This Unexpected Hardware Trend Is Heating Up Summer Footwear
Sandals have long been the quintessential symbol of summer—effortlessly cool, breezy, and always at the ready to showcase that freshly painted pedi. And while classic leather slides and minimalist styles never go out of season, this summer's sandal trends are leaning in a new direction. Amid the renaissance of boho textures—suede, fringe, bold prints—a tougher element has made its way onto the scene: the stud. So, I'm breaking down the best studded sandals to shop now. The Best Studded Sandals Most commonly found on handbags or ballet flats, studs have turned the sandal into something a little sharper, a bit edgier. Designers like Khaite, Chloé, and Isabel Marant have all embraced the look on recent runways, proving that a few well-placed studs can shift a sandal from simple to show-stopper. Whether you're impartial to a structural clog sandal or more inclined toward that of a flashy peep-toe, here are thirteen studded pairs worth slipping into this season. Khaite's Boden sandals are a triple threat—chic, comfortable, and customizable with adjustable snap-fastening straps. Dress them down with flare-legged jeans or embrace the bohemian by styling them with a floaty dress. Sizes: 35-42 Colors: Natural, Black, Dark Tan These feature wide Velcro ankle straps and a supportive sole, offering a secure fit that's perfect for even the most heel-averse shoppers. Sizes: 5-12 Colors: Perfect Black, Camello While khaki yellow hasn't risen to fame by name, the subtle shade has penetrated the zeitgeist along with its fellow earth tones as of late. These platforms adopt the hue, adding a few inches and silver buckles for an oomph that you'll be hesitant to retire come summer's end. Sizes: 7-8.5 Colors: Khaki/Silver Simon Miller is often defined by maximalism, and this recent iteration of the iconic bubble slide is no exception. Plus, the pillowy build makes for the perfect cushioned style. Sizes: 5-11 Colors: Chestnut/Brass From burgundy tights to burgundy boots, this color dominated last fall. According to this year's swim trends, though, the flattering jewel tone isn't content to stay parked in the colder months. Case in point: this studded iteration of Isabel Marant's beloved Lennyo sandal, an effortless transition into summer styling. Sizes: 8-9 Colors: Burgundy, Black As the denim on denim trend powers on, I ask myself: Why stop at the hemline? A tasteful addition to any look, these studded mules offer a bit of retro glam in the form of a wooden wedge. Sizes: 36-41 Colors: Blue Jean Adorned with studs and suede paneling, these buckled sandals turned my head not only for their eye-catching details but for their affordable price tag, too. And is that arch support I see? Sizes: 6-11 Colors: Black Screen-printed with the logo signature of Miu Miu, this pair is the ideal statement sandal for those looking to add a little edge—or just a pop of color. Sizes: 34-43 Colors: Red, Begonia Pink, White, Black Seeking a more subtle incorporation of studs into your look? This strappy pair from Mango offers an understated hint of hardware. Sizes: 5-10 Colors: Black, Brown Imagine my glee at the resurgence of the flip-flop, aided by Gigi Hadid's Havaianas collaboration. If you're thinking about easing back into the timeless thong style, I recommend this studded pair from Madewell, outfitted with a buckled ankle strap. Colors: True Black, Cherry Wood, Tawny Khaki If you plan on hitting the beach clubs and rooftop bars this summer, consider this wooden heeled peep-toe pair to elevate every look. Colors: 6 options In the sculptural style signature of Alaïa, these buckled thong sandals offer all-over studs atop an eye-catching form. Colors: Brown As someone who admittedly does not fare well in a high heel, I am thankful that the kitten heel has made a fashionable comeback. This chic pair is the ideal pick for a dressed-up night spent dining al fresco. Sizes: 6-10 Colors: Black Every product featured on is independently researched, tested, or editor-approved. Step up your style: Gladiator sandals and ballerina pumps are the must-have trends of 2025
