Boston Celtics jersey history No. 28 - Jameer Nelson (2014-15)

The Boston Celtics have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- the league that would become today's NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of Celtics history. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Celtics Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest Celtics to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover. And for today's article, we will continue with the 10th of 14 people to wear the No. 28, Boston guard alum Jameer Nelson. After ending his college career at St. Joseph's, Nelson was picked up with the 20th overall selection of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets. The Chester, Pennsylvania native would play the first 10 seasons of his pro career with the Orlando Magic after a draft night deal. He also played for the Dallas Mavericks before he was dealt to Boston in 2014. His stay with the team would span just six games before he'd be dealt again, this time to the Denver Nuggets in 2015. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Nelson wore only jersey No. 28 and put up 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference. This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Celtics jersey history No. 28 - Jameer Nelson (2014-15)

Report: Sixers to promote Jameer Nelson to assistant GM position

Report: Sixers to promote Jameer Nelson to assistant GM position The Philadelphia 76ers received good news on Monday when they found out they are going to have the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. The Sixers were able to keep their pick while also moving into the top 3 of the draft. On Tuesday, the franchise made a front office move. Jameer Nelson, a 1-time All-Star with the Orlando Magic during his playing days, had been serving as the GM to the team's G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats since 2020. Under Nelson, the Blue Coats won the G League title in 2023. The Sixers will reportedly promote Nelson to the team's assistant GM position. The front office is now led by President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, GM Elton Brand, and assuming no other moves will be made, assistant GMs Ned Cohen and Nelson. The Sixers will now forge ahead and look to make the right decisions on how to handle the draft as they now have a big selection to make on June 25.
