Childcare operators reminded to register with JPKA for safety compliance

KOTA KINABALU: Childcare operators in Sabah have been reminded that it is important to register with the Public Welfare Services Department (JPKA) to ensure safety, hygiene, and quality standards. JPKA Director Jais Asri said this during an advocacy briefing and plaque presentation ceremony involving 70 registered childcare centres here on Thursday. Advertisement He warned that unregistered childcare centres pose significant risks to child safety and urged the public to be vigilant. There are currently 231 registered centres in Sabah serving over 3,300 children, with RM151,200 in subsidies allocated to 42 of them. Foundation uplifts lives in Sabah with food packages for 500 families

FOOD packages will be distributed to families in Sabah under PETRONAS Foundation's 'Uplifting Lives Festive' programme in conjunction with the Kaamatan celebration. As part of the initiative, the foundation will hand out essential food items and festive food packages to 500 families in Tambunan, Kepayan, Tongod and Manggatal who were selected by Sabah Welfare Department (JPKA). The programme was launched in conjunction with the month-long state-level Kaamatan celebration in Tambunan. To kick off the initiative, state-level Kaamatan main committee chairman and Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan presented the contribution to five Tambunan recipients. The remaining packages for Tambunan will be distributed by JPKA, with additional deliveries scheduled throughout the month in the other areas. PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan regional office general manager Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said 'Uplifting Lives Festive' was part of an ongoing effort to support communities in need during key festive seasons in Malaysia. 'This contribution is about easing the load for families who may be struggling, especially during Kaamatan. 'Through Yayasan Petronas, we hope to bring some comfort and joy during this festive period,' she said.
