We hit 82 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We've reached 82 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 82 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
No. 82
Who's wearing it now: WR Zakhari Franklin
Franklin is an undrafted rookie. The 6-1, 185-pound receiver spent his first four college football seasons at UT San Antonio, putting up big numbers including 3348 yards and 37 touchdowns. This included 1136 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior. Rather than declare for the NFL Draft, he opted to transfer to Ole Miss, but was lost to injury in his fourth game, prompting him to transfer to Illinois to try and get back on the NFL's radar. His 652 yards and four touchdowns helped, but wasn't enough to get him drafted.
Who wore it best: WR James Jett
A man who had a very appropriate last name, James Jett was one of the fastest humans alive. He signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 1993 and burst onto the scene, averaging 23.4 yards per catch as a rookie. Al Davis loved speed, and had visions of Jett being the Cliff Branch to Tim Brown's Fred Biletnikoff in the Raiders offense throughout the 90s.
Jett would and spent ten years in Silver & Black, recording 4417 yards and 30 touchdowns. He never played a single down for any other team.

NFL Win/Loss Preview Series: Green Bay Packers
NFL Win/Loss Preview Series: Green Bay Packers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Entrenched in arguably the league's toughest division, can we find ten wins on the Packers' schedule? PACKERS' WIN/LOSS ODDS: Over 9.5 Wins: (-125) Advertisement Packers spent 2025 doing Packer things ,as the NFL's best balanced team you never heard of. Stylistically a little boring on both sides of the ball, Green Bay's proved the blue-collar foundational formula correct time after time — coaching plus quarterbacking with strong O-line play and lots of zone defense wins. I especially liked the selection of T Anthony Belton at Pick 2.54 to bolster trench depth. For an offense with such strong macros (27.1 PPG, 6.1 yards/play, 48.8% success rate, +0.06 EPA/play), you could argue the pass-catching room lacked a true explosive playmaker with Christian Watson on the shelf (again). Green Bay got their guy, drafting WR Matthew Golden at #23 overall in April. For anyone who completely missed draft season, Golden ran the fastest 40-yard dash time at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, clocking in at 4.29 seconds (per NBC). Whoa. Needless to say, the organizations excited top to bottom for the dawning of the Golden Era. Not to get too deep into offseason vibes but the recent release of two-time Pro Bowler CB Jaire Alexander amidst this competitive of a window rubbed me the wrong way. Trust me, I understand it's a cold world and freeing up +$17M in cash matters, but there's no lack of alpha WRs to defend in this division. Advertisement GB did sign former Raider Nate Hobbs to a sizable deal, and perhaps they view the move as lateral. Maybe it's me but these NFC North tilts get won on the margins, where a single splash play could change the outcome. Remember, the Pack went 11-6 in 2024, yet five of their six defeats came in-division! If you want to keep pace in wild track meets versus Minnesota and Detroit, not only must you score, but also suppress secondary options like Jordan Addison and Sam LaPorta. Anyway, Alexander only defended 232 routes and GB easily finished as a top-5 overall defensive unit without him (19.9 PPG, 314.5 yards/game, 5.2 yards/play, +0.07 EPA/snap). Matt LaFleur's success came from mixing defensive styles, deploying as many old-school 4-DB sets as anyone while also mixing in lots of newer two-high preventative shell looks. Winning at the point of attack without necessarily sacrificing defenders to get the QB serves to the aforementioned balance responsible for GB's success. Do everything well, and you don't need highlight plays to win. The process works and Im expecting more of the same in 2025. Advertisement LAGHEZZA'S LEAN: If you can't tell from my gushing over Green Bay, I'm bullish on the Pack. And while I don't love hanging a (-125) on the shelf for six months, I can't see Jordan Love repeating those same poor divisional performances. It hasn't yet but may end up on my ticket. That's if the price moves our direction as vibes around the Bears and Vikings skyrocket when their QBs complete a preseason pass. I'm leaning into the market finding Green Bay too boring to steam — and if we get to even money for ten wins, count me in. Former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich signs with the Denver Broncos, per reports
Former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich signs with the Denver Broncos, per reports Former Clemson standout Mario Goodrich is getting another opportunity in the NFL. The Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League released Goodrich on Monday so he could sign with an NFL team, and according to PFN's James Larsen, the veteran cornerback is now joining the Denver Broncos. Goodrich signed with the Stallions in February after being waived by the New York Giants ahead of the 2024 NFL season. He went on to appear in seven games this year—six during the regular season and one in the postseason—while battling through injury. The 6-foot, 191-pound defensive back finished his UFL stint with 17 total tackles (one for loss), six pass breakups, and three forced fumbles. Before his time in the UFL, Goodrich spent time with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Giants. He initially signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and remained on their practice squad for two seasons. Goodrich saw game action with the Eagles in 2023, playing in four games (one start) and recording five tackles, including three solo stops. At Clemson, Goodrich appeared in 47 games with 16 starts from 2018 to 2021. He totaled 84 tackles, 15 pass breakups, five interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He earned first-team All-ACC and third-team All-America honors as a senior and was named MVP of the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl. Tyreek Hill chides Noah Lyles after their 100m race canceled for ‘personal reasons'
Somebody between Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles has to be ducking the other — and Hill is suggesting that it's not him. On Monday, the sprinter Lyles revealed that his 100-meter foot race against the NFL star Hill was supposedly meant to happen this past weekend in Times Square, but 'complications' and 'personal reasons' caused it to fall through. Then, with a recent post on X, Hill made it known that it's not 'complications' on his end that canceled it, and that it was Lyles who backed out at the last minute. 'We were very deep into creating the event. In fact, it was supposed to happen this weekend,' Lyles said Monday. 'We were gonna have a big event, we were going to shut down New York Times Square and everything, we were gonna have all the billboards for the event, it was going to be a lot of fun.' But still, the event fell through. Both Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles have claimed they can beat the other in a foot race, yet the official faceoff continues to fall through. The Dolphins wide receiver ran a 10.15 100-meter dash on Friday, then held up a sign that read, 'Noah could never.' Tyreek Hill may be the NFLs fastest player. AP Lyles, however, ran a 9.784 in the 100-meter at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. So, seemingly, he should have no reason to avoid racing Hill. But even while the numbers suggest that he would lose, Hill has shown to the public that he's fully invested (and confident) to race Lyles. Noah Lyles is often coined the world's fastest man. AFP via Getty Images Lyles, who won gold at the 2024 Olympics in the 100-meter sprint, also competes in the 60-meter and the 200-meter. He is widely regarded as the fastest man in the world. As for Hill, he may be the fastest player in the NFL and may very well also be one of the fastest humans on earth — but it's unclear if his football speed could really keep up with Lyles. Though it feels like the race may never happen at this point, Lyles has been adamant in the past that it's no joke. And if Hill's trash talk is legitimate, then it sounds like he's ready to go too.
