a proposed £5 million (€5.8 million) move to Brazilian side Flamengo collapsed after it was met with a fan backlash. With the two sides drawing 1-1, Johnston was introduced in the 73rd minute today and proceeded to register two assists in seven minutes to inspire a victory for the visitors. Fellow Ireland international Jayson Molumby completed 90 minutes for Ryan Mason's side, while James McClean — who also claimed an assist for Wrexham's opening goal — captained the Welsh outfit, with Tom O'Connor and Eoghan O'Connell unused subs. Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney saw West Brom spoil their Championship return on home soil at the SToK Cae Ras. The Hollywood stars were among the capacity 10,656 crowd as Wrexham played at home in the second tier of English football for the first time since beating Rotherham 3-2 on 15 May, 1982. But goals from Isaac Price — who added a double to his opening-day winner against Blackburn — and substitute Jed Wallace condemned Wrexham to a second successive Championship defeat after their opening loss at Southampton. Lewis O'Brien provided hope with an equaliser three minutes before half-time, but there was no Hollywood ending for Wrexham in front of their celebrity owners despite Sam Smith's stoppage-time strike. Kieffer Moore started for Wrexham despite initial fears he had suffered serious ankle ligament damage in their season opener. Record midweek £10 million (€11.5 million) signing Nathan Broadhead was among the substitutes as boss Phil Parkinson made one change from the late defeat on the south coast, with McClean recalled against his former club. Advertisement McClean was the first to go close after 13 minutes, reaching Ryan Barnett's cross that sailed over the head of Albion goalkeeper Alex Griffiths but steering wide of the far post. Tom Fellows snatched at a chance at the other end, but the impressive winger was instrumental in Albion taking the lead. McClean diverted Fellows' cross into Price's path, and the Northern Ireland international took full advantage of the space afforded to him by sweeping home. Isaac Price strikes to give the Baggies a 1-0 lead against Wrexham ⚽️🔵 — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) August 16, 2025 Broadhead made his debut earlier than expected after Josh Windass pulled up, but Albion almost doubled their lead through Darnell Furlong's skimming shot. Wrexham got up a head of steam just before the interval, with McClean testing Griffiths at the base of a post. Moore headed the resulting corner over and then set up the equaliser with a cross that McClean failed to control. "The Dragons roar!" 🐉 Lewis O'Brien scores his first goal for Wrexham to bring his side level 💥 — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) August 16, 2025 The ball fell to O'Brien, who struck it into the ground and past Griffiths for his first Wrexham goal. Broadhead almost opened his Wrexham account after the restart, but West Brom were the more dangerous side. Danny Ward was grateful to see a couple of attempts fly wide of his goal and held Nat Phillips' header under his crossbar. The clearest chance, though, fell to Conor Coady, who sent a free header wide of the Albion goal from eight yards out. Jed Wallace provides an instant impact, scoring just 28 seconds after coming on 🤩⏱️ — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) August 16, 2025 It was to prove a costly miss as Wallace scored with his first touch after 74 minutes when spotting and finding a gap at Ward's near post. Ward was left badly exposed nine minutes from time when Price was granted the freedom of the area to head home Johnston's cross. "He's proving excellent value!" 🤑 Isaac Price has a brace and has put West Brom two goals up at the Racecourse Ground 👏 — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) August 16, 2025 Substitute Smith scored with almost the final kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but West Brom were worthy winners. Wrexham score to make it 3-2 just before the whistle blows ⚽️⌛️ — Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) August 16, 2025 In League One, Aaron Connolly scored with a clinical finish for his first goal since joining Leyton Orient in their 2-2 draw with Stockport. Having set up Connolly's goal, former Ireland U21 international Ollie O'Neill then scored a last-gasp equaliser to earn his side a point. A brace from Ireland international James Collins helped Leyton Orient beat Plymouth Argyle 3-2. Ex-Waterford forward Owen Oseni got a goal back for the visitors — his third in three games — but it proved immaterial. Former Ireland international David McGoldrick continued a promising start to his career with Conor Hourihane's Barnsley. The 37-year-old striker scored his second goal in three games amid a 1-1 draw with Bolton. Additional reporting by Paul Fennessy
