Inside Jack Davenport's career as Prime Video fans spot him in The Assassin
The Assassin fans were taken aback when they spotted actor Jack Davenport show up in episode two. The Assassin official trailer on Amazon Prime Prime Video subscribers have begun delving into the newly released crime drama The Assassin, and were taken aback to see actor Jack Davenport pop up. In the series, retired assassin Julie (portrayed by Keeley Hawes) is dragged back into her lethal past, but this time, her estranged son Edward (Freddie Highmore) joins her in a fight for survival. During their escapade in episode two, Prime Video viewers did a double-take as Julie and Edwards' paths intersected with her former colleague Sean, played by actor Jack Davenport. The 52 year old is certainly a familiar face, so as subscribers navigate their way through The Assassin, here's a rundown of everything Davenport has been involved in thus far. Actor Jack Davenport's career When he first started working on set, his role quickly evolved to include on-camera work where he portrayed a student zoo keeper. However, his first significant role came in 1996, when he starred alongside The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln in the drama This Life about a group of trainee solicitors and lawyers. This was just the start as he went on to secure roles in Ultraviolet, The Talented Mr Ripley, Dickens, and the sitcom Coupling. It was in 2003, however, that he catapulted to international fame as the villainous Commodore James Norrington in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. The British Royal Navy officer was smitten with Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and popped the question, but to his dismay, she picked blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) instead. Davenport went on to appear in the franchise's subsequent films, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. In recent times, the actor has found his niche on television. From 2012 onwards, Davenport has featured in musical drama Smash, The Good Wife, The Mindy Project, White Famous, Next of Kin, and Deception. Perhaps his most notable roles have been playing Jason Craig in Apple TV+'s The Morning Show, Karl Grove in Why Women Kill, and Nils Headley in Dr Death. Davenport also has two additional projects in the pipeline following his stint in The Assassin. Teaming up with True Blood's Stephen Moyer, he'll appear in period drama The Forsyte Saga, which is presently being filmed. Additionally, Davenport is involved in comedy Blueberry Inn, currently in pre-production, centring on an "emotionally-stunted butler" who inherits a "broken-down inn from his Lord".

Channel 5 drama lands a second series before the first even airs – and filming is already underway
A CHANNEL 5 drama has secured a second series - before series one has even hit screens. The period show is a reimagining of a Nobel Prize-winning book series. 2 2 Penned by Poldark screenwriter Debbie Horsfield, The Forsytes follows an upper-class family of stockbrokers across multiple generations. And it is set against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving late-Victorian world. Despite the first series having not yet aired, a second instalment has already been confirmed. Among the leading cast members are Doctor Who star Millie Gibson and The Morning Show actor Jack Davenport. Further cast includes Joshua Orpin, Francesca Annis, Stephen Moyer, Eleanor Tomlinson and Susan Hampshire OBE. Millie, 20, portrays Irene Heron, the dancer, who is known for her scandalous manner when it comes to men. BAFTA winner Francesca, 80, plays formidable Forsyte matriarch Ann while Jack, 52, stars as Ann's competitive son James. OBE, who starred in the 1967 BBC Forsyte Saga and won the first of her three lead actress Emmys for the role, plays Lady Carteret. The show is based on a trilogy of books called The Forsyte Saga, written by John Galsworthy. These novels were released between 1906 to 1921 - with several adaptations over the years. The Ex-Wife - New parents Tasha (Céline Buckens) and Jack (Tom Misson) seem to have the perfect life, but the constant presence of Jack's overly friendly but suspicious ex-wife Jen (Janet Montgomery) puts pressure on the couple. But as the series progresses it becomes less clear who the bad guy really is and how far everyone will go to get the life they think they deserve. Heat - EastEnders alum Danny Dyer leads this four-part action thriller, set in Australia, which sees two families holidaying together during bushfire season. But instead of rest and relaxation, secrets and lies start to unravel — and not everyone will make it out alive… Lie With Me - Another soap legend jets off to Australia, this time its EastEnders alum Charlie Brooks who takes as a married woman trying to saving her marriage by moving halfway around the world after her husband had an affair. However it's far from plain sailing, as a young and attractive live-in nanny comes to work with the Fallmont family, and tensions soon build and eventually, someone ends up dead. The Drowning - Jill Halfpenny plays Jodie, a woman whose life is shattered following the disappearance of her beloved four-year-old son, Daniel. However, ten years later, the grieving mother thinks she's finally found her missing child, and embarks on a journey to discover the truth about him. But has she really just found the son she has been missing for so long? It was originally commissioned by Masterpiece on PBS and produced by Mammoth Screen, part of ITV Studios, But earlier this year, it was revealed Channel 5 had secured the broadcast rights for the rebooted series. Susanne Simpson, Head of Scripted Content and Executive Producer at Masterpiece said at the time: 'We can't wait to bring The Forsytes to our Masterpiece viewers in the US, and we're thrilled that the series has a UK home at 5. "With brilliant actors and an amazing crew, Mammoth Screen has created a sumptuous reimagining of a classic that will delight audiences around the world.'

