Duke basketball's Isaiah Evans is one of 106 players on a list of early entry candidates for the 2025 NBA Draft.
The NBA released the full list April 29. Evans, who is set to return for his sophomore season with the Blue Devils, appears to be going through the draft process to get feedback before returning to Duke. He's projected to be a first-round pick in next year's draft.

On April 22, Evans confirmed his return to the Blue Devils with a social media post when the program's official X account asked him if he would be back for a second season in Durham. 'Yea' was Evans' reply.
A 6-foot-6 wing, Evans shot 41.6% from beyond the arc and made multiple 3-pointers in 17 games as a freshman, including five in a row during his best stretch of the season. He averaged 6.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 13.7 minutes across 36 games. As a sophomore, Evans projects to be included in Duke's starting lineup.

The NBA Draft Combine in Chicago is set for May 11-18. Players who want to maintain their college eligibility must withdraw their names by May 28. The 2025 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 25-26 in Brooklyn.
Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach and Tyrese Proctor are the other Blue Devils on the NBA's list of early entrants. Duke's freshman starters from last season are projected to be top-10 picks.
Washington State transfer Cedric Coward, who committed to Duke on April 28, is also among the players set to go through the draft process. Coward, like Evans, could be in Duke's starting lineup to start the 2025-26 season, which is Jon Scheyer's fourth as head coach.

DCE rattled in post-game drama as axed QLD player sends statement to Billy Slater
Daly Cherry Evans' week has gone from bad to worse after the axed Queensland captain flopped in Manly's hiding by the Gold Coast Titans on Friday night. Billy Slater's decision to drop DCE from his Origin Game 2 side failed to illicit the sort of response the Sea Eagles would have hoped for as Titans coach Des Hasler got one over his old club to mastermind a 28-8 win. And a wild post-match incident with a fan topped it off for Cherry-Evans. On the other hand, Beau Fermor sent a statement to Slater that his axing from the Queensland side was the wrong call after starring in Gold Coast's big win. The Titans are still bottom of the ladder, while the loss sees Manly lose further ground on the top eight ahead of next week's bye. The Sea Eagles suffered a double blow, with powerhouse forward Haumole Olakau'atu also dislocating a shoulder after dropping the ball over the tryline, with the injury likely to sideline him for a number of weeks. But it was another insipid defeat away to a lowly ranked opponent that should leave Manly coach Anthony Seibold concerned. Gold Coast had 11 players unavailable, with two in Origin camps and nine out with injury. And for the first time since 2015, Manly had no players on Origin duty and were essentially at full strength, barring the absence of Lehi Hopoate (concussion). Many expected a big game from DCE after his Maroons axing but apart from one classy try assist in the first half, the Manly skipper and his side were underwhelming. Cherry-Evans had two wayward kicks that gave the Titans seven-tackle sets and failed to spark his side's spluttering attack, with fullback Tom Trbojevic also struggling in his return from injury. DCE was also left rattled in wild post-match scenes when a supporter ran onto the field and grabbed him, before being tackled to the ground by two security officials. But the Manly skipper insisted the disappointment of being dropped as Maroons skipper didn't affect his performance. "The start of the week was tough," Cherry-Evans said. "On Sunday, I got the news and on Monday I had to go to training and face the boys "After that it honestly started to feel normal. The initial news was tough but I moved on and thought we were going to come here and play some good footy. "Based on our preparation, it looked like all the signs were there. Unfortunately, the most important part of the week is showing up on game day and we didn't do that." DCE also addressed speculation the Roosters could get cold feet and pull the pin on an expected move there next season, due to his patchy form. "I sort of don't understand that stuff - I stay out of it," DCE added. "All I can do is control my footy at Manly and speculation will be speculation. But obviously we've just lost a couple in a row so it would be silly for me to be worrying about stuff like that." WATCH: Daly Cherry-Evans was grabbed by a fan in wild scenes after the loss to the Titans #NRL #Titans #Manly — NRLCentral (@nrlcentrall) June 13, 2025 While DCE struggled on Friday night, fellow Maroons discard Fermor showed that Slater might have made the wrong call. Fermor didn't have much chance to make an impact in limited minutes off the bench for the Maroons in the Origin decider and lost his spot to Kurt Capewell for Game 2. RELATED: Calls for immediate change amid apparent NSW rule breach Nathan Cleary comes clean amid rumour around Mary Fowler But Fermor - who has been one of the form second-rowers in the NRL this season - had an outstanding game for the Titans and was instrumental to their 20-point home victory. Fermor played a key role in a number of Gold Coast four-pointers and made a last-ditch, try-saving tackle on Olakau'atu, that ultimately resulted in injury for the Manly star. Gold Coast's Alofiana Khan-Pereira also became the fastest man to score 50 tries in the NRL era, bagging a double in his 52nd NRL game. What a week for Beau Fermor! After being relieved of his duties for @QLDmaroons he had a stormer for @GCTitans tonight in a surprise 28-8 win over @SeaEagles A busted forehead couldn't stop him! He believes the Titans can turn the season around! — Zane Bojack (@zanofc) June 13, 2025 Billy really played Fermor 15 mins then drops him to have Cotter start on an edge😂! Glad we have you back though Beau! That QLD 12 Jersey is yours once QLD has a coaching staff change👍#NRLTitansManly — (@skunjip_29) June 13, 2025 How the hell is Fermor not starting on the left edge for QLD will do me! #nrltitansmanly — Michael Andrews (@Michael26123906) June 13, 2025 with AAP

