Duke basketball's Isaiah Evans is one of 106 players on a list of early entry candidates for the 2025 NBA Draft. The NBA released the full list April 29. Evans, who is set to return for his sophomore season with the Blue Devils, appears to be going through the draft process to get feedback before returning to Duke. He's projected to be a first-round pick in next year's draft. Advertisement On April 22, Evans confirmed his return to the Blue Devils with a social media post when the program's official X account asked him if he would be back for a second season in Durham. 'Yea' was Evans' reply. A 6-foot-6 wing, Evans shot 41.6% from beyond the arc and made multiple 3-pointers in 17 games as a freshman, including five in a row during his best stretch of the season. He averaged 6.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 13.7 minutes across 36 games. As a sophomore, Evans projects to be included in Duke's starting lineup. Duke Freshman Makes Massive Decision Before 2025 NBA Draft

It's been yet another interesting NCAA basketball offseason with the transfer portal being used to its highest potential. Players are moving from team to team and there has been some exciting news that has struck all throughout the short-lived offseason so far. Advertisement After a disappointing end to the Duke Blue Devils season, losing in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament to Houston as the heavy favorite to win it all. Houston celebrates after its Final Four win against Duke. Bob Donnan-Imagn Images One of Duke's five-star recruits from last season has been testing the 2025 NBA Draft's waters and was, at first, ready to see if the NBA was going to be his next chapter for next season. At first, Isaiah Evans was ready to go through the NBA Draft process, entering his name into the draft to see how it would go. He was anticipated to be a second round pick this year and would have the chance to land on an NBA roster for the 2025-26 season. Advertisement Things have changed since then. After weeks of speculation, the 6-foot-6, 19-year-old guard withdrew his name from the draft and decided to return to Duke for his sophomore campaign, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel. Although Duke has several prospects that are anticipated to be selected in the upcoming draft – players like Cooper Flagg, Kon Kneuppel and Khaman Maluach, Evans will be one that fans won't be hearing his named called in June. After a freshman season in which he saw limited playing time – averaging 6.8 points, 1.1 rebounds, and shooting 41.6% from three in just 13.7 minutes per game – he'll look to take on a bigger role with the Blue Devils next season and boost his draft stock. Duke guard Isaiah Evans to withdraw from NBA draft, return for sophomore year

Duke guard Isaiah Evans withdrew from the 2025 NBA draft on Sunday, clearing the way for the former five-star recruit to return to the Blue Devils for his sophomore season. Evans averaged 6.8 points and 1.1 rebounds on 41.6% shooting from 3-point range in 36 games this past season. He finished in double figures 11 times, including a season-high 19 points and two rebounds on March 1 in a win over Florida State. The 19-year-old declared for the draft while maintaining his eligibility and was among the 75 prospects invited to the combine this week in Chicago, Illinois. With the annual scouting event set to tip off, the league announced that Evans will not be participating at the Wintrust Arena. Evans wasn't projected to be selected by most mock drafts, which likely factored into his decision to return to Durham. Players also now have more earning potential in college basketball with the rise of name, image and likeness (NIL) and can afford to wait to turn pro. The former McDonald's All-American is highly touted for his ability as a scorer, from spacing the floor to finishing at the rim. He should have the opportunity to play a larger role next season, with the likes of Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach off to the NBA. Need a break? Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer also signed former Washington State forward Cedric Coward via the transfer portal.
