We hit 82 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We've reached 82 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 82 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
No. 82
Who's wearing it now: WR Zakhari Franklin
Franklin is an undrafted rookie. The 6-1, 185-pound receiver spent his first four college football seasons at UT San Antonio, putting up big numbers including 3348 yards and 37 touchdowns. This included 1136 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior. Rather than declare for the NFL Draft, he opted to transfer to Ole Miss, but was lost to injury in his fourth game, prompting him to transfer to Illinois to try and get back on the NFL's radar. His 652 yards and four touchdowns helped, but wasn't enough to get him drafted.
Who wore it best: WR James Jett
A man who had a very appropriate last name, James Jett was one of the fastest humans alive. He signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 1993 and burst onto the scene, averaging 23.4 yards per catch as a rookie. Al Davis loved speed, and had visions of Jett being the Cliff Branch to Tim Brown's Fred Biletnikoff in the Raiders offense throughout the 90s.
Jett would and spent ten years in Silver & Black, recording 4417 yards and 30 touchdowns. He never played a single down for any other team.
