Push for Arab cooperation in health sector
TDT | Geneva Joint action among Arab states is important to address shared health priorities, particularly given the ongoing global and regional challenges. This was emphasised by Her Excellency Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, as she participated in the 62nd session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers and its Executive Bureau, held in Geneva alongside Arab health ministers. She highlighted the need to invest in capacity building, boost local production of medicines and medical supplies, and reduce reliance on imports. Dr. Jalila also reviewed the regional health initiative launched through the 'Bahrain Declaration,' endorsed by Arab leaders during the 33rd Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain in May. The initiative aims to strengthen healthcare quality and resilience across Arab health systems through partnerships and sustainable strategies.

Bahrain attends food safety talks
Her Excellency Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, led Bahrain's delegation to the ninth meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Food Safety of the GCC, organised by the GCC General Secretariat in Kuwait. Dr. Jalila highlighted the importance of GCC cooperation in further developing food safety systems, exchanging expertise, and enhancing preventive and regulatory measures to ensure consumer protection. The meeting discussed topics, including the Unified Food Law, and the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods.

Health Minister Leads Bahrain Delegation to GCC Food Safety Meeting in Kuwait
Kuwait City: Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, led Bahrain's delegation to the ninth meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Food Safety of the GCC, organised by the GCC General Secretariat in Kuwait. The minister highlighted the importance of GCC cooperation in further developing food safety systems, exchanging expertise, and enhancing preventive and regulatory measures to ensure consumer protection. According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting discussed key topics, including the Unified Food Law, the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods, the establishment of a regional risk assessment centre, novel foods, and the regulation of imports of animal-based products. Participants also reviewed the GCC food safety policy and follow-ups on decisions from the previous ministerial meeting. The event marked a step forward in regional efforts to enhance food security and uphold safety standards.
