Whether you're celebrating with a quiet cup of tea, a lively reggae brunch or a hands-on art class, there's no shortage of ways to show love this Mother's Day in Toronto. From floral workshops and castle high teas to drag shows and artisan markets, the city is full of unique events for every kind of mom — and every kind of budget. Here are some of the best ways to make the weekend special. Pottery workshop in Greektown When: Everyday Where: The Danforth Art Studio For a creative spin on Mother's Day, why not try your hand at working with clay? The Danforth Art Studio is hosting special art classes to mark the holiday where their experts will guide you through creating handmade pieces. If you want take a spin on the clay wheel, the studio offers classes for $44 individually or $32 if you share a wheel with a friend. After finishing your creation, you can paint it for an additional $10/hour or take it home as is. Vinyl painting at sunset When: May 11 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: STACKT Market Toronto's downtown shipping container market is organizing a Vinyl Painting at Sunset workshop on Sunday. The market will have a cosy paint night aimed at celebrating moms and mother figures. They promise art, music and quality time at the price of about $33. Vinyls, paint and brushes will be provided. Toronto Artisan Market When: May 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Where: Trinity Bellwoods Park Spend Mother's Day browsing one-of-a-kind creations at the Toronto Artisan Market in Trinity Bellwoods Park. This outdoor market showcases the work of local makers, from handcrafted jewelry and ceramics to skin care, artwork and fresh baked treats. Bring your loved one and a picnic blanket and enjoy a laid-back day supporting Toronto's vibrant creative community. Drag Brunch in East York When: May 11 from noon to 3 p.m. Where: Fantasy Farm Event Venue For brunch and a show, head to Fantasy Farm for its second annual Mother's Day Drag Brunch. The lineup of local queens features Canada's Drag Race contestant Jada Hudson, Lady Gaga impersonator Baby Bel Bel, Taylor Swift impersonator Tay Bobo and Toronto's 'Bearded Baddie' Madee Lovegood. Tickets are $60 and include a breakfast buffet. Guests of all ages can enjoy a gourmet Jamaican buffet — featuring dishes like jerk chicken and waffles and a live roasted beef station — alongside live Lovers Rock reggae, tribute dedications and a lively dance floor. Tickets start at $33.28. Floral Arranging in Summerhill When: May 9 from 10 a.m. to noon Where: Creative Class Studio Kick off the weekend with a hands-on Mother's Day floral arranging workshop on Friday. Guests can craft their own stunning bouquets — perfect as a gift or a treat for themselves — while enjoying a cosy, creative atmosphere. Bring your own vase (BYOV) and a loved one for a meaningful start to the holiday. Kid friendly art workshop When: May 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Where: Anga's Farm and Nursery If you've got young kids, bring them to the Little Artists in the Garden: Paint a Stepping Stone for Mom workshop at the Anga's Farm and Nursery. Children given creative materials make their own personalized stepping stone for their Mom. The workshop gives kids an outlet for showing their appreciation to their mothers. Adult supervision is required at all times and the kids choose between two pre-cast garden stones, a dragon or a butterfly.