Fans React to Anthony Edwards Getting Adidas Cleats Before Noah Lyles
Fans React to Anthony Edwards Getting Adidas Cleats Before Noah Lyles originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Anthony Edwards continues to rise in popularity as one of the NBA's main attractions, thanks to his on-court performances. He and the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated the Lakers and Warriors from the playoffs, with superstars LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Steph Curry, and Jimmy Butler forced to watch the other rounds from afar. Advertisement Edwards and his squad couldn't eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it seems that Minnesota will be a serious contender thanks to Ant-Man and his supporting cast members. And they could receive an upgrade by adding an impressive rookie via the NBA Draft or trading for Kevin Durant during the offseason. He's got a signature basketball shoe with Adidas with the Anthony Edwards 1 Low, and it's set to expand into another sport. An interesting development recently arrived with Ant's sneaker, as news hit that he and the shoe brand are dropping AE 1 football cleats next year. Advertisement The Nice Kicks X account dropped an early look at the upcoming shoe for the gridiron, and for those wondering, Edwards excelled at youth football in Georgia before switching his focus to hoops. Fan reactions to the AE 1 cleats have seemed mostly positive without knowing how well these shoes will work for football. That said, many individuals couldn't help but mention a fellow USA Olympic athlete. "Noah is not going to like this," a popular comment on the X post said. "Noah Lyles fuming somewhere rn," another X commenter wrote. "Now do it for track and field. I wanna see something real quick," one commenter said. Advertisement "How a NBA player got the best football cleats lol," someone asked in an X comment. Both Edwards and Lyles achieved gold at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Ant's came from Team USA basketball, while Lyles won his in the men's 100 metres event. He's touted himself as a "six-time world champion." Earlier this month, former NFL star Cam Newton asked Lyles about the perceived beef or quarrel between him and Edwards. Last year, a video from The Guardian features Lyles calling out Team USA basketball as "world champions of what?" While talking with Newton on his podcast, the track and field star explained his contract situation with Adidas and how he previously expressed interest to them in having a signature shoe like Edwards does. Lyles told Newton that he requires spikes for running and Adidas makes 'some of the best in the world" so he likely wouldn't go with another brand despite his frustration with them. However, the popular shoe company hasn't released a line of signature track and field cleats for him. Advertisement Meanwhile, Ant is adding football cleats in 2026 as he continues to expand his AE 1 offerings with Adidas. Russell Westbrook Contract Decision Has Massive Salary Implications for Nuggets
Russell Westbrook Contract Decision Has Massive Salary Implications for Nuggets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Nuggets' core roster is already slated to look a bit different in 2025-26, and the 2024-25 NBA offseason hasn't even officially begun just yet. Advertisement Denver majority owner Josh Kroenke shockingly fired both 10-year head coach Michael Malone and championship general manager Calvin Booth with just days remaining in the Nuggets' regular season, replacing them with interim head coach David Adelman and interim GM Ben Tazer. While Adelman has shaken the interim sticker and will serve as the Nuggets' long-term head coaching option, Tazer's status is more tenuous, even with the 2025 NBA Draft and free agency now just weeks away. The Nuggets finished the regular season with a 50-32 record and pushed the NBA Finals-bound Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in their second round playoff encounter. Denver was severely hampered by that seventh semifinal contest, with starting forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon striving to play through major injuries. Apr 9, 2025; Sacramento, California, USA; Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook (4) directs his team against the Sacramento Kings during the first quarter at Golden 1 Center. Mandatory Credit: Ed Szczepanski-Imagn Images Ed Szczepanski-Imagn Images Adelman's rotations were fairly limited, and he had to lean on erratic or unproven bench players to add a spark. Eventually, the Nuggets' luck ran out. Advertisement One of those bench pieces appears to be ready to move on. Former nine-time All-Star and 2017 league MVP Russell Westbrook will reportedly decline his $3.47 million player option for next year and instead explore unrestricted free agency, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line (via Substack). Westbrook, 36, had until June 29 to make a decision on the second year of the two-season deal he had agreed to with Denver last summer. The 6-foot-4 UCLA alum is now slated to join potentially his seventh NBA franchise across the last eight seasons. Still, there's a chance Westbrook could stick around. Advertisement He averaged solid numbers off the bench for Denver, while staying healthy throughout the regular season and playoffs. Across 75 available regular season bouts, Westbrook averaged 13.3 points on a .449/.323/.661 slash line, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 swipes. In reduced playing time, those numbers shrank a bit during the postseason. He averaged 11.7 points on inefficient shooting splits of .391/.317/.700, along with 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists (against 2.3 turnovers), and 0.9 steals. The biggest issues with Westbrook are his inclination to hold the ball for too long (especially on a team with elite creators like three-time MVP center Nikola Jokic and guard Jamal Murray), his inconsistent off-ball effort, his poor jump-shooting, and his disengaged defense. He may have some value as an eighth man, especially in the regular season, but giving him significant playoff minutes at this stage is risky. Bobby Marks of ESPN unpacks how Denver's cap situation benefits from Westbrook's reported decision. The Nuggets are understandably desperate to help Jokic win his second title with the franchise after two disappointing second round playoff exits. Denver thankfully now has some breathing room below the NBA's harshly punitive second luxury tax apron, with 12 players currently signed. Advertisement The team can now use its $5.7 taxpayer mid-level exception, a mechanism that would have been unavailable to Denver as a second apron team, and two veteran minimum slots to add new talent around its core of Jokic, Murray and Gordon. Key swingman Christian Braun is still on his rookie-scale contract at present, but will become extension-eligible this summer, and could fetch a major raise. But the Nuggets can worry about what a likely-pricey Braun deal kicking in for 2025-26 will do to their payroll later. For now, the team should focus on affordable help for Jokic, and perhaps sniff around possible Porter trade packages.