‘I was on one of the biggest TV shows in the 90s, but I ditched fame ten years ago for a very different job'
IN the 90s, TV show This Life launched the careers of some of the UK's biggest stars. While Andrew Lincoln went on to star in the Walking Dead, and Jack Davenport appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean – their co-star chose a completely different career path. 8 8 8 Now Daniela Nardini, who became a fan favourite on the show as straight-talking lawyer Anna Forbes on the show, is now a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), living life away from the spotlight in Glasgow. Daniela, now 57, was beloved as Anna on the smash-hit series, which launched in 1996 and followed a group of five friends as they navigated their twenties after graduating law school. The series saw the gang living together in East London as they try to get their foot on the career ladder, with Anna having a love-hate relationship with Miles (Jack Davenport), whom she had a fling with while studying. Daniela appeared in 32 episodes of the series, before reuniting with the cast in for TV movie This Life +10, marking the show's 10th anniversary in 2006. The role won her a BAFTA for Best Actress in 1998. While she continued to act – starring in multiple episodes of Waterloo Road, plus episodes of Vera and Lewis on her credit list – her performance career later took a backseat to events in her personal life. In 2020, Daniela told the Daily Mail she had endured 'the worst five years of her life', revealing her father died in 2015, she got divorced shortly after, before being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 2018, getting a mastectomy. She told the site: 'I went through a very dark period. Sometimes I wonder if it was all the emotional stuff I was going through that caused my cancer. 'A couple of years down the road, I now feel as if I've emerged stronger and a better person really. Anna would be proud.' However, she noted that her time on This Life feels like 'another life now', and doesn't miss the fame that came with it. Trailer for 90s Brit drama series This Life During her recovery, Daniela turned to art therapy to help her process her cancer diagnosis, admitting she 'lost interest in performing'. 'Not because I felt physically I was not right, but I just felt mentally and emotionally not ready,' she explained. 'Acting is a very personal thing for me, as I suppose it is for other actors. But you've only got yourself to use and if there's not much 'self' there to use, it's futile even trying. At its worst, I would have struggled to even remember a line.' Proud of where she is in her life, Daniela said she came forward with her diagnosis in order to encourage others to get their breasts checked. 8 8 'It took a lot of pain and heartache to get here. But I'm a survivor and I feel strong,' she said. 'I feel like I'm finally the woman I wanted to be.' After launching her CBT practice from her home in Glasgow, Daniela explained that she felt being an actress helped her understand people on a more fundamental level. 'I have worked as an actress for over 35 years. This has been an invaluable education for me to study what it is to be human and how we can all suffer at times and feel misunderstood and lonely,' she wrote on her psychologist bio. 'I myself have struggled at times. My practice involves helping you gain insight, clarity and believe it or not humour at times. I don't shock easily so I won't judge.' 8 8 8

WALKING Dead fans are only just realising what Andrew Lincoln's real name is - and the very 'filthy meaning' behind it. The much-loved British star, 51, was on the gory zombie show for eight years, before quitting in 2018. 5 5 5 But despite it being nearly seven years since he was on the blood thirsty US TV show, fans have only just found out that the actor's name isn't really Andrew Lincoln. In fact, the star, who played tough sheriff Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead, has a very different surname. The actor's real full birth name is Andrew James Clutterbuck. Andrew has previously revealed how he was told to ditch his family name by his first agent, because it made him "sound like a hobbit". But the revelations don't stop there, as according to fans his surname has a "filthy meaning" - although this is just a theory. Taking to Reddit to discuss, one fan said: "it means 's**t shoveler'. This one joked: "The name sounds like a hippogriffs name in Harry Potter - Buckbeak and Clutterbuck!" BECOMING A STAR Andrew got his first taste of fame as the hapless Edgar "Egg" in the BBC 's smash hit This Life, in the mid-90s. Rick Grimes leaves The Walking Dead – but did he survive blowing up the crowd of walkers? The show - which was about about five twentysomethings trying to make it law - was a huge hit, and carried on for two series. This Life made stars out of its cast, which also included Pirates of the Caribbean actor, Jack Davenport. Speaking about playing Egg, Andrew previously told The Guardian: "I love him! "He was a sweet-natured guy and he spoke to a lot of people who had come out of university and were stuck in a rut and were re-evaluating what they wanted to do and believed in.' Andrew's role in This Life was enough to get him noticed, and he was subsequently snapped up by Channel 4 to lead the cast of Teachers. After four series on the show, he left and he got his big break in the movies when he starred in smash hit Christmas comedy, Love Actually in 2003. 5 5 WALKING DEAD FAME Fast-forward seven years later, and Hollywood called and in 2010 he reached a whole new audience on the American TV show, The Walking Dead. With his deep southern drawl, US fans were shocked at the time to learn Andrew was in fact British. During his eight year reign on the show his character, Georgia sheriff Rick, macheted, axed, gunned and spiked at least 150 zombies and quite a few humans. After quitting the show in 2018, he revealed he'd never actually seen an episode of The Walking Dead 'I haven't watched myself for 15 years, because I don't enjoy it," he told The Guardian at the time. "There's a lot of working parts that can change your performance in between you giving it and it going out. "I just realised I'd prefer to have my own imagination about what the story is.'
