I Tired of too many ads? go ad free now ndore: Rajendra Nagar police arrested four persons involved in four high-profile burglary cases and recovered stolen goods worth approximately Rs 75 lakh from them on Friday. DCP Vinod Meena said that the arrests and recoveries were made after investigation was launched into the four burglaries reported between April 29 and May 6 across various residences in Shivalay Bijalpur, Haidari Park Colony and Nihalpuri Mundi. Meena said that one of the arrested persons Ishaq, 45, has five cases of theft and others registered against him at Rajendra Nagar police station. Ishaq was also absconding for three years in a robbery case registered at Badnagar police station in Ujjain. The other accused Shailendra Solanki, 45, a resident of Lasudia, has four cases registered against him in Rajendra Nagar, Indore, and Dewas. The third, Vikas alias Bunty Meena, 31, has 14 cases of theft, housebreaking, robbery, and others registered against him in Rajendra Nagar, Sehore, Sujalpur, Bhopal, Shajapur, Vidisha, and other districts while Sanjay alias Hydra Malviya, 23, also has five cases in Dewas and Rajendra Nagar police stations. The recovered items include around 200 gram gold and five kg silver jewellery, seven luxury watches—two of which are of a high-value brand—and over five kg antique coins and heirloom items believed to be 75 to 80 years old. Police also recovered Rs 3.13 lakh in cash, a stolen motorcycle, an SUV and tools such as cutters, pliers, hooks, screwdrivers, and other equipment used in the crimes. The DCP said that a special team was formed that used informants and technical surveillance to track the suspects. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He said that the burglars would first conduct reconnaissance in residential areas to identify secluded and unoccupied houses. Once a target house was selected, they would choose a method of entry based on the structure of the house, such as scaling outer pipes to access rooftops, breaking skylights, and forcing door locks. They avoided carrying mobile phones during the crimes to prevent tracking and fled to other states after selling off the stolen items. They would fix a specific time for the burglary, based on the area and execute the theft in a well-planned manner, stealing gold and silver jewellery along with cash. ACP Rubina Mizwani said that crucial intelligence revealed that the accused were attempting to sell the stolen goods from a white, unregistered SUV in Indore area. Acting on this information, police intercepted the vehicle near Kundan Nagar Main Road. After a brief chase extending five kilometres, the police blocked the suspects' path and apprehended them. Their interrogation led to the recovery of all stolen goods. The accused were taken into custody and will be presented in the court on Saturday.

Oman: OCCI eyes retail revival through events, investment push

Muscat – The Trade and Retail Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has outlined a series of initiatives aimed at revitalising the retail sector and stimulating business activity. At a meeting chaired by Hassan bin Jamea al Ishaq on Sunday, committee members reviewed plans to launch a specialised study in collaboration with a professional consultancy. The study will examine the root causes behind weak market activity and recommend practical measures to improve commercial performance across sectors. The committee discussed plans for a series of sector-focused seminars targeting key areas of retail, including malls, traditional markets, clothing, jewellery, furniture, perfumes and cosmetics. A proposal to develop a comprehensive national calendar of events and trade exhibitions was highlighted as a means to support retail growth. 'We are working to launch strategic initiatives that enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the retail sector in line with market and consumer expectations,' Ishaq said. 'Our approach is rooted in strong public-private partnerships and we are addressing ongoing sector challenges – such as electricity tariffs, direct import support for local companies and incentives to attract new investors.' The committee is also working on regulatory improvements for e-commerce to better serve both businesses and consumers. A key proposal discussed was hosting the Middle East Retail Expo in Oman. 'Such an event would elevate Oman's profile as a regional trading hub and strengthen ties between international investors and local businesses,' Ishaq said. © Apex Press and Publishing Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. US to establish two military bases in Kurdish-held areas of Syria: Rojava official

