Summer in McPhillips is an exciting and vibrant time. I've been able to celebrate graduations, pancake breakfasts, professional tennis tournaments, and local community park get-togethers.
Every June, I have the honour of attending graduation ceremonies across McPhillips to present awards to some truly deserving students. Whether it's the Young Leaders Award at École Lansdowne recipients Ronrich Montecer and Darius La Roche; Dong Nguyen, a STEM Award recipient at Garden City Collegiate; or Community Leader Awards at MITT and Seven Oaks MET Schools Mark Glazer and Chahatpreet Rayat, each recognition reflects the talent, dedication, and bright future of these inspiring youth. It's a privilege to support them — even in a small way — as they continue their academic journey.
The West St. Paul Canada Day celebrations are among the largest in the city — and they never disappoint! The day kicks off with a classic pancake breakfast and continues with bouncy castles, face-painting, live wrestling, a petting zoo, an arm-wrestling competition, a foam party, and of course, an epic fireworks finale. It's always spectacular to see so many families and community members come together to celebrate!

A true gem in West St. Paul is the Winnipeg National Bank Challenger Tennis Tournament — a week of world-class competition right in our own backyard! I was honoured to attend and take part in the coin toss for a match. This tournament not only brings top-tier athletes to our community but also inspires local youth. Many have the chance to get involved as ball kids, connect with the players, and even receive some one-on-one tips during fun matches. What an incredible way to grow the love of tennis close to home!
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time at Meadowlands Park for a wonderful community gathering. Organized by local residents, the event featured delicious food, great music, and local vendors showcasing their handmade goods. It's always inspiring to see neighbours come together to enjoy our beautiful summer days and celebrate community spirit.
