Anwar rebuffs claims of inaction by Madani govt
KOTA BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed surprise and disbelief that certain quarters continue to claim the Madani Government has done nothing since taking over the country's administration.
He emphasised that the Madani Government has undertaken numerous efforts to enhance governance and improve the welfare of the people.
"It's fine to disagree, and criticism of the government is allowed, but they must also acknowledge the progress we've made.
"During every Cabinet meeting, I urge each ministry to improve and expedite what is necessary.
"So don't deny the changes we've made by constantly claiming in every speech that the government has done nothing. Don't just be angry all the time.
"Indeed, what we are doing is still not enough, but we are always working to improve," he said.
Anwar made the remarks during the closing ceremony of the Madani Rakyat Programme here today.
Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Mohd Nassuruddin expressed hope that the Federal Government would consider approving several key projects in Kelantan to support the state's development and public safety.
Among the projects mentioned were the construction of the Sungai Lebir Dam in Kuala Krai as a flood mitigation structure, a regional sewage treatment plant in Tunjong and the formation of the Rantau Panjang Special Economic Zone.
He also highlighted the need for the East Coast Expressway Phase 3 (LPT3) and a Collection, Processing, and Packaging Centre (CPPC) in Lojing to establish Kelantan as a major national food production hub.
"The state government sincerely hopes the federal government will give due consideration to these projects and ensure the required allocations are disbursed soon.
"We believe that only through continuous and close cooperation, accompanied by mutual strengthening between federal and state levels, can we achieve a comprehensive, inclusive development agenda with high impact for the people.
"With a work culture rooted in Ubudiyyah (servitude), Mas'uliyyah (accountability), and Itqan (excellence), the state government will continue to provide full cooperation, especially in advancing the people's well-being and ensuring Kelantan stays on the right track toward achieving Kelantan Sejahtera 2033 under the Islamic Development Strategy," he said.
He further welcomed the federal government's focus on less-developed states, saying it would help address development imbalances.
"This is because the distribution and benefits of development aimed at making Malaysia a developed nation by 2030 must be implemented fairly and inclusively.
"I hope this intention will receive serious attention from the prime minister, alongside the announced initiatives, to ensure that Kelantan is not left behind in national development.
"It is time for Kelantan to stand on equal footing with other states, particularly in terms of infrastructure, investment, and public welfare," he added.
