Rajasthan CM to hold meeting with Union Minister on urban and energy projects
Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is scheduled to hold an important meeting with Union Energy, Housing, and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday in Delhi. The meeting is expected to play a crucial role in accelerating major infrastructure and energy projects in Rajasthan. The meeting reflects the continued efforts to strengthen the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'double engine' governance model, aimed at coordinated development through active collaboration between the Centre and states. Accompanying the Chief Minister to Delhi will be senior Rajasthan government officials, including Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra and UDH Secretary Vaibhav Galaria. The agenda for the meeting includes detailed discussions on Jaipur Metro Phase-2, E-bus network expansion, Smart battery storage projects and Urban development initiatives under the NCR Planning Board. The Chief Minister recently approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase-2, which aims to enhance north-south connectivity across the city through modern, high-speed public transportation. The proposed 42.80 km corridor will have 36 stations, 34 elevated and 2 underground, and will stretch from Todi Mode to Prahladpura. Key areas to be covered include Jaipur International Airport's new terminal, VKI and Sitapura Industrial Areas, Vidyadhar Nagar, SMS Hospital and Stadium, Collectorate and Proposed Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The project carries an estimated cost of Rs 12,260 crore, with financing support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Implementation will be overseen by the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation, a 50:50 joint venture between the central and state governments, which will also handle all future metro initiatives in the state. In addition to the metro project, the meeting will also address the rollout of an electric bus network, smart battery storage systems, and various urban development projects under the NCR Planning Board. These initiatives are expected to bolster Rajasthan's push for sustainable urban transport and improved living standards in growing urban areas.

Rajasthan CM okays detailed project report of Jaipur metro phase-II
JAIPUR : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has approved the detailed project report of Jaipur Metro Phase-2 and sent it to the Centre, according to an official statement on Wednesday. The construction work of this project will start as soon as the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approves the report. Work on Phase 2 of Jaipur Metro was announced in the 2025-26 state budget. The project on the 42.80-km stretch from Todi Mode to Prahladpura would be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation , a new 50:50 joint venture company of the state and Central government. It would be responsible for all current and future metro projects of Jaipur city. A loan for this project which is estimated to cost about Rs 12,260 crore would be provided by financial institutions. Once completed, this stretch of Jaipur Metro would have 36 stations of which two would be underground. This corridor will connect the major residential, commercial, educational and industrial areas of the city like the VKI Industrial Area and the Sitapura Industrial Area.

CM approves DPR for 43km Metro Phase-2
Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Wednesday approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Jaipur Metro Phase-2 . Following this decision, the DPR was sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for approval under the Metro Rail Policy, 2017. Construction will begin as soon as the Centre's approval is obtained. Jaipur Metro Phase-2, which was announced in the state budget 2025-26, will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation , a 50:50 joint venture company, formed by the state and central govts. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) agreed to provide loans for the project, which is estimated to cost about Rs 12,260 crore. The project is proposed along the north-south main transit corridor of Jaipur city, from Todi Mod to Prahladpura, spanning 42.80 km. A total of 36 stations are proposed, with 34 elevated and two underground. The corridor will connect major residential, commercial, educational, and industrial areas such as the VKI and Sitapura industrial areas. An underground metro station has been proposed under the new terminal of the airport to ensure seamless connectivity. Phase-2 will also provide direct connectivity to key locations like Tonk Road, Vidhyadhar Nagar, proposed interstate bus terminals, SMS Hospital, Sawai Mansingh Stadium, and the collectorate. The TOI had earlier reported that the state govt has decided to start construction work for the Phase-2 anytime between August and October this year.