Gladiator sandals and ballerina pumps are taking centre stage in 2025's fashion landscape. Image: Instagram Like any other iconic fashion piece, Gladiator sandals and pumps have stomped their way back into the fashion scene, and this time, they are trendier than ever. This year's fashion scene has seen trends like flared jeans and bandage dresses make a comeback, and millennials are rocking these items most fashionably. If you've ever owned a pair of Gladiator sandals or pumps, consider yourself an iconic fashionista because you have likely braved the fashion trenches and emerged victorious. These shoes were once very much criticised by many the same way they have been admired. You were either so daring and fashion forward for sporting them, or your fashion sense was definitely questioned. Gladiator sandals Gladiator sandals have their roots in ancient Rome, where they were worn by gladiators, hence the name. These strappy sandals were designed for functionality, providing support and protection for the feet during battles. Fast forward to the present time, and they have become trendier and more stylish. Not only can they be worn as sandals, but they also come in heels. They have also been making a comeback on the fashion runways because that's where most trends start, right? This time around, they are trendier than ever, with designers incorporating less bold buckles and less chunky straps compared to the early 2000s statement-making details. They come in different styles, such as the mid-calf designs and the ankle strap design. The strappy shoes strutted their way down several Spring/Summer 2025 runways, making appearances at Dior, Isabel Marant, and Alberta Ferretti, among others. Celebrities like Tyla have taken gladiator shoes from the runway shows to street style. She has been spotted wearing stylish knee-high gladiator heels in most of her music videos and on red carpets. Ballerina pumps Ballerina pumps, on the other hand, have a more delicate history. They originated from the ballet world, where dancers wore lightweight, minimalist shoes that allowed for flexibility and movement. Over time, designers adapted this style for the fashion world, creating dainty, delicate shoes that added a touch of elegance to any outfit. We used to have jelly ballet pumps, and those were trendy; if you did not have a pair, you definitely felt the FOMO. As they return to the fashion scene, they have become trendier and versatile, from mesh designs to satin. Today, ballet flats are the ultimate winter and summer work shoe, striking the perfect balance between comfort and professionalism. They are also easy to style and can pair surprisingly well with pants or dresses.

Primark's 'comfy' £10 sandals look 'just like' £550 designer Isabel Marant pair
The Primark shoes bear a striking resemblance to a much more expensive pair from designer Isabel Marant Primark is currently selling a pair of shoes that are remarkably similar to a more expensive counterpart. The high street giant, renowned for its budget-friendly fashion and homeware, may have just launched a new latest crowd-pleaser. The Rita Ora Studded Toe Loop Sandals from Primark bear a striking resemblance to a style by luxury brand Isabel Marant but at a fraction of the price. Shoppers can bag the Primark version for £10, while the designer alternative retails at £550 online. Both pairs feature matching brown, asymmetrical straps and ankle strap-style designs, complete with gold-tone hardware and a toe loop. Both straps feature suede-look material too. However, there are some differences between the two. The designer shoes have flat gold studs, while the ones seen on Primark's versions are not. The Isabel Marant version are also made with real leather, unlike Primark's shoes. Primark describes the sandals as "toe loop sandals with golden tone studs, a flat sole and adjustable ankle strap from the Rita Ora collection." They are available in tan or black. The full Primark product description reads: "Keep your steps stylish this summer with these toe loop sandals from the Rita Ora collection. Designed with brown slim asymmetrical straps, they wrap neatly across the foot. The adjustable ankle strap ensures a secure fit, while golden tone studs add a touch of shine. "A flat sole keeps things comfy for all-day wear, whether you're heading to the beach or out for brunch. Pair with everything from floaty dresses to cropped jeans to give your outfit a dose of celebrity style." The complete designer description states: "Isabel Marant's 'Jiona' sandals are the perfect complement to the label's signature bohemian dresses. Crafted in Italy from supple leather, they're traced with gold-tone studs and have a wraparound profile. Find the perfect fit using the adjustable buckles." Primark's Rita Ora Studded Toe Loop Sandals retail for £10, while the Isabel Marant Jiona studded leather slingback sandals come in at £550. This means shoppers could save £540 by opting for the cheaper alternative. Shoppers can now get their hands on the Primark shoes, in black or tan, in stores. There's A Summer Maxi Dress For Everyone - Here Are The 5 Styles To Shop Now
