DJ, DM conduct surprise inspection of Kashi jails; stress jail inmates' welfare, strict regulations

Varanasi: District Judge Jaiprakash Tiwari and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Friday conducted a suprise inspection of the central and district jails to assess the operations and inmate welfare. The officials reviewed infrastructure, interacted with prisoners, and issued strict directives for improved jail management. At the Central Jail, the inspection began with a review of products made by inmates in the wooden furniture, steel, and brass units. The officials praised a gun metal statue of freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad displayed on the premises. An open gym was also inaugurated during the visit. During their round of the jail hospital, they interacted with patients to ensure access to necessary medical services. The team then visited high-security barracks, where they spoke with inmates, noted their grievances, and directed the jail superintendent to resolve the issues without delay. At the District Jail, the officials again engaged directly with inmates inside the barracks.
