Two nabbed for manager's death
Hazaribag: Two assailants were arrested on charges of killing petrol pump manager Shankar Ravidas (32) and robbing him of Rs 14 lakh on April 15, Hazaribag SP Arvind Kumar Singh said.
"Acting on a tip-off about the supicious activities of two motorcycle-borne youths at Rahiya More in Ichak on Monday, we arrested the two with murder weapon," he added. The arrested were identified as Shiv Kumar alias Shiva (23) of Shekha village under Muffasil police station limits in Hazaribag and Rahul Kumar alias Rocky alias Deepak Kumar (26) of Nagwa Mohalla in Chatra town. A 0.765 bore country-made pistol with three bullets were seized from accused Rahul, police said.
Chain snatcher held in Dhanbad
Dhanbad: A woman was caught while attempting to snatch a gold chain during a religious procession at Telipara area on Tuesday.
"She was standing right beside me and her behaviour seemed suspicious. When she pushed me, I thought it was due to the crowd. But then I felt a sharp pull on my chain and realised what was happening," said Urmila Devi. "Locals caught a woman and handed her over to us," said R K Thakur, the officer-in-charge of the Dhanbad police station.

Ranchi: In run up to the World Environment Day on June 5, the Jharkhand Engineering Services Association (JESA) on Tuesday launched a 10-day environmental campaign, titled 'Healthy Environment, Secure Future'. The initiative focuses on spreading environmental awareness through grassroots activities like large-scale tree plantation drives and distribution of cloth bags to discourage single-use plastics.
These efforts are aimed at restoring ecological balance and promoting sustainable alternatives, JESA general secretary Rahul Kumar said.
