LSU football target releases top three, reveals commitment date

LSU football target releases top three, reveals commitment date NEWS: Elite 2026 DL JaReylan McCoy is down to Florida, LSU, & Texas, he tells me for @on3recruits The 6'7 245 DL from Tupelo, MS will announce his College Decision on July 1st Where Should He Go? ⬇️ — Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) May 29, 2025 LSU football made the final three for 2026 defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy, according to a report from On3's Hayes Fawcett on Thursday. McCoy, who decommitted from LSU in February, named the Tigers, Florida and Texas as his top three options. He will announce his decision on July 1 after reopening his recruitment earlier this year. The four-star prospect is No. 8 out of Mississippi and No. 17 at his position, according to On3's Industry Rankings. He's currently on an official visit to the Gators and has trips scheduled for June to Texas, Ole Miss, and LSU. McCoy would add to the nation's top class in the 2026 cycle. The six-foot-seven, 245-pounder would be the second commit at his position alongside five-star Richard Anderson. Head coach Brian Kelly's staff made enough of an impact on him the first time around. With other schools still in the race, expect the Tigers to pull out all the stops to regain the services of one of the region's top prospects.

Texas surging for elite 2026 DL from Mississippi

Four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy is still looking for a home after he decommitted from LSU in February. His list of suitors has been narrowed down to four. One of them is the Texas Longhorns, who he has an official visit to see on June 13. As his June 1 commitment date approaches, a few schools are separated themselves although McCoy's list is small. He recently mentioned that Texas along with Florida are leading the way in his recruitment at the moment. Advertisement "Everything is bigger in Texas for sure," McCoy told Rivals. "It was good meeting with the coaches and seeing the atmosphere out there. When I went out there, they did a meet-up with the fans. All the fans came out and the players signed autographs ... that's somewhere I know I can be ... with the fans supporting the team, that played a big role for me." McCoy is listed as the No. 108 recruit nationally and the No. 10 defensive end prospects according to Rivals. He is ranked as the No. 4 player out of Mississippi as well. The 6-foot-7, 245-pounder came out the gate as a freshman and showed that he was an elite talent. McCoy finished with 70 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and six sacks. As a sophomore in 2023, McCoy has his best season on the high school level. He racked up 44 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles. While helping Tupelo High School win the Mississippi 6A state title last season, McCoy registered 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Advertisement The Longhorns didn't offer McCoy until March of this year. It says a lot about head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff that they have moved up McCoy's list of programs so fast in a short amount of time. Four-star DL JaReylan McCoy includes Auburn in top four

Four-star DL JaReylan McCoy includes Auburn in top four The ex-LSU commit will choose between Auburn and three other programs in early July. A four-star defensive lineman and Under Armour All-American has included Auburn in his top schools ahead of his summer commitment date. JaReylan McCoy, a four-star defensive lineman from Tupelo, Mississippi, has announced his top schools and a tentative commitment date, according to a report by Chad Simmons of On3. He tells On3 that Auburn, along with Texas, LSU, and Florida, are recruiting him the hardest and will be at the front of his focus ahead of his July 1 commitment date. The 2026 defensive lineman committed to LSU during the Under Armour All-America game on Jan. 2, but de-committed one month later on Feb. 3, which gives Auburn and several other programs the chance to sway his decision. Auburn will get the chance to make a giant impression on McCoy on May 16, when he stops by for an official visit. McCoy is a four-star defensive lineman according to On3 and Rivals, and is a five-star according to ESPN. ESPN ranks McCoy No. 2 among defensive linemen for the 2026 class, and No. 1 among recruits from Mississippi. Auburn has seven commits for its 2026 class, including four-star EDGE Hezekiah Harris. 2026 4-star DL has canceled his visit to Texas A&M this summer

2026 4-star DL has canceled his visit to Texas A&M this summer Last week, it was reported that one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the 2026 cycle, four-star JaReylan McCoy, would take an official visit to Texas A&M this summer. Still, as of Sunday night, it was revealed that the talented pass rusher will instead take an official visit to Austin, Texas, this summer. According to OrangeBloods (Rivals) writer Jason Suchomel, who recently spoke with McCoy, the former LSU commit visited Florida this weekend and will visit Texas unofficially and officially sometime soon. The Aggies are likely out of the running for his commitment unless something changes in the near future. McCoy isn't a desperate need for Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class after landing commitments from four-star defensive linemen Trashawn Ruffin and Jermaine Kinsler, while the Longhorns are looking to build their future defensive line to prepare for the impending departures after the 2025 season. After recording 11 sacks and 23 tackles for loss during his 2023 sophomore season, McCoy finished with 7.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 2024. According to 247Sports Composite, JaReylan McCoy is currently positioned as the 119th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 13th-ranked defensive lineman, and the 7th-ranked prospect in Mississippi.
