Brickfield and Mold Alex have to be satisfied with a point
It was the battle of last season two Ardal League champions as Gareth Wilson's side headed to the coast to tackle Rhyl 1879. It finished 0-0 and Rhyl boss Paul Moore told the club's X site: 'Unusual for us to have a nil-nil. I think there's only two games that we've played in that we've not scored. 'It says a lot about us, really, in that game, because I just felt that they sat in and their purpose was to try and grind something out, and hopefully get an opportunity and sit back in. 'All credit to them. I said that to the guys before, you know. It just works for them more than it did for us and we were too slow in our build-up and when we got the opportunity to get in the final third, we weren't sharp enough to set it and offload it.' It was also honours even as Mold Alex opened their league campaign with a 2-2 outcome at home to Penrhyncoch. There was an all-action start, with two goals arriving in the opening 10 minutes. Cynan Edwards set up Morgan Roberts for Mold's opener in the fourth minute, but this was cancelled out three minutes later by Daniel Owen. Edwards regained the lead for the hosts seven minutes into the second half, only for Penrhyncoch to salvage a point via Owain James' late response. Mold boss Barry Owen told the club's X site: 'Literally, it's one of them. Performance-wise, I think really positive. 'I thought we kept the ball, we moved the ball. There's a few players making their debut today I was really impressed with. 'They've got two chances and scored two. After that, they asked questions late on. 'So, overall disappointing to have dropped points, but the performance wasn't too bad.' Gresford Athletic started their league campaign with a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Guilsfield. Ahead of kick-off, a minute's silence was observed in memory of Wrexham legend Joey Jones, who passed away last week. A minute after Iwan Roberts put a fifth minute effort wide for Athletic, the visitors had the lead through Dan Tilsley's looped attempt. Sam Flory then got on the end of a corner to slam home Guilsfield's second in the 27th minute. Roberts had an effort saved as Gresford sought a route back into the encounter, but they did manage to halve their deficit in the 41st minute. Iwan Roberts forced the ball into the box and Jake Roberts was there to tap in his second goal in two competitive games for the club. However, right on the strong of half-time, Iwan Matthews grabbed the visitors' third goal of the afternoon. Athletic forged opportunities in the second half and they were awarded a penalty with 13 minutes left to play following handball. Haci Ozlu's shot from the spot hit both posts and the ball didn't go in. James Smith and Jake Roberts went close as Gresford continued to press, while Flory struck the woodwork at the other end.

Snoop Dogg investment 'can only be a good thing'
Iwan Roberts believes Snoop Dogg's investment into Swansea City "can only be a good thing" for the Championship after the rapper helped to unveil the club's 2025-26 home shirt, the Swans announced the 53-year-old had become a co-owner and former Wales striker Roberts says the multi-platinum selling artist can help to raise the profile of the Swans as they bid to generate more income."The difference between him and some of the other famous people who have invested into football, I think he's a big fan of the game," Roberts told BBC Radio Cymru Dros Brecwast."From what I understand, he has a relationship with Swansea's owners."He has been looking at investing in a club, he likes the Swansea story and how they rose up the divisions. OK they're in the Championship these days."A few months ago Luka Modric invested, but you look at the followers these famous people have, they have millions of followers on social media sites. He's got more than 88m on Instagram and more than 20m on X."That's going to persuade the people who follow him to maybe support Swansea and bring some new followers through the gates at the Stadium. Maybe he'll do a concert there!"He added: "LeBron James, he's invested in Liverpool. Tom Brady, he's part of the consortium that bought Birmingham and they secured promotion alongside Wrexham."You look at the sponsorship deals people like this can bring into the club, you gave a great example with how things have gone at Wrexham and all of the money they're bringing in after the work Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have done."It can only be a good thing for Swansea in my opinion."It comes during what has already been a busy summer for Swansea - who are preparing for a first full season under the leadership of head coach Alan have already made five first-team signings this summer, and Roberts feels the Swansea faithful will be happy with the club's business so far."They've brought a few in," added Roberts."They've lost a few, Harry Darling has joined Norwich and Joe Allen has retired of course."But I'm sure the work the club have done in recent weeks, the fans will be reasonably happy with where they are at the moment and I'm sure there'll be more to come."

Set-piece defending has been City's 'Achilles heel'
Former Norwich City striker Iwan Roberts believes failure to resolve defensive frailties is a big reason for Johannes Hoff Thorup's downfall as head coach."I watched the first half of the Norwich-Portsmouth game (on Friday) and made a tongue-in-cheek comment to my son after the game, I said 'that's a sackable offence', conceding five goals against a team that had scored seven in their previous 12 games," he told BBC Radio Norfolk's Canary Call."I wasn't serious in what I said but I was worried about him after that horrendous defeat. "Then going down to Millwall yesterday and losing that one in the manner that they did, set-pieces have been an Achilles heel all season, and they conceded another two yesterday."What is it now? One point from their last five, four points from their last eight games, two wins in the last 14. I am surprised the decision has been made with two games to go but any manager with those kind of numbers going against him will be looking over his shoulder."Wales international Roberts, who played almost 280 league games for Norwich between 1997 and 2004, said he understood why the club had made a change of head coach when they parted company with David Wagner following last season's play-offs defeat by Leeds."They wanted to go in a certain direction and I can understand that, they wanted to give younger players an opportunity," he added. "The job of a head coach and his staff is to improve these youngsters and there's not many that have improved that much over the last six or seven months."

Wycombe win 'brilliant' as promotion race hots up

You could see that the two teams, not under pressure, but there were nerves out on the pitch because it was such a big game for both sides," Roberts told BBC Radio Cymru Dros Frecwast."But what a goal to win it from Sam Smith."Of course there was a long delay due to a medical emergency with a Wrexham fan, and we had a delay of almost an hour before the players came back out after hearing the fan was in a stable condition."Wycombe had a chance right after the restart that was cleared off the line by George Dobson and then within seconds Sam Smith scores."But it's so close (in the table). Wycombe play tomorrow night, they're at Rotherham so they've got a chance to go second again."Charlton are only five points behind Wrexham and Stockport only six points behind, but it was a brilliant result after they had lost 2-0 at Reading."Wrexham return to action against fifth-placed Stockport County at the Stok Racecourse on Saturday (15:00 GMT).
