Proposed Trade Lands Buffalo Bills Dynamic Receiver to Pair With Josh Allen
Proposed Trade Lands Buffalo Bills Dynamic Receiver to Pair With Josh Allen originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills are entering 2025 without a true No. 1 receiver. It will be the second-straight season the Bills open the season without a 1,000-yard threat on the roster. Advertisement Khalil Shakir could have another uptick in production out of the slot. Shakir had a career-high 821 yards last season, but Buffalo doesn't have a high-end option on the outside, and Shakir isn't a massive red zone threat, with just seven career touchdowns. Josh Allen's favorite red zone target from last year, Mack Hollins, signed with the Bills' AFC East rival New England Patriots. Buffalo's biggest receiver add; Josh Palmer; had just one touchdown last season, and has just 10 career touchdowns in four NFL seasons. Jameson Williams has been involved in trade rumors dating back to last season, and while the Detroit Lions may be inclined to hold on to their former first-rounder after a 15-2 season, anything can happen in the NFL, and the Lions may listen to offers to avoid paying their young star. Last Word on Sports' Anthony Palacios believes the Bills should try to strike a deal for Williams, adding some speed on the outside. Advertisement "The Bills still need another wide receiver to bolster the unit behind Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman." Palacios wrote. "Williams could justify being a long-term playmaker after losing Mack Hollins this offseason and could perform at greater heights behind one of the best arms [Allen]." It took Williams a little while to get going, but the former Alabama star finally had his long-awaited breakout season in 2024, hauling in 58 catches for 1,0001 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. Williams functioned as Detroit's' go-to deep threat last season, and paired with Amon-Ra St. Brown formed one of the NFL's most fearsome receiving duos. With all the talent the Lions had amongst their skill positions, Williams was only third in catches amongst the Lions' offense. In Buffalo, he'd be the go-to guy for Josh Allen. Pairing Allen's cannon of an arm with a 1,000-yard receiver who averaged 17.3 yards-per-reception last season is a formula that could turn out incredible numbers for Williams. Lions' WR Jameson Williams Reveals Which of the Team's Losses Hurt Him the Most
Lions' WR Jameson Williams Reveals Which of the Team's Losses Hurt Him the Most originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The past couple of seasons have been an undeniably positive experience for the Detroit Lions and their fans. Advertisement After years of frequently struggling as one of the NFL's worst teams, the Lions have become one of the league's best franchises in recent years. They've won the last two NFC North titles and earned the top seed in the NFC this past season with 15 wins. While there have been plenty of positives over the last two years, there has also been some heartbreak. This past season ended in disappointment when the Lions were eliminated from the playoffs in the Divisional Round by the Washington Commanders. Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson WilliamsSergio Estrada-Imagn Images While that was a painful ending to a season where the Lions looked like title contenders, wide receiver Jameson Williams says it wasn't the loss that has hurt him the most during his NFL career. Advertisement While recently speaking with the media at OTAs, Williams revealed that distinction actually belongs to the team's NFC Championship Game loss to the 49ers. I think people really don't realize how bad it is until you get to that game where you're one game away from the Super Bowl. That was the one that hurt us the most. What hurt me the most. I felt more hurt losing to San Francisco than I did to the Commanders because it was just one game away, one play away. That matchup with the 49ers from the 2023 season wasn't one the Lions were expected to win, but it was a game they seemed to be in control of. The led the matchup 24-7 at halftime, thanks in part to a 42-yard touchdown run from Williams less than two minutes into the game. Unfortunately, things fell apart in the second half. The Lions surrendered 27 unanswered points to fall behind 34-24 in the fourth quarter. Williams scored another touchdown, this time on a three-yard pass from Jared Goff, to cut it to a three-point game, but that marked the end of the game's scoring and the Lions missed out on the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. Advertisement It's easy to see why that loss would still hurt, but the Lions can put that pain in the past this season if they are finally able to wok their way into a Super Bowl. Lions' Jameson Williams Sends Clear 5-Word Message Amid Pre-Draft Trade Speculation
