It's Your Call for June 11
Make it fair Instead of the city raising our sewer bills and having our local people who live here and who are taxed enough, why not have an earnings tax for all the people who come to St. Joseph, use our streets, use our sewer, and then take their paycheck back to their home cities and spend their money? Let's have an earnings tax. Make it fair. Sewer rates going up I see where the city is going to raise sewer rates again. I guess they didn't see this coming 40 years ago. With the intelligence and the brightness that we have that run the city of St. Joe, we should have seen this way beforehand, but apparently there's nobody competent enough at City Hall to understand the logic. And as far as being mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency and all that, I'd like to see that in writing before I believe what the city tells me. Answer the question I seen on TV this morning that the school board is going to go ahead with the two high schools. Didn't we vote this down two times? What is the school board doing? Why did we vote it down and why are they just going ahead and doing it anyway? If someone can answer this one in It's Your Call, it'd be great because I don't understand if you've been voted down twice why you have the permission to go ahead anyway. If somebody from the school board could answer the question, it would be great. Prime property This is for all the Democrats that are calling in saying the riots in L.A. are Trump's fault and that they are peaceful protests. Please call me if you really believe that because I have some prime resort property at Lake Contrary to sell you. Shame on them I can't believe the audacity this president has, what he's done in California. That hadn't been done since '65, and it was legitimate then. This is uncalled for, and every representative and every senator all ought to be ashamed of themselves for not voting to stop for this guy.

Do what's right for the citizens I can't understand our city leaders. They have the money to carry up a nice-looking wall around Civic Center Park. They have the money to give a nonprofit organization $7 million for a pool, but they don't have the money to put in streetlights, sidewalks or fix our streets. Let's get our priorities in gear. Let's do what's right for the citizen first. DMV is part of the problem I'm calling in regards to the article in It's Your Call about the expired temporary tags, wanting to know when the mayor and the police were going to do something about it. I'm not saying there doesn't need to be something done, but I also think our Department of Motor Vehicles is part of the problem. They used to be open on Saturdays, at least half a day, a couple of Saturdays a month. They're no longer open on Saturdays anymore. There's a lot of people working that can't get off from work to go get it. I think until that problem is resolved and the DMV starts giving some customer service, you're going to have this problem. I called the governor's office. They told me they only have to be open 40 hours a week. That's 34 service hours for the working people. Major lawsuit AKA the boat dock I was just wondering if one of our lovely city officials might walk on over here to the riverfront and check out the major lawsuit called the boat dock. It has a near vertical climb up and down to the dock to the top of the bank. And it's extremely slippery, even when it's dry. God forbid you put some grippers on there. Seems fishy A $400 million airliner 'gift, and the Trump family has a lot of Mid-East deals going. Sounds fishy to me.

It's Your Call for May 8
We have one Somebody wrote in It's Your Call called a 'spineless Congress.' We have one of them right here in Missouri. He's called Sam Graves. Nobody left Just think. If Trump was in office during the Vietnam War protests, there wouldn't have been anybody left in the United States. It's a distraction Donald Trump says he's going to reopen Alcatraz, but he won't. He comes up with these ridiculous statements to divert our attention while he breaks Constitutional law, grabs people off the street like the KGB, and threatens and arrests judges who ruled against his attempts to subvert the law. What we really want I just read that the city council is going to come out with the survey to see what the city wants. I can tell you what the city wants. The city wants them to stop lying. We want better leadership here. Stop treating us like we're just rags, man, just cause we ain't got money in our pocket. Stop worrying about the east side of town and what they want and start worrying about the west side of town. We need the sewers fixed. Take care of the homeless, man, and do something with them. When they break into your house, arrest them. Fairness and honesty and integrity and truthfulness is what we want.

It's Your Call for May 2
Why us? Someone discussed what was noted in It's Your Call about the city not taking care of the alleys or the drainage tubes at the end of the alley. You call in, they say they're going to call you back. There were four times last year I called, never received a call back. And then when I do call it in, they said, well, that'll be at your expense. Why are we having to pay to keep the alleys in good shape and the tubes have been mashed down from trash trucks? Why are we having to pay out of our pocket? Isn't that under the city to take care of the streets and alleys? We pay for that. You people are so funny I don't expect you to print this because you're so pro-Democratic, but the rest of you people in this town are so funny. You expect things to happen overnight. You've got your hand out constantly. You won't give this president 100 days to get his initiative passed and started, but yet you tolerated the last president who did nothing for four years, and the only thing he did was degrade this country. Explain this to me I don't quite understand how President Trump can blame President Biden for the stock market falling here in April of 2025, when President Trump was the one that's been in office for the last few months. Can somebody explain this to me?
