WrestleMania 41 results: The New Day bolts after winning World Tag Team titles
The New Day are one of the most accomplished tag teams of all time. (Photo by Michael Marques/WWE via Getty Images) (WWE via Getty Images) The New Day are 13-time tag-team champions. WrestleMania 41, Night 1 got off to a big start with two title changes, as Jey Uso forced now-former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to tap to a rear-naked choke, and The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) followed that up by dropping their World Tag Team titles to The New Day's heel duo Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Advertisement Kingston and Woods immediately gained momentum after some vintage heavy offense from Ivar. The New Day targeted Erik with their assault at the match's start, drawing several comments from WWE commentators about Erik's past neck injuries — which also alluded to Kingston and Woods' history with longtime former stablemate, Big E. Woods embraced the heel role by paying homage to the likes of Ric Flair before some Hardy Boyz-esque double team moves. Ivar became the main man for his team after the hot tag and got into control, setting up a potential War Machine finisher. Kingston then countered it from the outside, grabbing Ivar's feet on the ropes to save Woods, before the duo set up an elevated stomp finish for the win. Advertisement Kingston held Ivar's free foot, but it was more anticlimactic than dirty. The New Day grabbed their titles then sprinted back up the ramp with no Big E in sight. Check out highlights of The New Day's championship-winning match below. Catch full WrestleMania 41, Night 1 results, highlights and match-by-match coverage here.

War Raiders vs. The New Day: WrestleMania 41 World Tag Team Championship preview
War Raiders vs. The New Day: WrestleMania 41 World Tag Team Championship preview Show Caption Hide Caption WWE's Paul Heyman says CM Punk's WrestleMania's match was 20 years in the making WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman, shares the little known backstory of how CM Punk's WrestleMania 41 main event was decades in the making. A battle between two storied WWE tag teams will take place this Saturday as the War Raiders, Erik and Ivar, look to retain their championship belt against the New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods at Wrestlemania 41 in Las Vegas. Where normally this matchup would be expected to be a battle between a lovable babyface pair in the New Day vs. a fearsome heel in War Raiders, things took an unexpected turn when both Kingston and Woods turned on New Day member Big E. However, since that big moment, New Day has not exactly taken over the spotlight like fans had hoped. Sure, they've got themselves a title match at WrestleMania, but it feels more forced that usual, which isn't a good sign for a team that has been so beloved for so many years. Here's everything to know about World Tag Team Championship match on Night 1 of Wrestlemania 41: WrestleMania 41: War Raiders vs. New Day implications The match between The War Raiders and The New Day will be for the World Tag Team Championship. The War Raiders have been champions since December 16, 2024. The New Day has held at least one tag team championship 12 times throughout their WWE careers. Their last tag team title reign came in 2020. War Raiders WrestleMania record The War Raiders are 1-1 all-time at WrestleMania and have not competed at the event since WrestleMania 37. Their first appearance came at WrestleMania 34 when Erik and Ivar defeated The Revival. They lost at WrestleMania 37. New Day WrestleMania record While the New Day have never won at WrestleMania, going 0-2 in their career as a tag team, Kofi Kingston has has two wins at WrestleMania, going 2-9 all-time at the event. WrestleMania 41: War Raiders vs. New Day prediction While New Day has the title and WrestleMania experience to handle a team like the War Raiders, giving them a belt wouldn't do much to propel their storyline that may eventually see the New Day break up entirely. It only makes sense to give them more reason for their heel turn, meaning this is likely a win for Erik and Ivar. Prediction: War Raiders retain their belt. Who is Lord Ivar Mountbatten? King Charles' cousin starring in the Traitors US
