'I'm not a side chick' — Tirelo Kale on why she is not married to Mpumelelo Mseleku
Tirelo Kale has shed light on why she has not tied the knot with Musa Mseleku's son Mpumelelo. The reality TV star, who is Mpumelelo's first girlfriend and has a son with him, was recently questioned by social media users after Mpumelelo paid lobola for his second partner. During a recent Instagram live , Tirelo revealed her parents did not approve of her getting married while she was still in school and had nothing to show for herself. 'There was a letter sent to my family but they refused; the letter is still there. I pleaded with my family, I even rolled on the floor,' she said. 'My family said because I'm not done with school and I'm not working, if I get married? What are you leaving with? That's why they declined the proposal and my mother said she would observe us. I was hurt when my family refused.' While social media trolls have resorted to calling her Mpumelelo's side chick, Tirelo said she is comfortable with her position in his life. 'I'm not a side chick. There's no VIP in relationships.' On Mzansi Magic's Izingane Zes'thembu, Mpumelelo showcases how he navigates polygamy. Previously speaking to TshisaLIVE, Mpumelelo said he was following in his father's footsteps, adding he understood polygamy was not about money, but he was making sure he could afford more than one wife. 'I got an opportunity to showcase what I do. How to structure polygamy and make people understand you don't start polygamy when you are old. You have to start it now and grow with it to understand the dynamics. It's not forced. It's something I was raised in. People are failing to understand that.' Mpumelelo said having witnessed his father, who has four wives, run different relationships smoothly, he knew how to do the same for his growing family. 'What I learnt from my father is to be truthful, humble and respectful and know how to apologise. 'In Zulu we have a saying that a person does what they witnessed from their father when growing up. It's like someone who grows up in a family where they have a taxi business, a person who grows up in such a home would never turn down that business.'

Tirelo Kale spills the tea on her parents' refusal of Mpumelelo Mseleku's proposal
Izingane Zes'thembu's Tirelo Kale shares her emotional journey following the rejection of Mpumelelo Mseleku's lobola proposal by her parents. Image: Instagram Mpumelelo Mseleku, the son of renowned businessman and polygamist Musa Mseleku, shocked many viewers when he paid lobola for his second girlfriend, 21-year-old Amahle Casela, before his first girlfriend, Tirelo Kale. On the latest episode of 'Izingane Zes'thembu', which aired on Sunday, July 13, Mseleku visited the Casela family with his uncles to pay lobola (bride price), leaving Kale in the dark. Following in his polygamist father's footsteps, Mseleku has also started his journey by paying lobola for his second girlfriend. This automatically makes her the first wife, despite Kale being in the picture first. Kale was left feeling upset upon discovering that the second girlfriend would be getting married before her. During the episode, Mseleku revealed that the reason Casela will become the first wife is that Kale's parents did not allow the lobola negotiations to start. Video Player is loading. Next Stay Close ✕ Kale recently addressed her fans on Instagram Live, discussing her parents' rejection of Mseleku's lobola proposal. The 25-year-old's parents cited concerns about her incomplete qualification, unemployment, and the relationship issues she and Mseleku have as reasons for their decision. In an interview with 'Independent Media Lifestyle', leading up to the airing of the reality TV show, Kale opened up about the cracks forming in her relationship with Mseleku. The young mother candidly discussed her turbulent relationship with Mseleku, revealing that she was unaware of the cracks forming. 'I honestly didn't see the cracks forming in our relationship,' she said. 'It really seemed solid until it wasn't. The betrayal … wow, I genuinely didn't expect it,' she said. Since the reality show aired, Mseleku and Kale's relationship has been more rocky than rosy, marked by constant disagreements. Mseleku's growing focus on his new relationship with Casela has seemingly taken centre stage, leaving Kale feeling neglected and abandoned, further straining their already tumultuous partnership.

'I wanted to have MaKale [Tirelo] as the first wife. But my problem is that the Kale family doesn't want to start the negotiation process. I can't let this burden me. 'It should be something that they work out as a family in their own time. I want to build my home. I can't wait for them,' he said. Meanwhile, on the show, Tirelo said she was no longer ready to become Mpumelelo's wife. 'I was ready, but not anymore… Seeing that he didn't tell me he was going to ask for Amahle's hand in marriage, he must not pay lobola for me. I have already sent my family a message,' she said. Tirelo also hinted at trouble in paradise during an interview with The Citizen a few weeks ago. 'I don't know. There's a lot of ngena phuma [coming and going]. Maybe I'll just go,' she said, speaking about her future with Mpumelelo. READ MORE: Q&A with Tirelo and Mpumelelo Mseleku: Parenthood, engagement rumours and 'Izingane Zes'thembu' S3

Abongwe Mseleku to cook with 'Shaka iLembe' and Knorrox
Abongwe hopes to merge her passion for cooking with her film skills one day. Izingane Zes'thembu star Abongwe Mseleku has gone from learning to cook on TikTok to collaborating with some of South Africa's biggest brands. Abongwe was one of the guests for Knorrox at the launch of Shaka iLembe Season 2, which premiered on Sunday, 15 June, with Knorrox as the associate sponsor. As part of the collaboration, Abongwe and fellow TikTok influencers MaMbomvu and Mprudie will take part in a weekly live series every Sunday. The trio will share their personal cooking journeys and prepare traditional South African dishes with a fresh, youthful twist, while also sharing their individual food stories. Speaking to The Citizen, Abongwe said she started learning to cook during her first year at university. 'I had to start preparing my own meals. I spent the whole year eating wraps and some weird combos I've never seen — not because there wasn't food, but because I didn't know what to do with the food.' She then started her 'teaching myself how to cook' video series, which has since become popular online and led to collaboration deals with brands like Knorrox. 'I wasn't expecting to be recognised by such a big brand because I was just doing it to teach myself how to cook. 'But as the saying goes, you reap what you sow — so if you sow good, you reap good, which I am very grateful for.' She said the brand has been part of her life since childhood, which makes the partnership feel particularly special. 'Knorrox was in every meal prepared at home. It gives me a feeling of home. My mum used those cubes almost every time she made curry,' she added.
