Kentucky commit Jaland Lowe sends clear message regarding 2025 NBA draft
Kentucky commit Jaland Lowe sends clear message regarding 2025 NBA draft Pittsburgh sophomore point guard Jaland Lowe announced Thursday on social media that he is withdrawing from the 2025 NBA draft and transferring to Kentucky. Lowe was named to the All-ACC third team last season, averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals on 37.6% shooting from the field in 33 games. He ranked fourth in the conference in total steals (55) and assists (169). The 6-foot-3 standout registered 10 20-point games, including a season-high 28 points, four rebounds and four assists on Nov. 29 in an overtime win over Ohio State. He also recorded the sixth triple-double in program history on Nov. 18 with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Lowe entered the transfer portal in April and was among the 106 players who filed as early entry candidates for the draft. He participated in the G League Elite Camp, averaging 9.5 points and five assists in two scrimmage games last week in Chicago, Illinois. The 20-year-old will now join a Wildcats team that was active in the transfer portal, adding the likes of Denzel Aberdeen (Florida), Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State) and Kam Williams (Tulane). Mark Pope also secured top-30 commitments from Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno. Lowe will now have the opportunity to continue his career in the SEC. He is projected to be a key player for the Wildcats, given his overall ability at the point guard position.

Purdue basketball facing blue blood opponent in historic gym for exhibition
Purdue men's basketball's preseason exhibition will feature one of the sport's most storied programs and a visit to a historic gym. The Boilermakers will face Kentucky in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena on Oct. 24, the team announced Friday morning. Game time and television assignment will be announced later. Purdue continues a recent theme of playing preseason games against top programs on the road. It played at Arkansas two years ago and at Creighton last season. The teams have not played since 1997. Kentucky leads the all-time series 6-2, and Purdue's last victory came in 1984. Both the Boilermakers and Wildcats played in the Sweet 16 in Indianapolis in March. Kentucky's history includes 17 Final Fours and eight national championships. It has won 22 or more games in 12 of the last 13 seasons, with 30 or more wins three times in that span. Both teams are preseason top 10 contenders, at worst. Kentucky guard Otega Oweh is going through the NBA Draft process and has not announced his plans for next season. A highly ranked transfer class included Pitt's Jaland Lowe, Florida's Denzel Aberdeen and Arizona State's Jayden Quaintance. The Wildcats are led by former Indiana Pacer Mark Pope.

Kentucky basketball's starting lineup prediction for next season from ESPN
Kentucky basketball's starting lineup prediction for next season from ESPN For most Kentucky Wildcats basketball fans, the 2025-26 season can't get here fast enough. After making it to the Sweet 16 in his first year, expectations are high for Mark Pope and a new squad that is loaded with talent. Pope has assembled a roster that many consider to be one of the nation's best heading into the season. Jeff Borzello, an analyst for ESPN, considers them a top ten team right now, listing them at number ten in a recent top 25 article. He specifically mentioned the backcourt, saying, "Kentucky is absolutely loaded on the perimeter next season, with the arrivals of transfers Jaland Lowe (Pitt), Kam Williams (Tulane) and Denzel Aberdeen (Florida) as well as five-star prospect Jasper Johnson to go with the potential return of leading scorer Otega Oweh and reserve Collin Chandler." Borzell also predicted the starting lineup for the Cats. He has transfer Jaland Lowe and Freshman Jasper Johnson as the guards, Otega Oweh on the wing, and Mouhamed Dioubate and Jaydan Quaintance as the starters inside. Obviously, that's dependent on Quaintance being 100% after a knee injury in February. This is an early prediction, and one of several different possible lineups. It's fun to look ahead, but we'll have a much clearer picture later in the summer.
