It List: Penn Badgley bids 'You' farewell, 'The Accountant 2' adds up, 'Andor' goes for one last ride

Hello, friends! I'm Kelsey, your guide to all things pop culture for Yahoo Entertainment, and this is the It List, our weekly rundown of what's new and notable. In it, I recommend a slew of upcoming releases to watch, stream, listen to, read and binge. I'll walk you through my favorites. When: is in theaters April 25. What to know: Nearly a decade after the original movie, this sequel follows socially awkward genius Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) as he teams up with his brother (Jon Bernthal) to investigate a murder. [People] Why I recommend it: It's a clever thriller and an even more delightful buddy comedy that made me giggle through my whole SXSW screening. Affleck leans into his greatest asset: bromance. [Yahoo Entertainment] When: is in theaters April 25. What to know: The latest stop on Jacob Elordi's quest to subvert your expectations is a queer love story about two misfits with a penchant for gambling. [Yahoo Entertainment/IndieWire] Why I recommend it: I saw the movie at TIFF, where director Daniel Minahan told me he cast both Daisy Edgar-Jones and Elordi because of their unknowable-yet-emotional qualities. I always love watching movies about beautiful people with dark secrets! [Yahoo Entertainment] When: by Emily Henry is out now. What to know: One of the books I'm most excited about is the latest book from reigning romance queen Emily Henry. It's about two very different authors who compete to write a former tabloid darling's memoir. [Yahoo Entertainment/People] Why I'll be reading: No one's doing it like Henry — I've read all her romance books, and she gives all her characters such fascinating depth beyond the love story. I can't wait till the inevitable rush to adapt them all for the screen. [USA Today] When: All 10 episodes of Season 5 are now streaming on Netflix. What to know: Oddly lovable killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back in New York for the thriller's final season after revealing his identity to the world. He's got a new love interest too, of course. [TVLine/Teen Vogue] Why I'll be bingeing: Had I completely forgotten everything that happened in the last season of this show? Yes. Did I regain the will to catch up and speed through its final batch of episodes after reading a single charming interview with Badgley? Also yes. [USA Today] When: The first three episodes of Season 2 are now streaming on Disney+. What to know: The Star Wars series follows the rebellion from the perspective of Rogue One's sacrificial hero, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). This is also technically the show's final season, because it's working up to where that movie begins. [Glamour/The Wrap] Why I'll be bingeing: Disney's intellectual property machine can be kind of hit or miss — revisiting old stories and sometimes leaving fans disgruntled. What's refreshing about Andor is that pretty much everyone agrees it's really, really good. [Rolling Stone] Want more It List? Click here. Are there other things you're excited about? It List: 'Sinners' will make you see double, 'Ransom Canyon' heads for the hills, 'The Rehearsal' takes flight

When: is in theaters April 18. What to know: Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers in the new horror thriller that unfolds over the course of one day in 1932. It involves blues music, vampires and Hailee Steinfeld. [IndieWire/People] Why I'll be watching: I booked my tickets to see it on the biggest possible screen after watching a viral video in which director Ryan Coogler broke down aspect ratios and formats for 10 minutes. That sounds niche — and it is — but it's also awesome. The clip has over 13 million views on X. [The Wrap] When: Season 2 premieres April 20 at 10:30 p.m. ET on Max. What to know: Comedian Nathan Fielder's show, in which he stages extravagant rehearsals for unconventional events, is back for a second season. This time, he's facilitating a role-playing exercise to simulate a plane crash. What could go wrong? [Variety] Why I'll be watching: Does Fielder make me cringe every time I see him on screen? Yes. Am I worried his shows are a little mean-spirited? Also yes. But he's responsible for putting the flawless series Nathan for You into the world, so I've got to hear him out. [The Wrap/BuzzFeed] When: by Jeneva Rose is out now. What to know: Jeneva Rose's internet-breaking thriller The Perfect Marriage has a sequel, but you don't even need the first book in the series to enjoy finding out how the whipsmart lawyer maneuvers herself out of a legal and marital pickle. [USA Today] Why I recommend it: Rose is constantly going viral on TikTok. She told me the secret to getting people to fall in love with her stories is only posting when she's in the mood. It helps that she loves to trick people — and she's got a real knack for it. [Yahoo Entertainment] When: All 10 episodes of are now streaming on Netflix. What to know: The new series stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly and combines the modern-day cowboys of Yellowstone with the small-town romantic drama of Virgin River. [Deadline] Why I'll be bingeing: Jack Schumacher, who plays a mysterious drifter, told me he had to go to 'cowboy camp' to handle all the horse-related action this show has to offer. Yeehaw! [Yahoo Entertainment] When: The first two episodes of premiere April 17 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. What to know: If you like your Law & Order procedurals with a bit more of a narrative through episodes, Organized Crime is for you. Detective Elliot Stabler investigates cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism and a crime family intent on revenge this season. [Rolling Stone] Why I'll be bingeing: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's Olivia Benson visits Stabler in the hospital in the premiere, according to a new teaser. Their will-they-or-won't-they storyline spans literal decades. Will they finally kiss now? Probably not. I'll watch it anyway, just in case. [People] We'll be back next week with our latest picks. It List: 'The Last of Us' comes back to life, Meghan Markle gets people talking, 'Black Mirror' tries something new