The Detroit Lions have an opportunity to improve their team later this week in the 2025 NFL draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The team is strong across the board, especially on offense, despite their disappointing playoff performance in a losing effort against the Washington Commanders this past January. Advertisement On Monday, trade rumors started by an NFL insider about former Lions first round pick and fan favorite caught the attention of fans across the country. The speculation led to a late night response from Williams himself, who shared a clear five-word message with fans and well wishers on social media. Jameson Williams/IG "Obviously, this is a roster that's in really solid shape, allowing for the Lions to target certain needs (in the draft)," Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer said of Williams recently. "Receiver's another spot to consider — with a fifth-year option decision coming on Jameson Williams, and some in NFL circles believing he could be traded." Advertisement Lions general manger Brad Holmes said he expects the Lions to keep Williams in March. Related: Insider Hints Lions' Star WR on Trade Block Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

4 draft-day trades Cowboys could consider on Friday
4 draft-day trades Cowboys could consider on Friday Four 2025 NFL draft, Day 2 trades, the Cowboys could make to bolster their roster by adding veterans at needed positions or recouping draft picks. Dallas' selection of Alabama guard Tyler Booker may have shocked the system, but it filled a sneaky need and solidified a unit searching for an identity. The Cowboys enter the second day of the draft with four clear needs, starting with a receiver to pair opposite CeeDee Lamb. The health of All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs and the contract uncertainty of DaRon Bland make corner another big need. Running back and interior defensive lineman round out the Cowboys biggest holes, but with only a pair of selections on Day 2, the team will need to get creative and draft day trades could net Dallas some potential starters. Trade 2.44, 5.149, to the Chicago Bears for 2.39 Dallas may have to trade up in order to acquire their preferred skill position player, whether that be Missouri's Luther Burden at wideout, or Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson at running back. Chicago entered the draft with seven picks, including two second-rounders within the first nine selections on Day 2 and a third-round pick at No. 72. After the second and third rounds, Chicago will have just three picks remaining on the final day of the draft, with the earliest being a fifth-round pick followed later by a pair of seventh-rounders. Moving down a few slots allows Chicago to gain another Day 3 draft pick without the feeling of giving up too much value. Trade 3.76 to the Detroit Lions for WR Jameson Williams Lions wideout Jameson Williams has been rumored to be available, would a third-round pick get it done? With so many holes for Dallas, giving up the 76th overall pick may not feel like proper compensation for the 1,000-yard receiver who was recently slapped with a fifth-year option. Dallas would have to address Williams' contract situation eventually, but they'd have the same scenario they did when they acquired Amari Cooper from the Raiders, with two years to evaluate. Trade 2.44 to the Cincinnati Bengals for 2.49, 4.119 Dallas set themselves up for a long Day 3 wait when they traded their fourth-round pick, No. 114 overall, to Carolina for receiver Jonathan Mingo. Cowboys fans have panicked a bit, so trading back may not be a popular move, yet one that could pay dividends, especially if several of their targets remain on the board when they get on the clock at No. 44. Landing a prospect of their choosing, yet not falling too far behind while recouping an early Day 3 pick, could be beneficial. As it currently stands, Dallas is slated to wait through 72 selections before going on the clock again with pick No. 149. Trade 3.76 to Jets for 5.145 and running back Breece Hall Like Williams above, Jets running back Breece Hall is also entering his fourth NFL season, but unlike the Lions wideout, Hall was taken in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. This means, barring a tag or an extension, Hall will hit unrestricted free agency in 2026. This uncommonly deep RB class of 2025 may prevent teams from valuing the veteran running back as much as he should, but this swap gives Dallas a young lead back without hindering the ability to draft another. He would have a young rebuilt offensive line powered by a new scheme and the stability of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to help raise his contractual value ahead of the open market. Dallas would receive a legitimate home run threat with minimal monetary obligations. Hall has never eclipsed more than 223 attempts in his first three seasons and has also yet to reach 1,000 rushing yards. He is also a very productive receiving threat, catching 152 passes for 1,292 yards and 8 touchdowns in his first three seasons. Teams are still talking ahead of the clock starting. Can Dallas maneuver itself to land the best possible deal? Only time will tell.
