Social media reacts to Clemson taking down Georgia Tech to advance to the ACC Championship

Social media reacts to Clemson taking down Georgia Tech to advance to the ACC Championship The Tigers are headed back to the ACC Championship Game for the second time in three years after knocking off No. 1 seed Georgia Tech, 9–4, on Saturday in Durham. Jacob Jarrell launched a third-inning grand slam over the Blue Monster to flip an early 3–0 deficit, and Clemson never trailed again. That blast was Jarrell's 15th homer of the season — and it blew the game wide open. Collin Priest added a solo shot in the 9th for good measure, while Andrew Ciufo doubled twice and scored twice to keep Clemson rolling. Cam Cannarella and TP Wentworth also drove in runs in a well-rounded offensive effort. Talan Bell got the start on the mound, but it was Jacob McGovern who slammed the door, tossing four scoreless innings and retiring All-ACC slugger Drew Burress to end it. Clemson (44–15) has now won six straight and will play for its 12th ACC Tournament title Sunday at noon on ESPN2. The Tigers await the winner of Florida State vs. North Carolina. With the huge win came some big reactions. Here is how social media reacted to Clemson advancing to the ACC Championship. Jarrell hits grand slam to power Clemson past Georgia Tech 9-4 in ACC tournament semifinal

DURHAM, N.C. (Clemson SID) – Jacob Jarrell's grand slam in the third inning gave No. 12 Clemson the lead for good in its 9-4 victory over No. 16 Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers, who won their sixth game in a row and upped their record in the tournament to 3-0, improved to 44-15 on the season. The Yellow Jackets, who were 1-1 in the tourney, dropped to 40-17 in 2025. The Yellow Jackets took advantage of an error on a potential inning-ending double play grounder to score two runs in the first inning, then Drew Rogers belted a solo homer in the second inning. Jarren Purify grounded a run-scoring single in the third inning. Four batters later in the frame with two outs, Jarrell blasted a grand slam, his 15th long ball of the year, second grand slam of the season and third career grand slam. Georgia Tech cut Clemson's lead in half in the fourth inning on Will Baker's two-out, run-scoring single. In the seventh inning, Cam Cannarella ripped a single to score a run and extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Later in the frame, the Tigers tacked on a run on an error. TP Wentworth lined a two-out, run-scoring double in the eighth inning to give Clemson an 8-4 lead. Collin Priest added a solo homer, his 12th of the year, in the eighth inning. Joe Allen (5-0) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, while Jacob McGovern pitched 4.0 innings to record his second save of the year. Georgia Tech starter Brady Jones (7-3) suffered the loss, as he gave up five runs on three in 3.0 innings pitched. The Tigers advance to play the winner of Saturday night's game between No. 2 seed Florida State and No. 3 seed North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game on Sunday at noon on ESPN2. Clemson baseball climbs into the Top 2 of National Polls

Clemson baseball climbs into the Top 2 of National Polls Clemson baseball has surged to No. 2 in the nation, climbing four spots in Baseball America's latest Top 25 following a hard-fought series win over No. 17 Louisville. 'Clemson climbs to No. 2 after a hard-fought series win over No. 17 Louisville that included a pair of one-run victories,' the outlet noted. 'The Cardinals jumped ahead with a three-run first inning in Friday's opener, but the Tigers responded, taking the lead in the seventh on a three-run homer by Jack Crighton that proved to be the game-winner. Clemson clinched the series Saturday behind a Jacob Jarrell solo homer and a Luke Gaffney RBI double, with Lucas Mahlstedt earning the save in both wins to push his season total to a nation-leading 14. Drew Titsworth added six shutout innings on Friday.' That big weekend helped the Tigers improve to 35-7 overall and 13-5 in ACC play, also earning them the No. 2 spot in the rankings from D1Baseball and Perfect Game. The rise sets up a marquee week for Clemson with a Tuesday night home showdown against No. 8 Georgia (ESPNU, 8 p.m.), followed by a road trip to face newly ranked NC State, who checks in at No. 25 after sweeping Cal. Georgia, now 33-8, took a hit in the rankings after being swept by Vanderbilt in Nashville, slipping to No. 9 in Baseball America's poll and No. 10 per D1Baseball. Texas now holds the top spot across the major polls after a 4-0 week, while North Carolina moved up to No. 3 and Florida State rounded out the ACC's presence in the top 10. Louisville, after dropping two of three to Clemson, fell to No. 19.

