‘Need to stamp out immediately' – Judd Trump moans Crucible atmosphere is ‘like darts' after giving fan death stare
JUDD TRUMP wants loudmouth snooker louts booted out, saying: We don't want noisy darts atmospheres in our sport. In frame 26 of his 17-14 semi-final defeat to Mark Williams on Saturday night, Trump missed a key red and a heckler in the Crucible appeared to shout out: "What was that?" 2 This angered Trump, 35, who walked back to his chair and glared at the guy who had called out after he had played the shot, which many had expected him to pot. While calls of encouragement are never a problem – and events like the Masters at Ally Pally and the Shoot Out are known for their raucous atmospheres – this particular shout was against standard etiquette. And the World No1 said he wants referees to 'stamp out' any repeat episodes which occur in the future. Trump, 35, replied: 'We don't really want the darts atmosphere in snooker. 'I don't mind if they're cheering when he's potted a ball or cheering 'go on Mark' as he's walking to the table. 'I think it's something we've got to stamp out immediately going forward. 'It's a little bit annoying because we didn't used to have that kind of thing. 'Hopefully in the future that can be stamped out immediately. Williams – who ended up winning that corresponding frame – is not bothered by what is called out by fans. That is because he grew up playing in loud and rowdy and snooker clubs in South Wales. The World No6 said: 'Well, it makes no difference to me. I mean I play in a club, which is loud and noisy. 'I used to play in a club donkey's years ago where they'd fight at 10 or 11 in the morning around my table. 'They can shout whatever they want when I'm at the table. It makes no difference to me.'

Judd Trump breaks Guinness World Record and bags £100,000 payday at World Snooker Championships
JUDD TRUMP has set a world record mark of centuries in a single season. The Juddernaut, 35, banked £100,000 for reaching a ton of tons in 2024-25 during his second-round win over Shaun Murphy. 2 And in the opening half an hour of his third and final session with Luca Brecel in the quarter-finals of the World Championship, the world No.1 notched back-to-back scores of 115 and 116. It means he has 104 centuries for this campaign and nobody has performed better than that in the sport's long history. Australian cueist Neil Robertson set a tally of 103 in 2013-14 but that has now been overtaken in the record books. However, Dennis Taylor got it wrong when Trump sank the final green, saying on commentary he had '103 centuries for one season' – which was one short. And this had to be clarified later on by the unflappable presenter Hazel Irvine. There were no celebrations or punches in the air by Trump and it was far removed from the standing ovation he received when he got the century of centuries on Sunday night – and for which he picked up that mega bonus. Trump has 11 centuries in three matches and is eying up the Crucible record. Stephen Hendry, 56, lost in a final-frame decider in the 2002 final to Peter Ebdon but during that run he had 16 centuries on his scorecard. Mark Williams, 40, equalled that mark in 2022 when he made the semi-finals where he lost 17-16 to Trump.-

"You don't really want to be putting in so much effort to get to a quarter-final. But I take a lot of confidence from beating Shaun in that way. "In the end it was tremendous to get over the line." Judd Trump wins £100,000 bonus as he banks stunning hundred century breaks in snooker season
JUDD TRUMP banked a £100,000 bonus after he reached 100 century breaks in a single snooker season. The Juddernaut, 35, notched breaks of 106 and 132 in the second session of his last 16 clash with Shaun Murphy on day nine of the World Snooker Championship. 1 By reaching the ton of centuries, the world No. 1 will receive a one-off cash prize off World Snooker Tour. The offer has been on the table since the start of the 2023-24 season for any player if they made the milestone and Trump, the best break-builder of his generation, cashed in on the biggest stage. Trump, the 2019 world champion, scored 100 centuries in 91 matches. This is not the first time he has done this as in 2019-2020, the Bristol potter finished with 102 centuries from 95 matches. The record is 103 set by Neil Robertson in 115 matches in 2013-14 and that is well within Trump's reach, especially if he manages to get past the Magician and make the quarter-finals. This meeting has been christened as the Battle of the Bonuses because Murphy, 42, will secure a £147,000 bonus if he nails a 147 at some point in Sheffield. That is because he hit a maximum at the Masters and anyone compiling two in the Triple Crown events or the Saudi Arabia Masters will earn the extra dosh. Welshman Jackson Page hit two in the same match in qualifying – an unprecedented feat – and he is getting £147,000 off baize bigwigs. Twenty-three of the 100 centuries came in the Championship League in Leicester – a behind-closed-doors event – but Trump did not expect to reach the target, given he has had to withdraw from some events. He had gone close earlier in the match but broke down on breaks of 98, 89 and 97. Trump punched the air and received a standing ovation and he said: 'It is way better than the achievement last time because I played far more tournaments and far more games then. 'I have missed three or four tournaments in the season as well. I didn't target this at all. I didn't even think it was a possibility. 'I didn't even want to be in contention but after the Championship League, I didn't expect the pockets to be so big, and the centuries were flying in for everyone. 'If I had known that I would have been playing in the first group and could have done it by now.'