'If there's anyone who can keep a secret, it's a royal.' That is the assumption Lord Ivar Mountbatten was met with after he arrived at a grand Scottish castle to play a game of lies and deception with a star-studded line up. The King's second cousin, 61, has joined the cast of The Traitors US, in which a group of chaotically comprised celebrities gathered to play the game which has taken UK viewers by storm. A direct descendent of Queen Victoria, fans can watch the British aristocrat try to beat the likes of real housewives, Selling Sunset stars and Zac Efron's brother to win his share of the $250,000 (£200,000) prize pot. His royal connections piqued an interest from his fellow players early on in the game after he shared his family history and his experience of being the first openly gay royal. Born in 1963 to David Mountbatten, 3rd Marquess of Milford and Janet Mercedes Bryce, he is the great-great-great grandson of Queen Victoria and a second cousin to King Charles III. His surname was shared by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's children, Archie,5, and Lilibet, 3, before Harry and Meghan made the decision to change their last names to Sussex. Like his cousin, Lord Ivar attended Gordonstoun School in Moray, Scotland, which was infamously portrayed as 'absolute hell' in the Netflix series The Crown. After losing his father at aged 7, the aristocrat went on to study at Middlebury College in Vermont and went on to work as a geologist. In 1991, he wed Penelope Anne Vere Thompson, whom he went on to share three daughters with. Their two eldest children are the godchildren of Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, with Edward and his sister Princess Margaret have been attendees at the couple's wedding. In 2010, the couple split with the amicable divorce being finalised in 2011 after 17 years of marriage and in 2016 the lord became the first member of the British royal family to come out as openly gay after his relationship with James Coyle, an airline cabin services director was revealed. The pair later wed on September 18 2022, making him the first royal to be in a same-sex marriage, in a small ceremony attended by his ex-wife and three daughters on the grounds of their family seat in Devon, Bridwell estate. In April last year, he sold the Grade I listed house on the market for £5.5m, after moving in in 1997. Lord Ivar's participation in The Traitors US is not his first endeavour on the small screen. In 2019 he appeared on Channel 4's Bear Grylls' Treasure Island and also appeared on Keeping up with the Aristocrats in 2022. During his stint on Bear Grylls' Treasure Island he said Prince Phillip had become 'like my father' after he lost his own at an early age.

WWE star JD McDonagh shares health update after scary televised injury
WWE star JD McDonagh has announced that he will be out 'for a couple months' after suffering several serious injuries during Monday (January 27) night's episode of Raw. The Irish wrestler, 34, was performing in the World Tag Team Championship alongside his Judgement Day partner Dominik Mysterio against the defending champions, the War Raiders. McDonagh attempted to take out Ivar, who was standing outside the ring, with a daring springboard moonsault. As McDonagh landed, he bounced back and smacked his neck on the announcing table before briefly falling limp. He managed to get up and finish the fight, which he and Mysterio ended up losing. Backstage after the match, he reportedly collapsed and was taken to the hospital. McDonagh has since issued a health update on X/Twitter, thanking fans for 'the messages and concern,' adding: 'I'm good. I've got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I'm going to be out for a couple months. 'All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I'm grateful for that. See ya in a bit.' Ivar later shared a few photos from the event, tagging McDonagh and writing: 'Respect.' With his injuries, McDonagh will no longer be able to compete in Saturday's Royal Rumble premium live event. And it's not yet clear if he'll be able to compete in WrestleMania 41, taking place in Las Vegas this April 19 and 20. ..... @jd_mcdonagh ...... RESPECT 🙏 — Ivar (@Ivar_WWE) January 28, 2025 McDonagh, real name Jordan Devlin, signed with WWE in 2016. His first competition with the Raw brand was the inaugural United Kingdom Championship Tournament, where he was crowned the WWE United Kingdom Champion. Later that year, he made his NXT UK debut, going on to defeat Northern Irish wrestler Tucker. It was in 2023 that McDonagh advanced to WWE's main roster and joined The Judgement Day stable with fellow Irish wrestler Finn Bálor. Together, the two held the World Tag Team Championships title for 175 days before they eventually lost to the War Raiders in December.
