Conference on cognitive health and purposeful longevity at JSS AHER in Mysuru from July 10
The JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, will host CogniSENSE+ 2025, a global interdisciplinary conference on cognitive health, hearing access, and purposeful longevity, on July 10 and 11. Organised by the School of Public Health at JSS AHER in collaboration with the JSS Medical College, the two-day event aims to promote cognitive wellness and inclusive ageing among diverse populations. Over 250 participants from across the country are expected to attend, the organisers said at a press conference here on Tuesday. The conference will feature five international experts from the University of Georgia, Ohio University, Oklahoma State University, and Birmingham University, along with 17 national experts representing institutions such as NIMHANS, AIISH, JSS AHER, and others. The inaugural event on July 10 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am will be attended by Radha Murthy, president, Dementia India Alliance; Deepti Navaratna, T.V. Raman Pai chair professor, National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), and Rajani P., Deputy Director – Mental Health, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka. The scientific programme will include keynote addresses, research presentations, panel discussions, and solution showcases covering topics such as dementia care innovations, hearing rehabilitation, cognitive neuroscience, as well as assistive technologies, mental well-being and social inclusion, and community-driven approaches to healthy ageing. JSS Medical College principal Narayanappa stated that the conference seeks to redefine longevity by focusing not just on lifespan, but also on meaningful living, social connection, and improved quality of life.

JSS AHER partners with Google on AI-driven healthcare
Mysuru: In a milestone for medical innovation in India , JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has emerged as a key partner in a artificial intelligence (AI) research initiative led by Google Research . The findings of this collaboration were featured in two papers published in Nature, a scientific journal, the JSS AHER said on Friday. The research focused on the development and evaluation of the Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer (AMIE) - an advanced AI system created by Google Research to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve interactions between physicians and patients. The studies benchmarked AMIE's performance against that of trained primary care physicians using text-based consultations with standardised ones across healthcare settings in Canada, the UK and India. Dr B Suresh, pro-chancellor of JSS AHER, said, "We are proud to be at the forefront of transformative advancements in digital health and artificial intelligence. In keeping with this momentum, we've also updated our pharmacy curriculum to integrate AI, equipping graduates to lead the future of medicine." Dr H Basavanagowdappa, vice-chancellor, said, "At JSS AHER, we are cultivating an innovation-first ecosystem, especially in the fields of AI and digital health. This global collaboration not only elevates our academic profile but also empowers our students and faculty to directly engage with real-world healthcare challenges. JSS AHER, Mysuru, partners with Google Research in AI healthcare studies
JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has emerged as a key Indian collaborator in pioneering artificial intelligence (AI) research led by Google Research, with the results published in Nature. Vikram Patil led the Indian arm of the study, which evaluated the Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer (AMIE), an AI tool designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient-physician interactions. The research compared AMIE's performance with primary care doctors in text-based consultations across Canada, the UK, and India. JSS AHER played a vital role by designing simulation scenarios relevant to Indian healthcare settings, a press release said. JSS AHER pro-chancellor B. Suresh said that the collaboration demonstrates the institution's commitment to integrating AI in healthcare and academics. Vice-chancellor H. Basavanagowdappa added that these achievements enhance JSS AHER's leadership in AI-driven healthcare solutions while offering students unique opportunities to engage with real-world challenges, the release added.

Conference on pharmaceutical quality assurance through good manufacturing practices held in Mysuru
A national conference on 'Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance through Good Manufacturing Practices' was conducted by the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in Mysuru on Wednesday. It was held in association with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Mysuru branch, along with other organisations, and included a session on Revamped Pharmaceutical Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (RPTUAS). A release said that the initiative aimed to ensure consistent production and control of medicinal products to meet the highest quality standards. The primary objective of the conference was to promote the understanding and implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles among pharmaceutical manufacturers, emphasising the importance of adherence to GMP standards for ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of medicinal products, the release added. The conference also aimed to provide guidance on incorporating GMP requirements into national medicine laws and regulations, while facilitating the exchange of best practices in GMP implementation. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Khalid Ahmed Khan, Deputy Drug Controller and president of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Karnataka State branch. Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, the vice chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, urged the industry to view GMP not merely as a regulatory requirement, but as a core responsibility. Dr. Amaresh Tumbagi, former Drug Controller of the Karnataka government, highlighted various inspections conducted under Schedule M and discussed how regulatory bodies have evolved with the revised version. Dr. Pramod Kumar T.M., Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, provided insights into industry and government regulations related to GMP. Around 100 delegates from different industries and academics were present apart from the members of IPA Mysuru branch. Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, Under Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, Yashwant Shinde, Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and Dr. R.S. Savitha, Secretary, IPA Mysuru, were among those present.
