The One Show undergoes last-minute line-up change as star is forced to pull out due to illness
The One Show underwent a last-minute line-up change as one of its main stars was forced to pull out due to illness. Alex Jones and JB Gill confirmed the news while hosting Wednesday's instalment of the BBC chat show. Opening the show, Alex, 48, confirmed that Watchdog presenter Nikki Fox had to pull out of the programme at the last minute due to illness. However, she confirmed that Angellica Bell had dashed over to stand in for her as the show underwent an unexpected line-up change. Alex announced: 'Now, unfortunately, poor Nikki is unwell, but Angellica [Bell] is here to save the day. She's raced all the way over from the Chelsea Flower Show.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Angellica then sent her co-star well wishes as she added: 'That's right, get well soon Nikki.' As well as the watchdog segment hosted by Angellica, the show also included chats with Timothy Spall, Jason Isaacs and Raynor Winn. Earlier this month, Alex Jones was reduced to tears on The One Show back tears as a guest read out a heart-wrenching letter from her late father. The host found herself welling up during an hour-long special in honour of the 80th anniversary of VE Day, which marked the end of World War Two in 1945. A woman named Eirwen was welcomed into the studio and she told how while her mother was pregnant with her in 1944, her father Lloyd was serving in the Royal Artillery. At the time, Lloyd wrote a heartbreaking letter to his wife in case he passed away at war, though he thankfully survived and returned to his family. Eirwen read out his devastating words live on-air as she shared: 'This seems a very strange letter to write. There seems to be so much I'm needed for. 'Firstly, of course, you - because you, my angel, are always first in my thoughts and when I do go into battle, it will be with your name on my lips and your memory inspiring me to fight. 'Then, there is Eirwen. I do so much want to see the child and be a real father. 'Although there are many miles between us physically, I feel that you are straining every nerve to be near me in spirit. 'I need you my sweetheart and I am just an ordinary chap but I am going in there with the gloves on. 'Don't grieve for me, my darlingest, but look after Eirwen and bring the child up to be as fine a person as its mother.' Tearfully, Eirwen concluded her reading: 'So, sweetheart, for the last time, I will say goodnight my darling, be good and God bless you.' Alex was left nearly in tears by the emotional letter and reached out to give Eirwen a comforting touch on the knee. The presenter said: 'Thank you, thank you for sharing that, that was... I mean, it's so moving, isn't it?'

Amanda Holden cuts a stylish figure in striking pink and white co-ord as she attends the Chelsea Flower Show
Amanda Holden cut a stylish figure as she attended the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday in a striking pink and white co-ord. The TV presenter, 57, was all smiles for the inaugural event in the classic patterned number, which featured a long ruffled skirt. It featured an open oyster design at the bottom, adding to the overall timeless style of the outfit. She accessorised the dress with a pair of large sunglasses, silver jewellery and a small handbag. She also ensured that she was perfectly matching with her choice of a light pink lipstick. Amanda looked like she was having the best time in the summer sunshine as she joked with fellow presenter and JLS star JB Gill, 38. He was also dressed to impress for the event and had donned a smart, dark green suit and white shirt. Amanda and JB were not the only celebrities at the event on Monday and the stars were well and truly out in force ahead of the show's public opening. Gemma Collins, Ferne McCann, Tasha Ghouri and Myleene Klass were among those looking blooming lovely for the event, a prestigious five-day flower show held annually in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. This year's event features a whopping 400 exhibits over 20 acres. It also has several themes including innovation, natural landscapes and the future. TOWIE's Gemma, who has gone from a size 26 to a size 20 in just three months on weight loss jab Mounjaro, displayed her slimmer frame in a sheer gown with caped sleeves that she wore over a slip. The reality starlet, 44, styled her ice blonde locks in a chic chignon and accessorised with diamante cat eye sunglasses on the outing. Her co-star Ferne McCann, 34, looked equally as stylish in a lemon yellow midi dress that boasted a plunging neckline and floral print. The celebs will be joined by the King and Queen for the first glimpse of this year's Chelsea Flower Show, after a dry spring has put pressure on the build-up to the event. England has had the driest start to spring for decades, and with extremes of drought, heatwaves and floods set to become the norm with climate change, some gardens at RHS's annual festival of gardening are exploring what that future might look like. The Chelsea Flower Show will be open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday.
