Char Bar opening new location in downtown Olathe
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A new 'Char Bar' location is coming to the Kansas City metro.
On Tuesday night, the Olathe City Council approved the construction of a downtown Char Bar at the site of the former fire station and parks and recreation office, marking its first location in Kansas.

The popular barbecue restaurant, bar and entertainment venue will be brought to life by partners James Westphal and Mark Kelpe.

'From our original inception, Char Bar has been all about burning, searing and smokingmeats,' Kelpe said. 'So, it's an absolute thrill to have the opportunity to resurrect this iconic downtown Olathe fire station into our newest Kansas City barbecue palace.'
Char Bar opened its first location a decade ago in Westport and then established a second location in Parkville. Now, it will be opening its 'biggest and best' location in Johnson County.
According to the city council, the expected time frame for the opening of the newest Char Bar is late 2025 or early 2026.

It will be located near , and according to the Chamber of Commerce, it will offer more than just a place to stop and grab a bite to eat. It will be a 'true family-friendly destination.'
