The director recently expressed his happiness over the film's success and wrote on a Threads post, 'I am grateful for your enthusiasm and wonderful thoughts over the last several days. We've seen a lot of 'Super' in Superman over the years, and I'm glad to have developed a film that focuses on the 'man' side of the equation – a nice guy who is always looking out for those in need. That it resonates so strongly with so many people throughout the world is a positive testimonial to the goodness and worth of human beings. Thank you." Apart from David Corenswet, the film also features Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Milly Alcock in significant roles. This new perspective on the superhero does not explore the traditional origin story. Instead, it follows a young Clark Kent as he strikes a delicate balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing. The film delves into his early years, dealing with everything from a PR crisis and a personal identity crisis to his developing affections for Lois Lane, all while facing off against the menacing Lex Luthor. Box Office: Superman scores a decent opening weekend in India; James Gunn directorial collects Rs 24 crore

The James Gunn-directed Superman has scored decent results in its opening weekend in India, as the David Corenswet starrer has collected Rs 24.50 crore (GBOC: Rs 30 crore) in 3 days. The superhero saga opened at Rs 6.75 crore on Friday, followed by a jump to Rs 9.00 crore on Saturday, and a nominal dip to Rs 8.75 crore on Sunday. The film has done its best business in the urban centres, but unfortunately, the mass belts didn't come on board over the weekend. The national chains have contributed about 60 percent to the total business, and ideally, a superhero film on a cult character like Superman should have had this ratio around the 55 percent mark. Superman has appreciation, but it's nowhere close to the global reception in India, as the weekend trend, especially on Sunday, was not as promising. The David Corenswet starrer will be hoping for a good hold in collections on Monday, and then look to show strong trend in the second weekend, to reach a successful number in the long run. The business of Superman is also impacted due to the cluttered release window, with competition from across industries. The biggest competitor for Superman came in the form of Jurassic World: Rebirth in India, as the dinosaur saga hit it out of the park with excellent jumps on Saturday and Sunday. Superman will be looking at first week business in the vicinity of Rs 35 crore, and then aim to get close to the half century mark by the end of second weekend. Box Office: Superman jumps by 40 percent in India on Saturday; James Gunn and David Corenswet film collects Rs 9 crore on Day 2

After a decent opening of Rs 6.50 crore on Friday, the James Gunn-directed Superman fronted by David Corenswet has seen a 50 percent surge in collections on Saturday. According to early trends, Superman is looking to collect in the range of Rs 8.50 crore to Rs 9.50 crore on the second day, taking two-day total collections to Rs 16.00 crore (GBOC: 19.25 crore, USD 2 million). The jump has come all across the board, though the urban markets continue to be the key contributors. The James Gunn directorial will be looking to score around Rs 26 crore in its opening weekend, and it's the hold on the Monday which will give us an idea about the verdict in long run. Much like Jurassic World: Rebirth, Superman too will be seeing surge in business on a weekend-to-weekend basis, and reach a reasonable number in the long run. The Saturday jump is indicative of appreciation from the audience, and an early signal of another success story from Hollywood in India. The last 2 months have seen back-to-back successes from Hollywood at the Indian box office in the form of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Final Destination: Bloodlines, F1, and Jurassic World: Rebirth. The above numbers are exclusive of the 3D charges, and taking the same into account, the two-day total of Superman would be in the range of Rs 17.50 crore. Superman is sharing showcasing with multiple films in India ranging from Jurassic World, to F1, Metro In Dino, and Sitaare Zameen Par among others. A 10 percent better business would have been ideal, but these are also good numbers to start with and it's about capitalizing on the same in the long run. Friday: Rs 6.50 crore Saturday: Rs 9.00 crore (Expected) Total: Rs 15.50 crore
