JTS Opens Second Idaho Facility, Creating 140 New Jobs and Expanding U.S. Manufacturing Footprint

The $55 million investment adds 140 jobs, doubles the company's production capacity and supports long-term economic growth in the region. (PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is inviting community members to provide comments regarding Xcel Energy's Just Transition Plan. Xcel Energy has filed for PUC approval of its 2024 'Just Transitioning Solicitation' (JTS) Plan; its primary objectives include fulfilling resource adequacy and providing reliable service, continuing the process on emissions and reductions, and delivering a just transition to communities where generation assets are retiring. Xcel Energy's Unit 3 coal-fired facility in Pueblo will retire no later than January 2031, and coal-fired facilities in Craig and Hayden are set to retire in 2027 and 2028. PUC will hold multiple hearings for local community members and other stakeholders to provide comments on the JTS proposal. 'The PUC is hosting these meetings to hear directly the unique needs and perspectives of communities impacted by the retirement of these coal-fired facilities,' said PUC Director Rebecca White. 'Public input is a critical part of the Commission's process to review Xcel Energy's JTS proposal.'