There's nothing quite like wafting along a beach or indeed, through one's favourite city, in the swathes of a summer maxi dress. Luckily, for SS25, designers have given us plenty to choose from in the way of floor-skimming styles. The minimal maxi continues its quiet reign, but this time it features extra-special detailing and interesting necklines. See the halter maxi, which was seen with barely-there straps at Michael Kors and Di Petsa, and with necklace-like embellishments at Schiaparelli, Tibi, and Isabel Marant. Zendaya also wore an excellent halterneck maxi last year, in white, which we plan to replicate somewhere far flung. For the Grecian getaway, may we suggest a maxi laden with draping and gathering in all the right places – ideally in a brilliant jewel shade, as at Victoria Beckham and Jacquemus, where such dresses were teamed with coordinating bags. Alternatively, consider a one-shoulder silhouette; it makes an otherwise classic jersey dress instantly more compelling, as evidenced at Dior, where a black asymmetric maxi was paired with gladiator sandals. There are skin-baring styles, too – crocheted numbers that can be thrown over bikinis or worn as dresses in their own right, atop well-chosen underwear or a tonal slip. Ellie Bamber opted for a densely-crocheted maxi at Cannes in May, and there was a whole host to choose from – in varying opacities – on the SS25 catwalks, from Chanel to Alaia. Diaphanous, sheer maxis ruled at Sportmax, Alberta Ferretti, and Chloé, where Chemena Kamali championed the chiffon, ruffle-adorned, boho maxi for a second season. Speaking of, we still can't stop thinking about Daisy Edgar Jones in that cornflower-blue concoction from the designer's AW25 collection. Now, to the summer maxi dresses you can buy now. Let the wafting commence. The crocheted summer maxi is a must-pack for your summer holiday; wear it with a zingy-hued bikini or layered over a bandeau and big knickers for beachside suppers. Don't be afraid to go big on the jewellery. Do like Di Petsa and style a draped maxi with bare feet and sea-drenched hair after a beach swim, or follow Victoria Beckham's lead and team a slinky silk version with practical flats and an oversized tote for a day of errands that turns into evening plans. Sweep your hair up to show off the spaghetti-thin neckline of a minimal, halterneck maxi dress. Something in linen or cotton is perfect for daytime, with leather flip flops or ballet flats, or consider a style in scarlet or burgundy crepe for night-time. An otherwise pared-back dress is given a little va-va-voom with the help of an asymmetric neckline. A one-shoulder style offers the perfect opportunity to show off a statement necklace or arm cuff. The naked dress returns for another summer, from distinctly modern, organza tunics to romantic, ruffled maxis. Paloma Wool's Zanic style has built-in opaque panels for coverage, or be more daring in Rat & Boa's translucent leopard slip. Both look great with flip flops and undone hair. Isabel Marant Resort 2026 Collection
When Isabel Marant, the brand, goes in for romance, it's always with a touch of grit. Take florals: garden blooms may be the classic trope for spring, but here creative director Kim Bekker grafted them with a lashing of Victoriana and the Far West to come up with a different, more nuanced attitude. 'We wanted to create a compelling contrast between delicate and tough elements,' Bekker offered during a showroom preview. She wasn't just talking about the women's pre-collection; the men's lineup was plenty poetic, too. When treated as all-over motifs, florals cropped up sprinkled like polka dots over a draped jersey dress, or as a kind of a hybrid between an ikat and a tie-dye motif. More impactful, however, were abstractions rendered through laser cutting on a white leather minidress or etched in metal studs and gradient eyelets on a black velvet jacket. Fans who go in for a little cowboy inspo will have fun with the western-leaning blouse and black dress here. But this collection is just as much about Victoriana, with cinched waists, ruffles, and revisited mutton sleeves-as-power shoulders. Refreshingly, save a couple of very pretty numbers in densely-enough worked lace, the brand isn't leaning hard on transparency. 'Sexiness doesn't need to be nakedness,' Bekker quipped. Instead, soft fabrics, faux fur, and lace made for easy, feminine silhouettes muscled up a bit with strong statement earrings. Edginess came in staples like raw denim, leather jackets, and boots that nodded westward but were carefully dosed and filtered by way of the Place des Victoires. Speaking of Parisian chic, the cult, slouchy, minuscule-heeled Edrik boot is back for tucking in billowy trousers or pairing with stick-straight jeans, now with laser-cut moons that wink as the wearer walks. But there's a new low ballerina boot in town, too: the Ferix seems to be Isabel Marant's answer to mesh. Take a closer look, and you'll see those cut-outs are tiny hearts—how in the world they pulled that off without going 'cute' is the brand's secret sauce.
