Nineties boyband star unrecognizable as he's spotted in LA – can you guess who he is?

A NINETIES boyband star was spotted in LA looking unrecognizable from his hey day. The singer, 48, cut a casual figure as he stepped out with long hair and a beard - but can you guess who it is? 5 5 5 Did you recognize it was JC Chasez from the legendary boyband NSYNC? The HUGE group were known for songs like Bye Bye Bye and Tearin' up my heart. Stepping out in LA, JC, now 48, looked totally different to when he first shot to fame as part of NSYNC in the 90s. The singer, whose real name is Joshua Scott Chasez, was seen picking up food near the Los Feliz neighborhood. JC was dressed causally in a pair of khaki pants and a short-sleeved white shirt. He completed his look with a baseball cap, shades and comfy slip-on shoes. JC looked a far cry from his boyband days where his hair was short and spikey, and he was clean shaven. Instead, his hair is now much longer and he has a beard that was speckled with grey. Justin Timberlake and NSYNC are 'in active talks' to perform a 'comeback show' that will air on streaming network FINDING FAME Before being part of one the most iconic boybands ever, JC starred on The All New Mickey Mouse Club. NYSNC - which consists of Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and JC - formed in 1995, but split in 2002. The band then thrilled fans when they reunited for the single Better Place for Trolls Band Together. Some of their best songs include I Want You Back, and It's Gonna Be Me. REUNION TALK Asked in 2021 about the prospect of an NSYNC reunion, while promoting his movie Palmer, Justin said: 'I don't have a crystal ball for what will happen with the music industry in the months, or years, to come. 'That's something that weighs on my mind in a heavy way. 'We will have to see what happens in terms of live music and I appreciate the question, but my focus right now is on Palmer.'

90s boy band star looks unrecognizable on rare outing in Los Angeles

A star from a beloved 90s boy band looked nearly unrecognizable as he stepped out for a rare outing in Los Angeles on Thursday. The performer has also gone on to pursue solo projects and most recently dropped a musical theater concept album late last year. The celebrity is none other than JC Chasez, 48 - one of the original band members of NSYNC, which was formed back in 1995. He kept it casual for the daytime excursion while running a few errands and was also spotted grabbing a bite to eat near the Los Feliz neighborhood. Chasez sported a pair of khaki pants as well as a short-sleeved white shirt and comfy slip-on shoes. . The singer completed the look by adding a checkered cap on top of his head and also opted for a pair of blue-rimmed shades. JC is not often pictured in the spotlight and was last seen while attending a pre-Grammys bash a few months earlier in February. At the time, the music artist dressed for the occasion wearing a sleek black suit as he posed alongside Paris Hilton. Chasez is one of the members of the boy band NSYNC alongside Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass. After being formed in the mid-90s, the group dropped hits such as It's Gonna Be May, Bye Bye Bye and Tearin' Up My Heart. In 2018, the band members were seen as they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Since the group's formation, it has released four studio albums and garnered a number of accolades over the years - such as nine Grammy nominations, seven MTV Video Music Awards and three American Music Awards. During an interview with CBS Mornings Plus last year, JC revealed whether the band could possibly come together for a reunion in the near future. In July 2024, Chasez as well as Kirkpatrick, Fatone and Bass had a mini reunion at the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in NYC. Timberlake had been absent from the red carpet due to being on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour - which is set to conclude later this year on July 30 in Turkey. JC explained that the group's current 'focus is on our current projects' but added that 'there is always a conversation being had behind the scenes about the potential of something.' And while talking to People, he further explained that there is 'nothing past basically us just chatting and checking in with one another. 'The door is not closed by any means, if that's the question, but there are no concrete plans for anything right now because everyone's got something on their plate at present.' Chasez continued, 'That's not to say down the road that it's going to happen or not going to happen. We just don't know yet. But look, the door is open on the discussion. I can say that.' The singer has been keeping busy and released a musical theater concept album in October 2024 titled Playing With Fire. The LP was inspired by Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein and was also in collaboration with Golden Globe-winning musician Jimmy Harry. JC's last solo album had been released 20 years earlier in 2004 and was called Schizophrenic. In regards to the music on his latest album, Chasez told CBS, 'There's other songs that have that tempo, and have that pop flair and things like that, because I want people to still move and have fun.' The performer added, 'The goal is to just really be engaging, and give people something to talk about when they're listening to it or when they're seeing it hopefully in the future.' JC further discussed the concept album to Billboard and explained, 'Playing With Fire touches on almost everything that I like. 'I love a good sci-fi film, so you get that aspect, and I love how music can make you so emotional in a different way.' He continued, 'Obviously, I love pop music, so I love the fact that you can sing and dance together in musical theater. It was just a great opportunity to bring all of these things that I've really enjoyed together into one space.' Chasez also has the goal of transforming his Playing With Fire album into a musical. He explained to People, 'The main plan is to make this musical. The concept album is a byproduct of the larger goal - to make the musical. 'We have this body of work that's music. We actually have a book/script that we've collaborated on as well.' JC further expressed, 'We're going to update it along the way, hopefully in workshops, but the goal is to make it a living, breathing piece on stage.'