When: Season 2 premieres April 13 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Max. What to know: HBO's award-winning series based on a beloved video game follows two road-tripping apocalypse survivors (Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey). According to showrunner Craig Mazin, the new season has a bigger cast and a broader scope. [The Hollywood Reporter] Why I'll be watching: It's already been renewed for Season 3, so hype is mounting — plus, I'm in need of some new appointment TV shows to fill the void of The White Lotus and Severance. [Entertainment Weekly/Yahoo Entertainment] When: is in theaters April 11. What to know: Meghann Fahy stars in the thriller as a single mom terrorized by mysterious 'drop' messages during a first date. Director Christopher Landon told me he cast her after being entranced by her performance in The White Lotus. [People] Why I recommend it: I saw it at SXSW, and the whole audience was captivated by the humor and thrills of the surprisingly deep story for its breezy 100-minute runtime. [Yahoo Entertainment] When: is now streaming on Prime Video. What to know: Viola Davis shifts into action hero mode as the president of the United States who must defend her family when terrorists take over the G20 summit in South Africa. [Yahoo Entertainment/Mashable] Why I'll be watching: 'I don't think every movie you do has to be considered for an Academy Award. I wanted to do something that families could watch together, something popular,' Davis said in a March interview. Say no more; I love seeing her have fun. [Variety] When: The first episode of Confessions of a Female Founder is out now. What to know: Whether you call her Meghan Markle, Meghan Sussex or just Meghan, she's always got a project she's working on. In this eight-episode podcast, she gets personal while chatting with women about the real-life challenges of entrepreneurship. [Yahoo Entertainment] Why I'll be listening: I need something to do while I try one of her sold-out jams. [Yahoo Entertainment] When: All six episodes of Season 7 are now streaming on Netflix. What to know: The terrifyingly dystopian horror series is back with a new season packed with fresh reasons to fear technology, from AI clones to mysterious video games. [Yahoo Entertainment UK] Why I'll be bingeing: For the first time ever, the show is referencing itself. 'USS Callister,' that Star Trek-esque episode, is getting a sequel. Will Poulter also reprises his character from the interactive 'Bandersnatch' special in a new story. [TVLine] We'll be back next week with our latest picks. Want more It List? Click here. It List: 'A Minecraft Movie' takes the game to the big screen, Michelle Williams is 'Dying for Sex,' Elton John and Brandi Carlile join musical forces

When: is in theaters April 4. What to know: If there aren't computer-savvy young people in your life, it might be difficult for me to explain the profound chokehold Minecraft has on youth culture. The movie adaptation follows four humans (Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Hansen) who get sucked into the video game. [Mashable] Why I'll be watching: It's already reviving the box office as we speak, so I'm going to check it out to see what's got folks so passionate. Also, Jack Black is in it, and I love him. [Deadline/CinemaBlend] When:is in theaters April 4. What to know: The horror comedy, co-written and co-directed by its star Finn Wolfhard, follows a handful of counselors racing to catch a killer over the course of one night at summer camp. [The Hollywood Reporter] Why I recommend it: It's a familiar and self-aware premise with a loving touch from Wolfhard, whose many years starring in horror franchises like Stranger Things and It show that he loves the genre enough to twist it. He told me that he picked up advice from Jesse Eisenberg on how to pivot from acting to directing. [Yahoo Entertainment] When: is out April 4. What to know: Elton John might be a legend, but he's always down to collaborate. His album with country icon Brandi Carlile emerged from their sweet but ambitious partnership, and we'll get to see that process in a documentary someday. [Rolling Stone/Billboard] Why I'll be listening: I don't like imagining a world without John in it, but if he's brave enough to reckon with his mortality through music, I'll be brave enough to listen. [People] ▶️ fights demons When: All eight episodes of are now streaming on Prime Video. What to know: Kevin Bacon plays a murdered bounty hunter who returns from the dead to hunt demons in a darkly funny new series. [The Hollywood Reporter] Why I'll be watching: Bacon told my colleague Laura Clark that doing his own stunts made him feel like he's 'got the coolest gig in the world,' and I'll watch anything where it's obvious the actors are having a blast. [Yahoo Entertainment] ▶️ pushes boundaries When: All eight episodes of start streaming on Hulu April 4. What to know: Michelle Williams stars in the limited series, which is based on the true story of a woman who decided to leave her husband and pursue her deepest desires after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis. [TVLine] Why I'll be watching: The show tackles salacious subject matter and is expected to generate awards buzz, but I'm most excited to see the always charming Jenny Slate's dramatic turn as our main character's best friend. [The Hollywood Reporter] We'll be back next week with our latest picks. Want more It List? Click here. Are there other things you're excited about? Let us know in the comments below.