Also in Syria German diplomat meets Rojava officials over Damascus talks, US pullout 16 ISIS suspects detained in Rojava's al-Hol camp US warns of potential attacks in Syria SDF, US-led coalition discuss future of Tishreen Dam A+ A- ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The United States plans to relocate its troops in Syria to two new military bases, one near Turkey-held areas and another on the Syria-Iraq border and maintain at least 400 soldiers in Kurdish-held areas, an official from the northeast Syria (Rojava) administration in Washington DC said on Monday. Bassam Ishaq, a US-based member of the Syrian Democratic Council's Presidential Council, told Rudaw's Nalin Hassan that the US is carrying out a 'relocation of positions,' opening a new base 'in northern Syria near the Tishreen Dam,' with another to be established 'near the Syrian-Iraqi border in the southeast, close to Deir ez-Zor.' The SDC is the political wing of the Kurdish-led, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Tishreen Dam, located on the Euphrates River, has been a key target in a military campaign launched by Turkey and Turkish-backed Syrian militias since November. The aim has been to seize control of the strategic site, facilitating access to other SDF-held territories. At least 20 civilians have been killed in Turkish drone strikes on the area. The SDF and the new government in Damascus are in talks to hand over the control of the dam to forces affiliated with the Syrian government in a bid to end attacks by militants, which have ceased for weeks. Regarding the drawdown of US troops, Ishaq emphasized that the reduction is 'tactical' and 'gradual,' but will stop at a floor of 400 soldiers. He noted that decision-makers in Washington DC are constrained by a congressional provision prohibiting any reduction below that threshold. A provision in the Senate Armed Services Committee's version of the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) bars the Secretary of Defense from reducing US troop levels in northeast Syria below 400 unless the Pentagon certifies that local partner forces are independently capable of degrading and defeating the Islamic State (ISIS) threats and can detain ISIS members effectively and humanely. A statement from Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell on Friday said that they were consolidating 'to select locations in Syria,' but that US forces 'will remain poised to continue strikes against the remnants of ISIS in Syria.' 'The issue is not only related to the SDF and the new administration in Damascus,' Ishaq said. 'It extends to regional security in the area. At present, there will be no complete withdrawal of US military forces from Syria.' A senior US official, speaking to The New York Times on condition of anonymity, said on Tuesday that commanders will assess whether additional downsizing will be made on top of the announced ones, noting that the commanders have already recommended keeping 500 troops in Syria. 'The United States aims at downsizing its forces to below one thousand in the next two or three months,' a US defense official told Rudaw on Friday. The US increased its troop numbers in Syria from 900 to around 2,000 after a coalition of Islamist rebels led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) ousted Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8. The White House described the deployment as a temporary measure to prevent ISIS from regaining a foothold in the country. Despite the uptick, US President Donald Trump said in February, 'We're not involved in Syria. Syria's its own mess… They don't need us involved,' adding that a 'determination' on troop levels would be made later, without providing further details. US forces in Syria remain the main backers of the SDF, which territorially defeated ISIS in 2019, ending the group's so-called caliphate. SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi has repeatedly warned that a premature US withdrawal could enable an ISIS resurgence. Kurdish forces in northeast Syria fear that ISIS may be regrouping, exploiting instability following the decline of Assad's regime and the shifting dynamics in the country. On March 10, the SDF reached an agreement with new authorities in Damascus to integrate into the Syrian national armed forces. According to Ishaq, negotiations are ongoing over logistical matters related to how the institutions of the Kurdish-led Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (DAANES) will be integrated into those of the new Syrian state. 'The same applies to the military issue,' he added, referring to discussions about integrating the SDF into the Syrian Ministry of Defense.

UN affirms its continued commitment to working with Iraq and promoting comprehensive dialogue

Baghdad - INA The Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Ghulam Ishaq, affirmed that the United Nations expresses its continued commitment to working with Iraq and promoting comprehensive dialogue. Ishaq said in a press conference during the Day of Tolerance, attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I am honored to represent the United Nations on behalf of Muhammad Al-Hassan, and I hope that he will be with us if he wishes to attend. It is a great honor for me to be among this distinguished group of different spectra that embody the beautiful and diverse fabric of Iraq." He expressed "my sincere gratitude to Counselor Qasim Al-Araji for hosting this important event, which confirms our shared commitment to tolerance, coexistence and the homeland." He added, "Iraq is the cradle of civilizations, where religions, traditions and cultures have lived side by side for centuries. This diversity is not just a reflection of Iraq's past, but rather a fundamental pillar of a promising future. True strength does not lie in uniformity, but in the ability to embrace differences, foster dialogue, and build a society in which everyone is valued and respected." He continued, "Iraq has experienced great challenges in the past decades, and these challenges were a test of the bonds of unity among its people. Despite these challenges, the Iraqi people have proven time and again that they are able to transcend revenge and reject hatred, and choose the path of reconciliation. Today, more than ever, we must continue to work to build a society of respect, where diversity is seen as a fundamental value." He added, "Tolerance is not just a standard or an option in the face of conflict, but a conscious choice for pride, acceptance and coexistence, as coexistence requires all of us, leaders, institutions and societies, to dedicate an environment based on mutual respect, as this means ensuring the rights of everyone regardless of their religion or ethnicity."