NSYNC Just Earned Its First Platinum Single In America

More than 20 years after their peak, *NSYNC's 'Bye Bye Bye,' 'It's Gonna Be Me,' and 'This I Promise ... More You' have finally been certified platinum by the RIAA. LOS ANGELES - AUGUST 1999: Pop group *NSYNC, (clockwise L) JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick,Lance Bass, JustinTimberlake, and Joey Fatone pose for an August 1999 portrait in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by) NSYNC is one of the bestselling boy bands of all time, and its legacy is undeniable. The group dominated the late '90s and early 2000s with massive hits, unforgettable videos, and iconic live performances – and by breaking more than a few hearts. But somehow, despite all the success and ubiquity, NSYNC had never managed to collect even a single platinum-certified song in the U.S. — until now. More than two decades after its heyday, the Justin Timberlake-fronted pop outfit is finally catching up and securing some long-overdue wins. Three of NSYNC's most beloved tracks were recently awarded new honors by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). "Bye Bye Bye," "This I Promise You," and "It's Gonna Be Me" have all been certified platinum in the United States. Yes, somehow, that's a first. In a time when even rising stars and mid-tier pop acts regularly earn platinum plaques, it's almost unbelievable that NSYNC hadn't already reached this milestone. But while it may have taken longer than expected, these belated certifications serve as a reminder of how beloved the band's biggest singles still are to this day. Among the trio of recent honorees, "It's Gonna Be Me" was the only one that had previously secured any RIAA recognition. Back in mid-2000, when it first exploded, the song went gold. That remained its only official certification until this week. This frame, the band's only Hot 100 No. 1 single – another shocker – finally surges past that mark and earns triple platinum status. That means the pop smash has moved at least three million equivalent units in the U.S. alone. Even more shocking is the news of "Bye Bye Bye" and its new award. Despite being arguably NSYNC's most recognizable anthem, the track had never been certified by the RIAA — at any level. Now, more than two decades after its release, it doesn't just go platinum. It skips every milestone and leaps directly to five-times platinum. "This I Promise You" is also new to the RIAA honor roll. The group's heartfelt ballad has been certified platinum for the first time. Though it was overshadowed by some of NSYNC's flashier releases at the time, the appeal of "This I Promise You" has helped it reach this long-awaited milestone – decades after it first took on the Billboard charts. As those three tracks climb, one of NSYNC's albums also earns a new honor. No Strings Attached adds another certification, moving up to 12-times platinum in the U.S. The blockbuster full-length was named a diamond title by the RIAA back in December 2000. It moved to 11-times platinum the following year, and now it's climbed again. These new wins drastically increase NSYNC's total count of certified songs, but they're not entirely alone. A handful of the group's other hits have also earned RIAA plaques, albeit at lower levels. "I Want You Back" remains steady at gold, a status it first earned many years ago. The same can be said for "Music of My Heart," the group's collaboration with Gloria Estefan, which also holds gold certification and has not yet advanced further.
