Plans for 179-bed hotel, conference centre, restaurant and spa at Strive Club near Jersey Airport
Major plans for a new six-storey conference centre and spa near Jersey Airport have been submitted.
The suggested development next to the current Strive Health Club on L'Avenue de la Reine Elizabeth II in St Peter includes a four or five-star hotel with up to 179 rooms, alongside a restaurant, café, three bars, a swimming pool and spa facilities.
Up to 124 car parking spaces will be provided, with half under cover, and extra room for cycle parking - Strive's existing five-a-side football pitch will be removed.
Sets of solar panels are also proposed within the car park and on the health club's roof, with intentions to plant extra trees and hedges across the site.
The plans outline a third-floor balcony and terrace, a fifth-floor sky bar and a biodiverse sedum green roof.
It is expected to take 21 months to build, with construction earmarked to start in late 2026 if permission is granted.
Jersey's Island Bridging Plan states that developments of eight storeys or under can be supported outside of town if they meet various conditions, including being "appropriate to the townscape character of the area" and "not adversely affecting the locality in terms of microclimate, wind turbulence, overshadowing, noise, reflected glare, privacy and amenity of surrounding buildings".
The applicant SDJ Limited writes in the Environmental Impact Statement that, "At the heart of the proposal is a vision to create a sports, leisure and cultural destination.
"The site was selected due to its proximity to the Jersey Airport, enabling ease of access for leisure and business travel, including elite sports teams."
No date has been set yet for when the planning application will be discussed.
