VSP: Worker killed on I-81 shoulder after dump truck reverses over him
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A worker died after being run over by a dump truck on the shoulder of Interstate 81 in Washington County, Virginia.
According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the crash occurred on Monday around 2:30 p.m. on the shoulder of I-81 North at mile marker 30.

VSP reports a 2010 Freightliner M2 dump truck started to reverse while on the right shoulder of the interstate. The dump truck ran over a pedestrian who was also on the shoulder, according to state police.
The driver of the dump truck and the pedestrian were working on the same crew, conducting shoulder maintenance.
VSP identified the pedestrian as James Nunley, Jr., 43, of Marion.
Nunley died at the scene.
The driver was not injured, state police reported.
As of Tuesday, the crash remains under investigation.
