The ‘Apple Isle' may need a rebrand thanks to Tassie's vineyard boom
Bright winter sunlight streams in through the windows at Westella Vineyard's cellar door, on a bend in the Tamar River north of Launceston, Tasmania. The inside of the building is lined with raw, rough-sawn Tasmanian oak, which soaks up the sun and re-radiates it as a golden glow – particularly welcoming on this cold morning.
Although the cellar door opened only two years ago, Westella was established in 2014 as a specialist pinot noir vineyard by Will and Jacquie Adkins, who moved from the Barossa Valley to Tasmania a decade before.