Clemson baseball takeaways as Tigers earn latest Top 25 series win vs Louisville

Clemson baseball takeaways as Tigers earn latest Top 25 series win vs Louisville The Clemson Tigers got six strong innings from pitcher Drew Titsworth in his first career college start and secured a series-clinching victory over Louisville with a 2-1 win Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Clemson, ranked No. 2 by Perfect Game and No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, won its 35th game to improve to 35-6 overall and 13-4 in the ACC. Louisville, ranked No. 19 in the Coaches Poll, fell to 27-11 overall and 9-8 in conference play Here's how the Tigers put together their 35th win of the 2025 college baseball season Friday. Clemson catcher Jacob Jarrell stays hot Clemson took its first lead on a no-doubt home run to left by catcher Jacob Jarrell leading off the fifth inning against Louisville starter Ethan Eberle. It was Jarrell's 10th home run of the season and his sixth in the past eight games. Jarrell is the first Tigers player to reach double digits in home runs this season. He has eight home runs over his last 13 games. Reliever steps up big in starter's shoes for Clemson The big story of the day was Drew Titsworth, the sophomore right-hander making his first career start after 13 appearances in relief this season. He pitched as well as coach Erik Bakich or anyone could have asked, tossing six shutout frames and holding an offense that ranked second in the ACC in batting average to three hits. Titsworth (4-0) struck out three without allowing a walk and threw 87 pitches, 59 strikes. He retired 18 of 21 batters faced before turning the game over to Clemson's bullpen in the seventh inning. Titsworth got some help behind him when Reed Garris tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning on just eight pitches to lower his ERA to 0.83 in 13 appearances (21 2/3 innings). Lucas Mahlstedt picked up his 14th save despite allowing a two-out home run to Louisville third baseman and cleanup hitter Jake Munroe. Mahlstedt struck out Eddie King Jr. for the game's final out. Clemson held Louisville to five hits and outhit the Cardinals, 6-5. Luke Gaffney continues swinging hot bat for Clemson The transfer first baseman hit an opposite-field double to the base of the wall in right with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Josh Paino from first base and extend Clemson's lead to 2-0. Gaffney picked up two hits in a 2-for-3 day at the plate. In the series' first two games, the 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year at Purdue has four hits in seven at-bats. Bottom line The Tigers are the only ACC team that hasn't lost a weekend series all season. That's going to be challenged with tough road trips to NC State (25-12) and No. 8 Florida State (29-7) on the horizon. In the meantime, Clemson can go for the sweep of Louisville in Saturday's series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Clemson continues to climb national polls, near consensus Top 5 team in college baseball

Clemson continues to climb national polls, near consensus Top 5 team in college baseball Clemson baseball continues to surge in the national spotlight, moving up to No. 2 in the latest Perfect Game rankings following a 3-1 week that included another ACC series win. The Tigers (33-6, 11-4 ACC) also rose one spot in the D1Baseball poll, now sitting at No. 3 nationally. The latest shuffle comes after a rough week for a couple of Top 5 teams, including LSU, which went 1-3. Texas, now 29-5, holds onto the No. 1 spot across all three major polls released Monday morning. While Perfect Game and D1Baseball rewarded Clemson for its consistency, Baseball America moved the Tigers down one slot to No. 6. The drop wasn't performance-based, though. 'Clemson dropped one spot in the rankings due to poll movement, but there's no sign of slippage on the field,' Baseball America noted. Clemson handled Stanford in Week 9, winning its midweek game and taking two of three from a quality Cardinal team that's spent time in the rankings this year. Aidan Knaak set the pace in the series opener, tossing six strong innings with just two hits, one run, and six strikeouts. Jacob Jarrell continued his home run streak with two more long balls to bring his team-leading total to nine, and Lucas Mahlstedt closed the series win with a three-inning save — his 12th of the year — bolstering his postseason honors case. Up next, the Tigers return home to host No. 17 Louisville, with the series set to begin Thursday at 7 p.m. The Cardinals are coming off a series loss at NC State but earned a dramatic extra-innings win over Kentucky earlier in the week. Clemson continues to make noise statistically within the ACC as well. Dominic Listi ranks second in on-base percentage (.525), with Cam Cannarella sitting sixth at .486 and ranking among the top five in both walks and runs scored. Jarren Purify adds speed and grit, placing top five in stolen bases and triples. On the mound, Knaak remains one of the league's top arms — fourth in both strikeouts (67) and wins (6), while holding opponents to a .186 average (fifth-best). Mahlstedt continues to lead the ACC in saves with 12. Offensively, the Tigers rank fourth in the conference in runs scored (301), are first in hit-by-pitches (76), and second in walks (250). They also lead the ACC in strikeouts at the plate (334). Clemson's pitching staff has produced the second-most strikeouts (383) while sitting fourth in ERA (4.53) and limiting opponents to a .227 batting average — also fourth-best in the conference.
