Activists surround police van at Glasgow pro-Palestine protest
Campaigners met at Buchanan Steps in the city centre on Sunday afternoon to protest a conference being held by Glasgow Friends of Israel. Footage from the scene shows a large police presence and a crowd gathered around a police van shouting "let him go". NEW: Activists gathered around a police van in Glasgow after officers allegedly attempted to detain a man at a pro-Palestine protest Police can be seen later releasing the man from a vehicle as activists cheered 👇 📹 @JadeEckhaus — The National (@ScotNational) May 11, 2025 Witnesses reported pro-Palestine campaigner Mick Napier being detained by police before the demonstration had begun. Napier was then reportedly released, with video showing him getting out of the van and being met with cheers from the crowd. Police Scotland have been contacted for comment. More to follow.
