Five biggest weekend developments for Notre Dame football recruiting
It was a good weekend for Notre Dame football recruiting even though it did not gain a new commitment. More than a few prospects were on campus, and others that have decided to start winding down the decision-making process. The Irish continue to make positive waves on the recruiting trail, and while they don't have much to show for recently, they will very soon. Advertisement The five biggest developments involving Notre Dame football from this weekend: (Note: All rankings are from the 247Sports composite.) Cornerback J'Vari Flowers sets commitment date In an interesting move, the 5-foot, 11-inch, 165-pound prospect reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class in January. However, Flowers has not signed a letter of intent. Due to the nature of his late move, the nation's No. 82 overall prospect was given a bit more time than normal, and he is now looking to make a commitment. He took an official visit to Notre Dame earlier this month, so the Irish are squarely in the mix. Defensive lineman Tiki Hola sets his commitment date In a much more traditional recruitment, Hola is looking to end the process in about six weeks. He has official visits set for each of his three finalists, and Notre Dame gets the last shot to impress him in mid-June. The Irish would love to add the 6-foot, 2-inch and 285-pounder to their roster. He's an impressive prospect who ranks No. 312 overall. Wide receiver Kaydon Finley It very much looks like the Irish hit a home run with the talented Texan. At 6 feet, 200 pounds, Finley could line up at multiple receiver positions, making him a terror for opposing defenses. Ranked No. 101 overall nationally, it will not be easy for Notre Dame to land him, but it put its best foot forward this weekend. Wide receiver Mason James It's safe to say Notre Dame has made the wide receiver position a big focus in the 2026 recruiting class. The 5-foot, 11-inch 170-pounder is one of the main targets. James was on campus this weekend, and, by all accounts, the visit went well. The Irish are one of the main contenders for his commitment, but don't have an official visit set. Hopefully one is planned in the near future for the nation's No. 224 overall prospect. Running back Brian Bonner Jr. A big-time California recruit, Bonner was on campus this weekend, and it also looks like the visit went quite well. The country's No. 99 overall prospect holds the Irish in high regard. While an official visit has not been scheduled, don't be surprised if one is announced in the near future. At 6 feet, 1 inch and 185 pounds, if Bonner was to land with Notre Dame, he could be the next true freshman running back to make waves. Florida adds reclassified 4-star CB to complete 2025 recruiting haul
Florida adds reclassified 4-star CB to complete 2025 recruiting haul Florida added to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday with the commitment of four-star Miami Northwestern cornerback J'Vari Flowers. Flowers reclassified from the 2026 class in January and took official visits to Auburn, Florida, Miami, North Carolina and Notre Dame. Although Miami had a hometown advantage and received the final official visit from Flowers, Notre Dame was the main competitor with Florida has things wound down in his recruitment. "(Florida) picked it up towards the end," Flowers said. "They got a young team. Their future is going to be real bright, and I like what they got going. They just got Coach D-Will, and we been talking since he was at Arkansas. He's a pretty great coach." Being familiar with assistant coach Deron Wilson and seeing an opportunity to play relatively early at Florida were two of the bigger factors in his decision. Flowers says he'll remain humble, but Florida's secondary was beat up last year and is still dealing with injuries in spring camp. Flower is a top-100 recruit who should instantly impact Florida's secondary and boost Florida's 247Sports team composite ranking to seventh overall in the class of 2025. The Gators now have the fourth-highest ranked recruiting class behind Texas, Georgia and Alabama at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Recruiting Summary Service Star Rating Natl. Rank Pos. "Has measured under 5-foot-11, but makes up for the lack of length with his foot speed and a thicker core. Does a favorable job of anticipating routes and fighting for positioning as he battles with his hands and mirrors with his hips. Active eyes constantly put him in position to make plays as he finds ways to get to the catch point. Solid as an open-field tackler at the stage as he will get ball carries on the ground. Not afraid to lower the shoulder pad and pop someone, either." FSU to host 4-star CB from Miami on official visit
FSU to host 4-star CB from Miami on official visit J'Vari Flowers was one of the top cornerbacks in the 2026 recruiting cycle but that is no longer the case. The Miami, Florida product reclassified on Wednesday and joined the 2025 recruiting cycle. The four-star prospect is now looking for a home and he has been in contact with FSU. He discussed his recruitment with On3's Keith Niebuhr and said that the Seminoles, Florida Gators, and Georgia Bulldogs will "definitely" get official visits. The Miami Hurricanes are also expected to be a major contender for him. Flowers was the No. 66 overall player and No. 7 cornerback in the On3 industry raking for the 2026 cycle and his ranking has not yet been updated to reflect his reclassification. The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder was also the No. 10 player from Florida. The Seminoles were seemingly done at cornerback in the 2025 cycle, having landed three-star prospects Shamar Arnoux and Antonio Cromartie Jr. but Flowers' decision has changed that. They have a battle ahead of them, but getting him on campus for the visit will give them a show in what could be a quick recruitment. Flowers had an extremely successful junior season for Miami Northwestern, helping them go 12-2 and win a state championship. He contributed in all three phases, finishing with two interceptions and 12 total touchdowns, and was named a Junior All-American by MaxPreps.
