The Johnny Gaddar actor said that every time he would sit with his father they would go through his archives of photographs and memorabilia. Neil mentioned that he and his team have been writing the story for quite some time now. In an interview with News 18, the actor said he is in talks with Parmanu director Abhishek Sharma to helm the film. 'We're just trying to figure out the right medium, the producers to collaborate with, the actors and the filmmakers to come onboard. I've had a word with Abhishek. Prateik Smita Patil On Custody Battle Between Raj Babbar And Smita Patil's Family After His Birth: " Kaun Maa, Kaun Baap"
New Delhi: Prateik Smita Patil has changed his last name many times in the last decade. A few weeks ago, he had revealed in public that he has chosen to go with the name Prateik Smita Patil after discussing with his wife, Priya Banerjee. In a recent interview, Prateik Smita Patil revealed a custody battle ensued after his birth between his father Raj Babbar and Smita Patil's family to decide upon his last name. Smita Patil died soon after his birth. In a video shared on Varinder Chawla's YouTube channel, Prateik shared, "I was born Prateik. There was a custody battle for me from my mom's side of the family and my father's side of the family. My mom's side won. There was still a battle for the surname. Finally, in the passport, it was 'Prateik Smit Babbar'. "It wasn't even Smita, so growing up I was 'Prateik Smit Babbar'. In school, everyone thought I was Christian because they would wonder 'why Smit?', no one cared for Babbar. Everyone just called me Smit." Prateik made a lasting impression in his debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. In that film, he was credited as 'Prateik Babbar' but subsequently, he went with just 'Prateik' for a few years. "In my first film, my name was Prateik Babbar and then the devil got the better of me and I started thinking 'Kaun hai maa? Kaun hai baap? (Who is mom? Who is dad?)' Then I started thinking, 'I don't want to be Patil, I don't want to be Babbar. I want to be just Prateik.' For a few films, I was only Prateik because I was bitter about my parents. I was like, I don't want to belong to them. They have only given me trauma my entire life. I don't want to belong to them and then I continued with Prateik," he said. Sharing the thought behind settling with the name Prateik Smita Patil, he said, "I had to embrace that name, it makes me complete. Now, I am complete, I feel complete. Priya said 'Prateik, you owe it to her, she gave her life for you, you owe that, you are her son' and that hit different. I was like 'this is who I have to be'." Prateik is known for acting in films like Dhobi Ghat, Baaghi 2, Mulk, Mitron, Chhichhore, to name a few.

Neil Nitin Mukesh says 'everyone doubted me' during film debut: 'Never thought anyone would give me work'
It was in 2007 that Neil Nitin Mukesh entered the film industry with Johnny Gaddaar, a rather unconventional pulp thriller. Eighteen years later, the actor has another first - his OTT debut with the JioHotstar show Hai Junoon. As the show releases, Neil sits down with HT to talk about his two debuts, how streaming works, and more. (Also read: Neil Nitin Mukesh reveals Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was offered to him: 'Was asked to choose between this and Johnny Gaddaar') Hai Junoon is a show about a dance group that challenges the hegemony of its college's prestigious singing choir. The Step Up-like series stars Neil as the mentor of the choir, a famous musician named Gagan Ahuja. Talking about what prompted him to take up the show, he says, "During the peak of COVID, I started getting a gazillion offers, but all about guns and roses with thorns. I wanted to find something a clutter-breaker. Just like when I was making my film debut, I chose Johnny Gaddaar because it was different from the norm of love stories back then. I wanted to stand out by choosing something unique. So, when this show came, I was wowed." Hai Junoon is an ensemble show, with Jacqueline Fernandez alongside Neil, as well as a dozen other younger stars. "I know this show is not just about me," says Neil matter-of-factly, adding, "There are shows that are principally about that one person or central character. I have never chosen stories and characters based on my screen time or whether I am the hero or not. What is my role, what am I doing in it, and whether me being there takes the story forward - these are things I have based my decisions on." Neil says he is secure in himself, which is what allows him to choose such roles and projects. Ask him where the security comes from, and he says, 'struggle'. The actor elaborates, "I never thought anybody would give me work. It's not as if I haven't struggled. I came into an industry where my grandfather and father were already household names, so the comparisons are more, and the pressure high. Thankfully, I wanted to become an actor. But still, there was so much weight on my shoulders. Everyone was doubting me." But Johnny Gaddaar was a big success, both critically and commercially, paving the way for hits like New York, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and Golmaal Again. Now, the actor hopes to carry forward that same form in streaming. "The platform does not matter, to be honest. The story does. Yes, this 20-episode arc allows your character more time. That makes an actor more secure in their work. You know if you are there at the end of 20 episodes, you will get a chance to show what you are." Hai Junoon is currently streaming on JioHotstar.

Neil Nitin Mukesh reveals Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was offered to him: ‘Was asked to choose between this and Johnny Gaddaar'
Jaane Jaane Na turned out be a dream debut for actor Imran Khan but do you know the film was first offered to Neil Nitin Mukesh? Neil recently revealed in an interview that he was offered the film but with a caveat. (Also read: Neil Nitin Mukesh says many in the industry celebrate when a film doesn't work, admits it has become 'toxic') In conversation with Just Too Filmy, Neil said that producer Jhamu Sugandh offered him both Johnny Gaddaar and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na on the same day but asked to choose one. 'I loved Jaane Tu… It was a love story, and that was the trend," Neil said. However, the actor wasn't comfortable with people calling him a "chocolate boy" hence he went for a more uncoventional, darker role which led him to choose Sriram Raghavan's Johnny Gaddaar. The New York actor further said, "Jaane Tu… was destined for Imran. It was an honour that I even got to read the film. I will never say that I rejected Jaane Tu… I didn't have the honour of working on that film. If I had the privilege of working on both, I'd eat both of them and give my 100 percent but unfortunately for me, I couldn't work on Jaane Tu." Directed and written by Shriram Raghavan, Johnny Gaddar was a neo-noir crime thriller which marked Neil's debut and earned him rave reviews. Produced by Adlabs the film also starred veteran actor Dharmendra Zakir Hussain, Rimi Sen, Vinay Pathak, Govind Namdeo, Dayanand Shetty and Ashwini Kalsekar. The film was a sleeper hit and received critical acclaim too. Neil will next be seen in Hai Junoon! Dream. Dare. Dominate, an upcoming musical drama television series directed by Abhishek Sharma. Produced under Jio Creative Lab, it also stars Jacqueline Fernandez. The series is scheduled to premiere on 16 May 2025 on JioHotstar.
