Texas Misses on No. 2 ATH in 2026 Class

Texas Misses on No. 2 ATH in 2026 Class originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns had a chance to add to their 2026 class with an elite in-state talent on Tuesday, but that was not the case. On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that four-star athlete Jalen Lott picked the Oregon Ducks over Texas, the LSU Tigers and USC Trojans. Lott is a native of Frisco, Texas, and attends Panther Creek High School. He is listed at 6-feet-even, 170 pounds. He also held offers from top programs like the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Miami Hurricanes, and others. Lott would have been Texas' second athlete commit from the 2026 class, joining four-star prospect Jermaine Bishop Jr. Lott is the No. 2 athlete and No. 8 prospect from Texas in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2026 class. The Longhorns kept tabs on the recruit, visiting with him five times during his recruitment. He recently took an official visit to Austin on June 13. Oregon visited him twice and was his last official visit before he committed. Texas has a class highlighted by five-star quarterback Dia Bell, five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley, and four-star inside offensive lineman John Turrentine. The Longhorns may have missed on Lott, but still have a chance to land the top athlete from the class. Lamar Brown recently announced Texas as one of his four finalists and revealed his commitment date for July 10. His other finalists are Texas A&M, Miami and LSU. While the program has had success in recruiting, it cannot all be good news. Texas lost the race for four-star cornerback Chace Calicut to Georgia. Texas opens the 2025 season against Ohio State on August 30, with a Noon ET kickoff on story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 8, 2025, where it first appeared.

Prediction made for 4-Star Oregon Ducks WR target to land with rival Big Ten school

The Oregon Ducks hosted several highly-rated recruits on official visits in Eugene this weekend, many of whom they are in a great position to land over the next several weeks. While on said visit, one of those targets — 4-star wide receiver Jalen Lott — picked up a prediction to land with a rival Big Ten school, though. Advertisement According to Texas Longhorns On3 reporter Eric Nahlin, the expectation is that Lott will end up with the USC Trojans in the end. His recruitment was coming down to a trio of Oregon, USC, and Texas, and there is a sense that the Longhorns are accepting that they are unlikely to land the blue-chip prospect who the 247Sports Composite rates as the No. 49 player in the 2026 class. While Nahlin's prediction is only rated at a 50% confidence level, it still indicates that there is recruiting intel available that suggests Lott, a Frisco, Texas native, may be leaning towards the Trojans. Before this latest prediction, it was Oregon and Texas who were considered the favorites. However, Lott's sister, Falyn, runs track at USC, so there is a family pull there. We will see after the official visit this weekend how much of a push the Ducks can make in Lott's commitment, and how the chips will stack up before his expected commitment date of July 8. 4-star Oregon Ducks target Jalen Lott makes recruiting announcement

The month of June was fun and exciting for the Oregon Ducks when it comes to the recruiting trail, with commitments from 5-star safety Jett Washington and 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton to show for it. It appears that July is shaping up to be even better. Over the next couple of weeks, a handful of highly-rated prospects are scheduled to announce their commitments, and the Ducks are in a great position to land many of them. Among those expected announcements are 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho, 4-star S Devin Jackson, and 4-star LB Nick Abrams. On Saturday night, 4-star wide receiver Jalen Lott joined that group, announcing that he will make his commitment official on July 8. Advertisement Lott is down to a final five schools of Oregon, the Texas Longhorns, the Georgia Bulldogs, the USC Trojans, and the LSU Tigers. Earlier this month, a prediction landed on On3 for Lott to commit to the Trojans, but there is growing speculation that Oregon is right there in the mix for the highly-rated pass-catcher. The 247Sports Composite rates Lott as the No. 49 overall player in the 2026 class and the No. 5 ATH. While the prediction is only rated at a 50% confidence level, it still suggests that recruiting intel available indicates Lott, a Frisco, Texas native, may be leaning towards the Trojans. Before this latest prediction, it was Oregon and Texas who were considered the favorites. However, Lott's sister, Falyn, runs track at USC, so there is a family pull there. Advertisement We will seen in just over a week whether or not the Ducks are able to close the deal and get a second blue-chip receiver to Eugene as a member of the 2026 class. Oregon Ducks still have 2 silent commitments

The Oregon Ducks 2026 recruiting class has jumped from just inside the top-50 nationally to the top-10 class in less than a month. That group took a big leap forward this week with the additions of five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho and four-star defensive back Devin Jackson. Advertisement But the Ducks still aren't done. On3's Hayes Fawcett, who makes commitment edits ahead of recruit's college announcements, has teased that Oregon still has two more pledges to come. So, who could they be? The top candidate is almost certainly Panther Creek (Texas) four-star wide receiver Jalen Lott, who is expected to announce his college commitment Tuesday. The 6-foot, 180-pound pass-catcher is rated the nation's No. 49 overall prospect and No. 5 athlete and holds nearly 50 scholarship offers. Why? As a junior, Lott hauled in 85 receptions for 1,111 yards and 16 touchdowns, but was also the USATF National Junior Olympics champion in the long jump. Advertisement While Lott seems to be the most likely candidate, pinning down a second commitment may prove tricky. Oregon is in the mix for several prospects who could soon pull the trigger. Here's a quick rundown: - Rocky Mountain (Idaho) high three-star offensive lineman Jax Tanner officially visited several schools since May 30, but Oregon is viewed as the leader over Boise State, BYU, Michigan and Tennessee. - St. Frances Academy (Maryland) five-star safety Jireh Edwards is announcing his commitment Saturday, but Alabama is viewed as the clear favorite. - McDonogh School (Maryland) four-star linebacker Nick Abrams II officially visited Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon and is set to announce his commitment July 16. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound 'backer has kept his thoughts very close to the vest and it is believed to be a tight race for his services. Advertisement - Oaks Christian (California) elite defensive back Davon Benjamin is viewed as an Oregon lean, but has not yet set a commitment date publicly. - Grayson (Georgia) five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson has taken official visits to Clemson, Oregon, Georgia and Texas. The nation's No. 1 linebacker is viewed as an in-state Bulldogs lean, but his recruitment is tight. - St. Paul's Episcopal (Alabama) five-star edge-rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones announced a top three of Alabama, Oregon and Texas A&M on Thursday, but has not yet (publicly) set a commitment date and the Crimson Tide are the team-to-beat. - Collins Hill (Georgia) four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds sent out tweet Thursday expressing thanks for the recruiting process with photos of LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss and Oregon. The tweet seemed to imply he's close to a commitment - and the Ducks are in the mix. Advertisement - A wild card. While Oregon was certainly known to be pushing for former Cal commits Tommy Tofi and Koloi Keli, the fact that they both flipped to Oregon in the past week was a small surprise. Could Oregon flip another key recruit or land a surprise? It's certainly possible with Dan Lanning's program being this hot on the recruiting trail.

How a new USC recruiting prediction spells potential victory for Oregon Football

A potential domino is about to fall in the wide receiver recruiting world, and it may have some positive ramifications for the Oregon Ducks. On Wednesday morning, On3's Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for the USC Trojans to land a commitment from 4-star WR Ethan 'Boobie' Feaster, the No. 40 player and No. 4 receiver in the 2026 class. Standing at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Feaster is a talented pass-catcher who the Trojans have been trying to land over the likes of Texas A&M and LSU. Advertisement While the pickup for USC would be massive, adding to their No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, it could also spell victory for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. How? By potentially taking the Trojans out of the running for 4-star WR Jalen Lott, who the Ducks are recruiting heavily ahead of his July 8 commitment. Lott is rated as the No. 49 player in the nation and the No. 5 ATH in the 2026 class. The Ducks are among Lott's finalists, alongside USC, the Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, and Georgia Bulldogs. While USC might still try to land Lott as well, it's fair to think that the 4-star may choose to go elsewhere. Oregon currently holds a slight lead over Texas in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with USC in third place. It will be no means be easy for the Ducks to land him, but should Feaster end up committing to the Trojans, then it may make things slightly easier.
